http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/02e9d910b3480cfe4a2c98d3474a8a1d.pngFor a long time I've had a love-hate relationship with Chrome. I love how it opens pages more quickly than any other browser I've used but I hate all the resources that it gobbles up to make that performance happen. I like Microsoft's Edge browser but there's still something missing for me there that I can't quite put my finger on. However, for the past couple of days I've been playing around with the new Vivaldi browser and it looks like I may have finally found the browser that will allow me to comfortably ditch Chrome. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8981af78547c0a631151e7dcab43bc77.jpgStop us if you've heard this one before... dozens of times. A very serious security flaw has been discovered in Adobe Flash and millions of users are impacted. The zero-day vulnerability allows hackers to exploit the flaw and crash a user's system, or even take control of the system and steal private data. It's one of the most serious types of flaws out there and in this case the vulnerability is being actively exploited by hackers. In other words, this isn't some tiny bug discovered by researchers and handled privately with Adobe behind closed doors. Hackers are using the security hole to att…

BlackBerry has been undoubtedly struggling lately. However, the company did manage to generate hype with its first Android-powered smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv. But according to a recent report, that hype only lasted so long. BlackBerry CEO John Chen just confirmed the existence of two new Android-powered devices currently being worked on. The duo will reportedly be cheaper than the Priv, and feature modest specifications. Chen admitted to the mistake of pricing th…

The leaked screenshots contain details on what HTC’s new Sense UI could look like, and it’s nothing like the previous generation. HTC may announce a new breakthrough called ‘Freestyle layouts.’ These are different the…

Looking forward to the summer and fall months, one of the devices that may get quite a bit of attention will be the next Moto X device as it will be the first since Lenovo decided to drop the Motorola branding they got when purchasing Motorola Mobility. We have not seen a lot of news or leaks about Lenovo’s forthcoming flagship, but a unit though to be a prototype or testing unit was recently spotted out in the wild it seems. The devi…

Samsung has seen its earnings deteriorate over the past couple of years but the company is expecting a significant boost in its Q1 2016 earnings thanks in part to sales of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Via Android Central, Samsung is projecting an operating profit of $5.7 billion for Q1 2016, which represents a 10% increase over its operating profit in Q1 2015. The company is also projecting solid revenues of $42.3 billion, an increase over the $40.7 billion in revenues it posted in the same quarter last year. (more…)http://andr…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/53fa180a5d674aa0d711645ab9d08034.jpg Coachella’s organizers have partnered with Square to bring Android Pay-enabled readers to the event, meaning music lovers can spend with their smartphones. Music festival season is in full swing and news that mobile Android payments will be supported at Coachella will mean the end of long lines waiting for the ATM. Square is the ‘exclusive point of sale’ at the festival this year, meaning that a whole host of vendors will be working with the system. It goes without saying that smartphone payments are far quicker than physical cash transactions, so Square’s involvement with Coachell…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/5c6e9a09efd01ad6f69387677172d910.jpgFor the past couple iterations of Android Google has allowed adventurous users to download and test out preview versions of the software before it’s officially available. There are a few caveats to this program, the biggest of which is that you’d have to own a compatible Nexus device. That might change in the near future, though. There’s a snippet of HTML in the website for the developer preview that suggests more devices are coming to the program, including from OEM partners. That heavily implies that you’d be able to install the preview program on a non-Nexus phone you might own. This …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/da1e8033d355e30d9651f7e9429f59a8.jpgGoogle’s failed failed first attempt at wearables sounded very exciting at first, though it soon became apparent Glass would not be the hit product the company may have envisioned. Not only was it an expensive prototype during its limited release, but it was also met with huge privacy-related backlash. Samsung, on the other hand, seems to have the right idea of how to build this kind of product. The Force Awakens wasn't perfect, but it felt more like a Star Wars movie than any of the prequels had, and gave us a whole cast of new characters to root for in the coming years.
