This iOS 11 concept officially has me excited
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

We're just weeks away from WWDC, Apple's big yearly developer conference where it reveals the next version of iOS. There's been a surprising lack of leaks about iOS 11, so most of our expectations are based on wishful thinking and guesswork. MacStories has put together an iOS 11 concept that focuses on what's going to change for iPads. Before you watch it, be warned: the concepts make so much sense that you're going to be left hating Apple, because there's no way something this good is actually making its way into iOS 11. by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

How much would you expect to pay for a good quality 4K TV with a 65-inch screen? $1,500? Now, what if that 4K TV also had the best available smart TV software baked right in, meaning you didn’t have to worry about getting extra set-top boxes to stream Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or anything else? $1,750? $2,000? Well check this out: the just-announced Element 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV - Amazon Fire TV Edition is now available for pre-order on the Amazon website, and it costs just $899.99. Seriously, how crazy is that? There are also 43-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch versions that are crazy-cheap also — for example, the 55-inch model is just $649.99. These new TVs launc…

Apple may be playing with fire in China
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

When Apple released its earnings report for the March quarter, there was one data point that jumped off the page regarding iPhone sales. Although iPhone sales declined 1% year over year, Apple saw its revenue increase in every geographic region the company operates in, save for China. Specifically, Apple saw its revenue in China drop by 14% year over year, a factor widely attributed to slumping iPhone sales during the March quarter. And though the iPhone 7 Plus was more popular among Chinese consumers than Apple anticipated, Tim Cook conceded during Apple's conference call that older generation iPhone models "didn't perform as well." Thousands of AT&T and DirecTV workers are going on strike this weekend
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
On Friday afternoon, thousands of AT&T employees walked off the job in protest of the company's inability to come to an agreement on union contracts with its workforce. Wireless workers from 36 states (and DC) will take part in the strike, along with wireline workers from California, Nevada and Connecticut and DirecTV technicians in California and Nevada. If an agreement can't be reached quickly, retail stores in several states will likely shut down this weekend as well. Continue reading... A look at 100 awesome iOS 11 features we hope Apple introduces at WWDC
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
WWDC is now just about two weeks away and Apple has done an unusually solid job of keeping upcoming iOS 11 features under wraps. Still, it's not as if Apple has been able to prevent any iOS 11 rumors from leaking out. Over the past few months, for example, we've seen indications that iOS 11 will feature enhanced Siri functionality, support for multi-user video chatting in FaceTime, peer-to-peer payments via Apple Pay, a Dark Mode option, smarter battery management software, and improved call quality. We even saw one sketchy rumor claiming that iOS 11 will alert a user when someone else takes a screenshot of an iMessage conversation. Now that's all well and good, and ev…

The hottest new Nintendo Switch game that isn’t Mario Kart is $20 off on Amazon
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

It's not often that the best new home video game console and the best new portable video game console are the same console. But that's exactly the case right now, since the Nintendo Switch is the apple of every casual and moderate gamer's eye. The Switch is so hot right now that it's next to impossible to find unless you're willing to pay a premium and order one on Amazon, but millions of people have managed to get their hands on a Switch over the past few months. If you count yourself among them, you'll be happy to learn that the hottest new Switch game (other than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, of course) is currently on sale on Amazon for $20 off. That's right, you can snag a co…

These are the best Google Assistant features that Siri can’t match
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
Earlier this week, Google finally put the Google Assistant onto iPhones. For the first time, Apple fanboys can use Google's AI to perform a bunch of tricks, but much more importantly, it means we can finally have a Google Assistant vs Siri showdown. This isn't a fair fight on several counts: Google's been doing AI for much longer and has more data to mine; but Siri's also the built-in AI, which gives her access to far more of the iPhone's functions. But despite blatant Apple favoritism for Siri, Google Assistant can still pull a bunch of tricks that Siri can only dream of. Continue reading... Google accidentally teased a new Pixel launcher at I/O 2017

Google I/O is great because you get to see everything Google has in store in the near future. Sometimes that’s not always intentional, either. As spotted by 9to5 Google, the Pixel devices in the I/O sandbox feature a redesigned and unreleased launcher, which is something we haven’t heard anything about up to this point. LG’s next flagship might make the switch to OLED displays
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

2017 might be the last year where LCD screens are still prominent on flagship smartphones. Samsung has already ditched them in favor of their fantastic OLED screens, but there are a few holdouts (LG, Apple, HTC) that still use LCD panels. Not that LCDs are bad or anything, but compared to an OLED, they leave you wanting […] Come comment on this article: LG’s next flagship might make the switch to OLED displays Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

Guess what: Apple's iPhone 8 is bringing back the headphone jack
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
...sort of Rumors surrounding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 have been swirling for months now, and it seems like most of the major bases have been covered. The tenth-anniversary iPhone will seemingly sport a bold new design with glass panels on the front and back, and a stainless steel mid-frame sandwiched between them. There will not be a physical home button on the front of the phone. Instead, the display will barely have any bezel around it, and the Touch ID fingerprint scanner will be embedded beneath the display itself. There are some other rumors that cover additional new features, such as a vertically oriented dual-lens rear camera that enables new augmented re…

Watch Google Home crush Alexa and Siri in an epic accent head-to-head
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

With yesterday's announcement of a suite of new Google Home features — including voice calls and music streaming support — Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant are now more similar than ever before. The inevitable question of which is best for you largely comes down to personal taste, as well as what devices you already own, but there's no denying that the trio of digital assistants definitely have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to voice recognition. That's made abundantly clear in a new video test conducted by Wired, but the results aren't really even close. Continue reading...
