There are strange radio waves hitting Earth from space, and scientists just found the source
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
A strange burst of radio waves that has puzzled researchers for years has finally been traced to its source, answering one question but generating many, many more. The discovery was made my scientists at Cornell University along with astronomers from around the world. Now it's up to science to help explain why the radio bursts exist in the first place, and what it could mean. Continue reading... There’s a levitating speaker that actually sounds really, really good
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
Levitating speakers first debuted at CES a couple of years ago, and they were nifty at the time. The novelty quickly wore off when people realized that the crazy futuristic design came at a cost: these speakers generally sounded pretty bad. There's a new model on the scene though that makes levitating speakers worth revisiting though, because it's more than just a cool effect. The base that keeps the main speaker hovering above it is actually also a subwoofer, so it delivers sound that is much more full and bass-heavy than any rival model. Check out the Crazybaby Mars Levitating Speaker, which is on sale right now on Amazon. Continue reading... Trending right now: …

Apple touts new ‘Portrait Mode’ feature in latest iPhone 7 Plus ad
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

Apple earlier today aired a new iPhone 7 Plus ad that highlights the device's ability to take compelling photos that were previously only possible on high-end DSLR cameras. Titled "Take Mine", Apple's latest ad focuses on the iPhone 7 Plus' ability to deliver a "bokeh" effect whereby the main focus of a photo remains crisp and clear while the background itself is artificially blurred. The end result is that the subject of a given photo is brought into much sharper focus. Continue reading... The Anova Precision Cooker is a sous vide cooker you control with your smartphone
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
Sous vide is all the rage right now, but there's a pretty big difference between sous vide cooking and most cooking trends: sous vide is actually pretty awesome. The process involves submerging the food you're cooking in a water batch enclosed in an air-tight bag, and then cooking it at extremely precise temperatures for long periods of time. It's almost impossible to mess up, and the resulting food retains all of its flavor since nothing escapes during the cooking process. Now is the perfect time to get on board with sous vide thanks to a sweet Amazon sale that will save you money on a very cool cooker that actually connects to your iPhone or Android. Check out the Se…

Donald Trump will continue to tweet randomly after he takes office
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

If you made the assumption that a PR team is handling Donald Trump’s Twitter assaults, you’d be wrong. The incoming press secretary Sean Spicer said that the President-elect’s tweets are his own, and the team never knows when or what he’ll tweet next. He also said that it’s likely that President Trump will continue to tweet while in office, as this offers him a direct way to address the public. Continue reading... Stop what you’re doing and read this newly declassified report on Russia’s election hacking
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence just declassified a report on Russia's bevy of election-swinging tricks that it rolled out in the lead-up to the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, and it's downright horrifying. The investigation, which was conducted at the behest of President Obama in early December, highlights the seemingly countless number of ways Russia attempted to undermine the electoral process, and boldly points the finger at the Kremlin time after time. The bright minds at MIT are always cooking up new technologies, so to hear that they invented a new material that's stronger than steel isn't even all that surprising, but what's particularly interesting it that they managed to also make it far lighter than almost everything else. Best of CES 2017: The 10 most innovative products at CES this year
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
CES 2017 has been the biggest year so far for the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. More than 175,000 attendees converged on the strip this week to be among the first to see what the world's top technology companies have to offer. Car tech took center stage for much of the show, which is certainly understandable considering all the disruption sweeping the automotive industry right now. Connected devices were a top theme once again as well, as the Internet of Things continues its shift from fantasy to reality. There was plenty to take in at CES 2017, and we had a blast checking out all of the exciting new gear headed to store shelves in 2017 and bey…
