http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b788d16609b12669d3517f7c275ae1dd.jpgU.K. band Radiohead are known for doing things unconventionally, but they're also incredibly shrewd marketers who know how to build up hype for themselves and their music. Roughly nine years ago, for example, the bank shocked the world by announcing that fans could pay whatever they wanted for the album In Rainbows that was released directly over the band's website. Now it seems Radiohead is engaging in another zany stunt to promote its upcoming ninth studio album by completely erasing its presence online. by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/e1aa2c556f8df238a08972c6bf0edd5a.jpgI love the iPhone 6s... but as I've said many times, its battery does leave something to be desired, especially now that companies like HTC are releasing phones that purportedly have two-day batteries. So will the iPhone 7 deliver and give me a larger battery after the iPhone 6s had a smaller battery than its predecessor? A new report suggests that it will... but only by a little bit. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/5ce4d8949ee4800135c9977bb86325ac.jpgThere's a new piece of nasty Android malware floating around that Android users should be on the lookout for. Masquerading as a update for Google's mobile Chrome browser, the malware is hosted on webpages designed to look like they are official Google or Android landing pages. Originally spotted by the security firm Zscaler, the malware is designed to monitor call logs, browser history, text messages and banking information. Once installed, the malware logs the aforementioned data and sends it all back to a remote command and control server. What's more, Zscaler notes that the malware is capab…

by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/81b945dd996a8e57477e000f03a8af61.jpg For many people, the camera on their smartphone is the most important feature of the device. Most companies realize this, so over the past few years we’ve seen tons of improvements to mobile cameras with just about every new iteration of flagships. Samsung’s latest, the Galaxy S7, was hyped up on its photo shooting capabilities, and with good reason; it’s arguably the best camera you can find in a smartphone. Up until very recently, however, the crown of “best smartphone camera” always went to Apple. Year in and year out, whatever the most recent iPhone was happened to have the best ava…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/0113305c6995d30902072ccba0e3cb9f.jpg For the cord-cutters of the world, one of the big challenges has been getting around limitations on shows broadcast via traditional outlets and popular cable TV channels. Even when services like Netflix and Hulu were able to get access to some of this traditional programming, they often had to do so via a delay and sometimes through extra charges. Sources familiar with what Hulu has in the works indicate the online platform is planning to roll-out a new streaming service that would provide feeds of broadcast and cable TV channels placing them in competition with pay-TV providers and some …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/84944f0ed9d41f7bc1fdd66f4d99230f.jpg The monthly security update produced by Google is rolling out now. These are the two big announcements from this month’s Android Security Bulletin: To reflect a broader focus, we renamed this bulletin (and all following in the series) to the Android Security Bulletin. These bulletins encompass a broader range of vulnerabilities that may affect Android devices, even if they do not affect Nexus devices. We updated the Android Security severity ratings. These changes were the result of data collected over the last six months on reported security vulnerabilities and aim to align seve…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/aeee8986a9a654f54089d5f8bcfc99db.jpg There was a time when the major U.S. carriers were issuing press releases on a regular basis to announce the addition of new markets to the list of areas covered by their high speed data infrastructure. As the market matured and these major projects concluded, the pace of these announcements waned. Leave it to Verizon to keep plugging away at the pockets of the country that still need coverage as shown in their latest press release announcing the addition of thirteen new markets to their XLTE network. Verizon’s XLTE technology increases available bandwidth available for users by almost…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/aa12ec364e8a300c0ddb7eacacb0cfed.jpg Lenovo’s marketing arm in India has launched a new Twitter campaign via the Moto India account that is teasing a new smartphone coming to the market. The Moto India team does not help too much with clues to which device this might be. However, some recent leaks show the new Moto G and being a budget phone that would fit right in to the Indian market, odds seem to favor that device. The tweets being sent out are setup as “reports” of individuals who have gone missing due to problems with their devices. For instance, one of the tweets suggests users could use a better camera with a more …

This little memory drive is smaller than an SD card and it can fit on a key chain without adding any weight or bulk at all. It's also made out of aluminum and features a nice sleek design. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8f820ba84f0dfa7b2f0d6202cf6e5fa0.jpgOver the weekend, HBO's John Oliver posted a short but sweet video highlighting the myriad of ways in which the world has changed over the last 17 years. Now what's so special about 17, you might naturally be wondering. Well, after a 17-year incubation period spent underground, cicada's in 2016 are set to emerge and greet the world for the first time. And not wanting any cicada to feel out of the loop or likely to make some embarrassing social faux-pas at a party, Oliver took it upon himself to let these hibernating cicada's know what life is like in the present day. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/57c51590d72e95bf9124491e335af744.png Let's say you're stranded on a desert island or even just camping, and you want to charge up your phone. There are obviously no outlets around, which means you're out of luck, right? Wrong. As long as you have the ability to start a fire, you'll be able to charge your phone as long as you have a device called the FlameStower USB Fire Charger. As YouTuber Jonathan Morrison demonstrates in a new video, this nifty gadget really does work, although you shouldn't expect it to be especially fast at charging your device. We’ve already seen some benchmarks that suggest certain hardware configurations, but a new rumor seemingly confirms that hardware and also mentions a price point for the upcoming flagship. If this rumor pans out, expect to see the OnePlus 3 launch with 32 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM as its standard configuration. SamMobile has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 6 will feature this new connector, but is not sure whether it’ll have the latest USB 3.1 standard or an older version. It would make sense for Samsung to sport the USB 3.1 standard, as it also has that USB Power Delivery 2.0 technology for faster charging with it. It’s also able to carry HDMI or Display Port video signals. Previous rumors have hinted that the smartphone would be waterproof (or water resistant), which would make sense…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/150c9779660c99fe4ed7f608bb8cf88d.jpgWell, I suppose it was inevitable. Late last week I wrote a quick post about how I make my iPhone look so much better than yours. Long story short, people constantly email me each time I publish an article with a photo of my iPhone at the top. Why? Because they want the wallpapers I use on my iPhone. So in this post I decided to let people in on the not-so-secret secret of how I make the wallpapers I use. Needless to say, I've received about 175 emails since that article ran from people asking me to send them the wallpapers pictured in the post. Let's try something different this time... (m…

Major tech breakthrough iPhone users have been waiting for is finally here (...but Apple...
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/94f2636e68ffff390e7ce021fd742f8f.jpgWhy is the iPhone 6s Plus so gigantic and unwieldy when Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge is wonderfully compact and manageable? Both smartphones have screens that measure 5.5 inches diagonally, so they should be reasonably comparable in size. But alas, the Galaxy S7 edge is a pleasure to use with one hand while the iPhone 6s Plus is far too huge for most users to comfortably manage. The reason is partially because of Apple's need to keep that great big home button situated beneath the screen for Touch ID fingerprint authentication. Soon, however, Apple might be able to ditch the home button without ha…
