Roombas have been mapping your homes for years, and that data’s about to be sold to the...

Once a curious novelty for people who absolutely despise traditional vacuum cleaners, Roomba's robotic vacuums are now offered in several models and price points. It would seem that the company is doing fairly well, but one of its most interesting — and potentially controversial — money-making strategies hasn't even been implemented yet. A new report reveals that one of Roomba's plays for the future involves using its fancy little cleaner bots as trojan horses which, while in the process of tiding up, will map your home's layout and then send that information to the company to be sold to the highest bidder. Samsung’s beefier Galaxy S8 leaks in new video
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

The Galaxy S8 is one of the best-looking phones that you can buy right now. A simple trick like stretching the display across almost the entire front side of the handset did wonders for a phone that already looked amazing. But good things don't always come in pairs, and Samsung is about to launch a Galaxy S8 version that’s not going to be nearly as pretty as the original. Continue reading... Mars rover sends home spectacular panorama
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

NASA's Mars rover Opportunity continues to perform some amazing feats despite being long overdue for its expected retirement. The rover, having ventured to a somewhat mysterious site that researchers call Perseverance Valley, has been doing its best to help its handlers decipher exactly how the valley formed. Now, to help show both NASA scientists and the rest of the world a better view of what the landscape looks like, the rover shot a series of panoramic photos that, when stitched together, give you a better feeling of what it would look like to be standing on the Martian landscape yourself. Apple replacing old MacBooks with brand-new models due to spare parts shortage
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
According to internal documents seen by MacRumors, Apple is exchanging older 2012 and 2013 MacBook Pros with brand-new models, thanks to a shortage of spare parts. Customers who bring in their older MacBook Pros for battery replacement -- a $200 out-of-warranty repair, or free with AppleCare+ -- are receiving brand-new laptops instead of a new battery. The unusual move is thanks to a "severe constraint of top case assemblies with integrated batteries" for the mid-2012 or early 2013 15-inch MacBook Pro. In the case of that laptop, it appears that Apple prefers its local repair technicians to replace the entire top case assembly for a battery replacement, even though iFi…

There might be a whole bunch of water hiding inside the moon
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
With how much attention humanity has devoted to studying Earth's moon over the centuries, you'd think we'd had a good handle on just about everything there is to know about our nearest neighbor. Some extremely interesting new research suggests that's simply not the case, and if the scientific team comprised of researchers from the University of Hawaii as well as Brown holds water, the moon might be a great deal more wet inside than previously thought. While Samsung’s incomplete Bixby virtual assistant may have its very own dedicated button of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets, many owners would rather remap the button as a camera button instead. by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

We told you about a dozen times during Prime Day earlier this month that Amazon's massive discount on the Amazon Echo smart speaker was completely unprecedented. We also said the device might never be sold again at a discount quite that deep. The bad news, we were probably correct. But the good news is if you missed that killer Prime Day sale, Amazon has a great one-day sale happening today that's almost as good. On Monday only, Amazon is shaving $50 off the price of its best Alexa smart speaker, making it $129.99 with free Prime shipping. And don't forget to check out this awesome Echo accessory, which transforms your Echo into a portable Alexa smart speaker. Here are…

Watch the completely over-the-top Rock and Siri commercial that was teased as a movie

It looks like Apple really, really, really wants you to acknowledge Siri. Apple wants you to know it exists on the iPhone and it can do wonderful things as soon as you ask for help. Oh, and this completely over the top Rock and Siri ad seems to suggest Apple is somewhat afraid and/or annoyed with the increasing popularity of Amazon’s Alexa. Continue reading...
