The OnePlus 5 survives bends, scratches, and burns
by Guest Peter Holden- 0 replies
The OnePlus 5 launched yesterday with most of the requisite flagship components that we would expect to see in a high-end smartphone including a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6/8GB RAM and a dual-camera setup. If you are thinking of buying a OnePlus 5 (via the early drop code), you may be curious how the handset stands up to […] Come comment on this article: The OnePlus 5 survives bends, scratches, and burns Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies

Last week Early Warning Systems announced their new Zelle payment processing system to enable nearly instantaneous transfers of funds for P2P transactions. This move seems to be a response to Apple’s steps to include better P2P features in their iMessage platform on iOS devices. Not to be outdone, PayPal announced today a new feature that […] Come comment on this article: PayPal adding an instant bank transfer option to platform Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

Fitbit’s best-selling Charge 2 band is still on sale on Amazon
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
The Fitbit Charge 2 is by far our favorite device that Fitbit makes. It’s the perfect balance of style, size, and features. It’s not big and bulky like the Blaze (which is still pretty awesome, by the way) and yet it still has support for things like smartphone notifications, heart rate tracking, and more. Right now, the Charge 2 is being discounted on Amazon, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to see for yourself what makes this fitness tracker so great. The Charge 2 is on sale in both small and large sizes, and you’ll find some highlights from the product page below. PurePulse continuous, automatic wrist-based heart rate tracking to better measure calorie burn…

Consumer Reports confirms that yep, cable companies still suck
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
The results of Consumer Reports' annual Telecoms Survey are here, and the results are not remotely shocking. Once again, big cable companies achieve low scores in nearly every category. People hate the companies, hate the customer service, don't think it's particularly worthwhile, and find it's unreliable. Mysteriously, small, non-traditional cable companies like municipal broadband providers or Google Fiber score much better when providing the same kinds of service. A more cynical man would probably draw the conclusion that cable companies are abusing regional monopolies to shameless rip consumers off, but that could never happen in competition-paradise America, right…

Tesla is ‘actively talking’ about opening up its Supercharger network to other automakers
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
When the Model S was first released a few years ago, one of the biggest hurdles Tesla had to contend with centered on 'range anxiety', the fear or belief that a Tesla out on the open road was liable to run out of juice before reaching its destination or a charging station. To help assure prospective buyers that they didn't have to be afraid of becoming stranded, Tesla had the foresight to start rolling out a Supercharger network that allowed Tesla owners to charge up their cars free of charge on long drives. What's more, Tesla's Supercharger stations have the ability to charge a Model S or Model X relatively quickly, with a station being able to provide a car with 170 mil…

Michelin’s newest tire doesn’t need air, and can be ‘recharged’ rather than thrown away
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Like many other companies in the automotive industry, Michelin is looking far into the future to envision what its products might look like some day. The result is a new concept tire that not only looks a good bit different from the rubber currently wrapped around your wheels, but is also completely airless. Michelin calls it the Vision tire, and it really has to be seen to be believed. Continue reading... Samsung has a wide selection of exciting devices still set to launch this year, from the Galaxy Note 8 to the Galaxy S7 Active, but if recent leaks are to be believed, there's another, far stranger phone coming to the market as well. Based on images spotted on Chinese telecommunication authority TENAA's website, Samsung is preparing to introduce a new flip phone in the coming weeks. Continue reading... OnePlus didn’t need a flashy, in-person launch event for its 2017 flagship to impress. Instead of bringing members of the media in from all over the world for a busy and exhausting presentation, OnePlus introduced us to the OnePlus 5 through a brief pre-recorded video. It gave the company an opportunity to talk about what […] Come comment on this article: OnePlus 5 is official, priced at $479 with no-compromise specs Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

The iPhone didn’t just change the world, it changed Apple
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

