LG took its official wraps off the G5 flagship this week, and so far things are looking up for the manufacturer. At the end of its press conference, LG said the new flagship smartphone and its accessories would arrive sometime in April. However, an online retailer based in the U.K. has listed the phone for pre-order already. Clove has put the LG G5 up for pre-order today. Pricing will start at £539 for the unlocked model, which is equivalent to about $750 USD. This is a bit higher than most were expecting …

And the phones will be sold in the United States, a path of distribution Sony hasn’t fully committed to in the past. Sony has released an infographic showing exactly what makes an Xperia X phone “smarter than your average smartphone”. Some of the reasons include things like the camera having Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, much improved battery management that Sony …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/9ca8e9e69005500f00a6422214f57d85.jpg Gmail’s little sister app, Inbox, is getting some much improved features. You will now be able to Snooze your emails to “later this week” or “this weekend.” I am positive users will love these new snooze features because Google says they were “highly-requested.” Now users can simply snooze an email to “this weekend” and will get an alert later. Also, the weekend can be different for everyone based on their schedule or country, so Google has added a way to select which day or days the weekend is for you. I know many times I have forgotten about emails I had planned on saving for the week…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/7de19428c186220fbbd0ad3749e8102c.jpg Every year, thousands if not millions of consumers either sell their old smartphones for cash or trade them in for next-gen devices, whether they be new iPhones, new Samsung Galaxy models, or even new Windows Phone devices. While this set-up between smartphone owners and trade-in companies has been mutually beneficial for years, a new study finds that it's remarkably easy to access personal and sensitive data from old smartphones. Recently, Avast Software purchased 20 used smartphones from pawn shops across 4 worldwide cities - New York, Paris, Barcelona and Berlin. Following that, a free…

Brilliant car mount holds your smartphone magnetically without adding any thickness
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d00c83097fccc573d9e0590c21b558ee.jpg Smartphone car mounts are an absolute necessity. Smartphones have completely replaced expensive in-car navigation systems — and even car radios at this point — but holding the phone in your hand while navigating can be just as dangerous as texting while driving. In other words, a simple purchase that costs just a few dollars can actually mean the difference between life and death. Of course like all things, not all car mounts are equal. But the BGR Deals team has found a remarkably affordable mount called the Mengo Magna-Snap, which secures your phone magnetically without adding any thick…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8dd29f56b5a47692781948cdb5363b3e.jpg While Netflix was once synonymous for shipping boatloads of DVDs by mail, Netflix today is primarily a streaming-based company with two primary objectives. One, it's dead set on creating a seemingly endless supply of original content. And two, it does all it can to ensure that users stay inside the Netflix universe for as long as possible. In two days, we’ll find out who will take the crown for best film of the year, as well as the winners of all the other awards. Until then, we’ll check out some of the trailers released in the past few days. And we can’t but hope next week will bring us a lot more trailers -- after all, it makes plenty of sense to release teasers for upcoming movies on the same weekend that America will be eagerly awaiting the results of the Oscars. Click here to view the embedded video. Need help using Chromecast Audio to cast your favorite tunes from your phone, laptop or tablet to your speakers? A new video from Google has you covered. Don’t worry if you’re strapped for time. The video clocks in at a minute and five seconds. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/cff25070524a7c6ce54818baf279ba89.png With the Galaxy S7, Samsung is releasing two slightly different models based on the processor inside. Consumers in the United States will get the model with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 while the rest of the world sees Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8890. That’s not a very large difference and it’s doubtful any consumers will experience (or even get the opportunity to notice) anything. LG, however, is sending a very different G5 to Latin America. Two key internal specifications for the G5 in Latin America will be different from what the rest of the world gets. http://androidforum.us/data…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/7c1e913cc2e396b0586a13e118b4d57f.jpg Samsung finally got a win in its ongoing patent battle with Apple when a panel of three federal appeals court judges overturned a $120 million jury verdict against the South Korean manufacturer. According to reports, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., said Samsung did not infringe on Apple’s “quick links” patent, and that two other Apple patents covering other iPhone features were invalid. The ruling reverses a jury verdict from 2014, in which Samsung was ordered to pay Apple nearly $120 million for using Apple’s patented technology without permi…

Two-year contracts are back at Sprint
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/2328414d48862383e44f5e89c7d2d5da.jpg Sprint’s stance on two-year contracts has been confusing for the last six months. It was back in August that the carrier was rumored to be doing away with two-year contracts, but it wasn’t until last month when Sprint officially (and quietly) ended offering them to customers. Less than two months after dropping them, Sprint is once again offering two-year contracts. Michelle Leff Mermelstein, a Sprint spokesperson, told FierceWireless about the reinstatement: “We listened to our customers and are giving them more choices to get their new device. Sprint is the only carrier to …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/79e8737b209c526ee22cddad46116c25.png For all of the claims that Apple's software has been on the decline and that the company downright ignores user complaints, a recent saga involving Apple Pencil functionality underscores that Apple does, in fact, take the opinions of its users into account. A few days ago, a number of iPad Pro users who had been using a beta version of iOS 9.3 began reporting that the software frustratingly removed Apple Pencil functionality that was previously available in earlier incarnations of iOS. Specifically, these users discovered that the latest iOS 9.3 beta limits Apple Pencil operations to scen…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/f061fe15409097bc2d4cc61f8398b408.jpg It's funny how a few dollars here and there adds up over time. Think about how many batteries you've gone through over the years in all of your remote controls, cameras, toys, and everything else you've ever owned that was powered by batteries. Now think about ho much money you would have saved if the prices of each pack of batteries you've ever purchased had been cut by $2, $5, or even more. We're here to tell you that you're nuts if you ever purchase batteries in a store again. You can the same performance from other brands as you do from Duracell and Energizer, and you'll save hundreds…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/223b7b521718b9cca7a261de0af2d7d6.jpg If you've ever spent enough time on Twitter, you've probably encountered a truly obnoxious person who can only argue by lobbing personal insults at you and who delights in offending everyone by making racist and sexist statements. We typically think of these people as loser trolls who lead miserable, lonely lives. But what happens when one of them happens to be a doughy stubby-fingered billionaire who could soon become the president of the United States? That's basically what we're seeing right now with Donald Trump, who has essentially become Lord of the Trolls on Twitter and who can com…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/45f658de03bb55b1ecdc7bb791a99036.jpg Smartphones are becoming more and more sophisticated mobile PCs, yet device makers still haven't figured out how to significantly improve their battery lives. Instead, handset makers are deploying various “fixes” in place, meant to ensure that battery life if on par with expectations from customers and that phones can last through at least a day of use. This year's Mobile World Congress brought us a slew of hot mobile devices that will be available in stores later this year, and many of them employ various energy-saving techniques, as well as fast-charging capabilities that are meant to e…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/3178b8f4ca0cb514589676b8948f2b50.jpg Samsung has not had an easy time in court against Apple in recent years and has been handed a few significant defeats in patent infringement cases. The South Korean giant did manage to reduce the damages awarded to Apple in a first instance – the company paid $548.2 million in its first case, just over half of what Apple was awarded initially. And Samsung has now obtained another significant win in a second case, where it just overturned a $120 million verdict. It's a mobile company, a futuristic R&D lab and even, perhaps, an automaker. Google is a lot of things and because it's so giant, it's easy to miss some cool stuff in the shuffle. What you probably don't realize is that a lot of the things you missed could end up being your favorite Google apps and services. There are dozens upon dozens of Google apps and other products out there that are worth checking out. Sure search, Gmail and Google Calendar are must-haves, but Google's utility extends far beyond its core products. Earli…
