When Microsoft said its E3 2017 briefing would be packed, it wasn't kidding. We saw over 40 games in just over an hour and a half, including more than 20 console exclusives. We were also introduced to the Xbox One X, which will play games in true 4K and launches on November 7th for $499. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Scroll on to see everything that happened at the briefing. Continue reading... by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

It's E3 2017 time, and as per usual, Microsoft is the first of the big three console makers to host its annual product keynote. The biggest reveal of the company's showcase — and potentially of this year's E3 as a whole — is undoubtedly the much-hyped "Project Scorpio," a beefed-up Xbox One that Microsoft simply won't stop calling "the world's most powerful console." It's called Xbox One X, and here it is. Continue reading... When the Xbox team takes the stage in California this afternoon, they will give us our first look at Project Scorpio - the 4K Xbox One that they claim is the most powerful game console of all time. Even the PS4 Pro doesn't have the specs to match it. Continue reading... Video: Richard Hammond miraculously survives a harrowing accident involving a $1 million...

In a harrowing incident that thankfully resulted in no fatalities, former Top Gear host Richard Hammond recently lost control of a $1 million Rimac Concept One supercar and crashed into a house while driving in Switzerland. Hammond was driving the car for a segment that was set to air on The Grand Tour, a car-enthusiast show on Amazon Video. Jeremy Clarkson, a co-host on the show who you might also recognize from Top Gear, took to Twitter this weekend and said that the incident was the "biggest crash I've ever seen and the most frightening." Tim Cook takes a jab at Windows during MIT commencement speech
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

The intensity of of the Mac vs PC war today is a far cry from what it used to be back in the 90s. Even in the early 2000s, the debate between Mac fans and Windows enthusiasts was operating at full throttle, in large part due to Apple's wildly successful Get a Mac ad campaign which featured Justin Long as an endearing embodiment of a Mac and John Hodgman as a stodgy, and yet likable, PC. In recent years, the Mac vs PC debate has simmered down and has largely been supplanted by the iPhone vs Android debate. Still, every once in a long while we'll see an Apple executive or well-known Apple personality throw out what can arguably be categorized as a nostalgia-fueled jab at Wi…

Email was one of the first methods of digital communication that allowed groups of people to talk, collaborate, or share. It was (and still is) an incredibly important part of the business world, but on the consumer side things have shifted more towards quicker means of communication like SMS and digital message services. Tim Cook says Apple’s AI is already watching you
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

When you talk about Silicon Valley tech giants using AI to improve an existing product, there's a decent chance you're thinking of Google. The recent I/O developer conference confirmed that Google thinks AI and machine learning will be all that matters in the future, and nearly every new thing it announced for Android had some kind of AI angle. But Apple is trying to gently remind people that while it might not throw its advancements around so much, Apple's not falling behind in the AI department. Continue reading... As obsessed as I have become with KOF’98 UM OL from last week's selection of free iPhone games, I have a feeling that I'm going to have to take a break to check out some of this week's free offerings. Art of Conquest is especially intriguing, mixing elements of open world RPGs and strategy games like Clash of Clans. And I can never stop myself from playing a crane game. Especially a free one. ‘Star Wars Battlefront 2’ already looks better than the first
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

The Star Wars Battlefront reboot from a couple of years ago was a pretty big hit across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Star Wars is obviously a hugely popular franchise, so anything less than complete and utter failure meant that a sequel was inevitable. We first got a look at Star Wars Battlefront 2 a couple of months back, but at today's EA Play event at E3, the company rolled out a lengthy gameplay video as well as an all-new trailer. iOS 11’s new image formats will prevent photos from eating up all your storage
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
Even though Apple mercifully killed the 16GB storage tier on the iPhone last year, running out of storage still remains a frustrating issue for many iPhone users. Thanks to the iPhone's ability to shoot 4K videos and take high-resolution photos -- not to mention storage-hungry apps and the proliferation of podcasts -- even users with 128GB of storage can quickly find themselves running low on storage space. In an effort to lighten the load, Apple with iOS 11 will incorporate new brand new camera formats that should go a long ways towards freeing up precious iPhone space. Originally introduced at WWDC earlier this week, the two new formats -- HEVC (High Efficiency Video…

Intel is preparing to spoil everyone else’s fun
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

Intel, comfortably the largest manufacturer of desktop processors, is no stranger to throwing its weight around to protect its core business. It has spent years fighting a massive $1.2 billion fine from the EU for violating anti-trust law to shut out AMD, its only real competitor. Now, in a new blog post, Intel seems to be quietly warning companies like Microsoft and Qualcomm not to even think about using emulation to run proper Windows 10 on mobile-style processors. So the launch of Blackberry’s new phone is going really well
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

It's not easy being a BlackBerry fan these days. Not only is the brand little more than a shell of its former self, but there just hasn't been much for BlackBerry diehards to get excited about on the hardware front as of late. Now, the most recent device to carry the once-great BlackBerry logo, the KeyOne, is experiencing some downright hilarious hardware issues. As it turns out, the phone's edge-to-edge glass display isn't actually glued to the rest of the device, and early adopters are now reporting that the screen has a habit of just popping right out. If there’s one thing that amazes me after all these years of being an iOS user, it's how Apple forces me to relearn iOS every once in a while. If you're picking up an iPhone or iPad for the first time this year, you won’t have any iOS usage history to affect your experience. Things like 3D Touch on the iPhone or drag and drop on the iPad will be included in what already appears to be a great iOS 11 experience. But if you’re a seasoned iOS user, then there are a few new tricks that’ll force you to rethink the way you’re using the iPad. A couple of short videos demoing the drag and drop feature in action on the iPad reveal the many ways this tiny feature will change inte…

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 48 minutes away from being swept in the 2017 NBA Finals. Game 3 was as competitive a game as we've seen from the two teams so far, but despite having home court advantage and a stellar performance from Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers couldn't stop the Golden State Warriors from retaking the lead in the final minutes and setting up a potential four-game sweep. Anyone who played video games back in the early-to-mid 90s will remember Bubsy — and for those who were subjected to the furry orange feline's "3D" adventure for the original PlayStation, you probably went the past two decades thanking your lucky stars that you never had to hear that name again. Our favorite new smart thermostat isn’t just controlled by Alexa, it can replace your Echo...
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

Last year’s Ecobee3 was by far our favorite smart thermostat, combining all of the intelligent features we’ve come to expect with the convenience of Alexa and HomeKit integration. We’ve recommended it time and time again and if you listened to our recommendation, you made a fantastic decision. But now there’s a new model available from Ecobee, and it offers one huge new feature that last year’s model doesn’t have. While the Ecobee3 can be controlled by Alexa, the new Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat can actually replace the need for an Echo speaker. Using far-field mic technology, you can speak your "Hey Alexa" commands from anywhere in proximity of the thermostat and Alexa will …