We've all seen the sales figures for the iPhone — hundreds of millions of devices selling with shocking regularity, leading to a total sales number north of one billion phones since its debut in 2007 — but the figures are so gaudy it's hard to even put it in perspective. A new report from the Wall Street Journal does a pretty stellar job of this by showing how the iPhone not only compares with other now iconic products from the Barbie doll to the Sony PlayStation, but also how Apple itself has evolved since the iPhone's launch. Google will help you Search for a job
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Google wants to help you Search for a job. It may have seemed like one of the more boring Google I/O announcements last month, but Google’s new job listing feature may become a useful tool for both end users looking for a new job and companies that post want ads. Google is essentially making Search a jobs portal if you use the right keywords. Continue reading... How to get AirPods shipped to your door right now
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
Honestly, I love my AirPods. The concept is fantastic, the cordless design is a breath of fresh air, and the sound quality is so much better than you might think if you’ve never tried out a pair. I haven’t used any other headphones since I got my AirPods, and most other people who have actually managed to get their hands on AirPods also love them. But Apple just can’t figure out how to build them quickly enough to meet demand — it’s been six months since they were released, and the shipping quote on Apple’s website is still at six weeks. If you want AirPods and you want them right now, order them on Amazon. They’re in stock and eligible for free Prime delivery, which m…

Eager gadget fans are focused on the upcoming unveiling of the next-generation OnePlus 5 later this morning, and it's shaping up to be one of the hottest new flagship phones of the year. As impressive as the new OnePlus handset seems in all the leaks and reports, however, it's not enough to draw too much attention away from the iPhone 8. Apple's tenth-anniversary iPhone will be the biggest new release of 2017 by a massive margin. The more we learn about Apple's upcoming new iPhone 8, the more anxious we get for mid-September to finally arrive so we can finally see Apple take the wraps off its latest and greatest iPhone. And if the iPhone 8 ends up looking anything like th…

Despite garnering a ton of plaudits when it first launched, the Galaxy Note 7 turned into a total disaster that culminated in Samsung issuing a global recall for the handset. With one day to go until one of the most exciting smartphones of the summer becomes official, there’s not much that we don’t know about it. And thanks to a new video that looks at OnePlus’s reasoning for designing the OnePlus 5, we now know why the handset looks like the iPhone 7 Plus but not the iPhone 8. We also know that it’s going to be more expensive than last year’s OnePlus flagships. Continue reading... These are the states that actually care about internet companies screwing you over
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
The FCC is currently in the middle of a fight between internet providers and state regulators over ads for internet service. In short, the telecoms industry wants to use an FCC rule about internet speeds claimed in adverts -- namely that advertising a "maximum" speed that isn't really achievable isn't false advertising -- to protect itself from lawsuits from individual US states. Two industry groups have already filed a petition with the FCC to this effect. As you'd expect, states aren't wild about giving up consumer protection powers to a decidedly non-consumer-friendly FCC, and 35 states have banded together to lobby the FCC to ignore the industry petition. The list …

Samsung accidentally confirmed a new version of the Galaxy S8

As if we needed any more proof that the Galaxy S8 Active would be one of Samsung's next releases, the company itself just revealed the phone's existence. Roland Quandt stumbled upon the phone's name on Samsung Knox on Monday morning, bearing the model number G892A. Curious about what model number accompanied the Galaxy S7 Active, released last year around this time? G891A. Continue reading... The iPhone 8 is coming, and it’s gonna be big
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The iPhone 8 is going to be the most exciting new iPhone this year (or next), featuring a brand new design that will bring some interesting features not seen before. One of them is an almost bezel-free display that will occupy the entire front side of the device. That means users will get a large screen in a body that will closely resemble the current 4.7-inch iPhone. It also means Apple will likely increase the screen resolution to account for the extra height. But because the iPhone 8 is Apple’s flagship smartphone this year, it means the phone’s resolution has to be at least on par with the resolution of the Plus models, if not better. A new report that BGR can corr…
