Android might be getting another navigation button redesign
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Software buttons are that thing that Google has been trying to make a thing but other manufacturers aren’t really interested in it being a thing. When they were originally introduced, Google wanted all OEMs to ditch hardware buttons for on-screen buttons, but few companies followed Google’s example. Outside of the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung has all […] Come comment on this article: Android might be getting another navigation button redesign Visit TalkAndroid http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/f3c2fcea9ad0c83a3bd92e026a6cd697._.gif News via TalkAndroid

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/c3b7cb7addb37f3cec98cfbd4571f989.pngChome OS has always been a thing I think of for people's grandparents, or young students looking for their Fischer-Price My First Computer. But with Chromebook sales outstripping Macbooks, and Google adding serious new features at speed, it's probably time to start taking Chrome OS seriously. Google has added a storage manager to the latest developer update version of the software, giving a preview of the kinds of features we can expect from Chrome OS in the coming months. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b92c5ea3b443e4cd7f2a1ad220b28515.jpgWhen I took Drivers Ed way back when, I remember being shown unusually graphic videos from the 1960s which depicted horrific scenes recorded in the aftermath of particularly gruesome accidents. The message was clear, if not a bit overdone: driving can be exceedingly dangerous and you better obey the rules of the road lest you wind up in a video like this. Perhaps looking to these videos for inspiration, Metro Los Angeles this week released five animated videos that illustrate all of the horrific things that can happen if you don't respect the safety guidelines that govern train transit. In a new video, CineFix explores five of those sequences — action scenes that are just as smart and impressive as they are thrilling and explosive. Sure, he might not be doing the real coding, but the smart Tesla cars that will be able to drive themselves around town in the following years will have to be programmed to handle a particular type of emergency: hitting a pedestrian or saving the lives of the passengers inside the vehicle. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b3de282e6d390d3d7a895941886b35f0.jpgNissan earlier today unveiled the GT-R Drone, an incredibly advanced drone that Nissan categorizes as "one of the fastest accelerating FPV (First Person View) racing drones in the world. So just how fast is it? Well, the GT-R Drone was designed to keep up with the Nissan's new GT-R car on a race track. Specifically, the GT-R Drone can accelerate from 0-62 MPH in just 1.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 115 MPH. Of course, piloting a drone at such high speeds requires an individual with top-notch skills, which is why Nissan called in British National Drone Racing champion James Bowles to a…

Oculus wants you to believe that exclusive games are good for VR

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/552492a21d38391fe64cff21f8492023.jpgExclusivity is a complex issue for the gaming industry, and has been for quite some time. Although platform exclusivity of first- and third-party titles creates competition between the console makers, it also fragments the user base and forces gamers to either put up with the fact that they're going to miss out on major triple-A titles, or spend money on yet another video game console. All of that said, you can see why Oculus's aggressive stance toward acquiring VR games exclusively for its platform has been met with some derision. Now Oculus wants to explain itself. Google already explained at I/O 2016 the new features of this new Android release, but it didn’t reveal everything there is to it. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8dd29f56b5a47692781948cdb5363b3e.jpgA pair of recent lawsuits has revealed that Netflix has a secret team of employees tasked with watching thousands of hours of programming from Netflix's library in order to figure out which still images should be used to represent a given program. While seemingly silly on the surface, Netflix famously spares no expense when it comes to keeping users immersed in the Netflix universe for as long as possible. From Netflix's vantage point, every detail, no matter how minute, matters a great deal. So whether it's the recommendations that fill up a user's splash page or the images used to represent …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d38e20708474302504d07927a97f941e.jpgA new report from DigiTimes claims that there are some interesting changes in store for the Apple Watch. According to the publication -- which admittedly has a spotty record with Apple rumors -- Apple is planning to replace the OLED panels it currently uses on the Apple Watch with Micro LED technology sometime next year. The report adds that the new display panels will be built on technology Apple acquired when it purchased LuxVue back in 2014, a company well regarded for its power-efficient micro-LED displays. The benefits of switching from OLED to Micro LED are certainly intriguing: not only…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6ac79d4a21f3df354bc3828fceaaa052.jpgBad news for Google, good news for pirates: a pair of security researchers have found a flaw in the way the Chrome browser unpacks encrypted video. It's all rather technical, but the upshot is that pirates have an easy way to save DRM-ed video streams to their desktop.
