http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6ecc305921cb55848102aba353814392.png We have literally no idea how Amazon’s Prime Music is doing commercially, but it did recently add “hundreds of thousands of songs” and hundreds of playlists to the service. The expanded availability of music is good for its current users, which can listen through their smartphones, computers, and Amazon’s cloud player. It’s not clear what songs from what labels have been added, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Amazon recently struck more than a few huge deals. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/bcc31c13cedb884b413873d802f678c0.jpg We know HTC is planning its entrance into the smartwatch market, and we thought we might have seen a glimpse of a prototype in a promotional HTC video. But now, HTC has come out and denied that the smartwatch which appears in the video is not a real product. “HTC encourages our design team to explore and tinker with new ideas and even models, as is the case with the watch some viewers noticed in our recent HTC Design video. It in no way indicates an actual product HTC is planning to release. Keep an eye on this space for exciting new products from HTC when they are ready to be a…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b00a09dd2af7c4e1f53639a8b871e90d.jpg Last week a Sony device carrying model number D6603 was spotted in an FCC filing. A new device going by model number D6653, which has been identified as the Sony Xperia Z3 has surfaced in a new filing with a new FCC ID number, PY7PM-0806. It is suspected this is the international version of the Xperia Z3 which will surface in Asian markets, notably in Japan with NTT DoCoMo. Like the filing for the D6603, this latest update does not provide much in the way of useful information other than serving as an indicator that the device is very close to being released to the market. Sources suspect…

Here’s yet another way the iPhone 6 is messing with Samsung
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/df79e2b1b4402329dc36e5647c8c9c8e.jpg Samsung has already started making fun in a TV commercial of the unreleased iPhone 6, telling potential buyers that its Android handsets had bigger displays for quite a while in an obvious attempt to kill the iPhone 6 buzz and divert attention to its own 2014 flagship handset. But the company appears to actually have a real iPhone 6-related problem, Digitimes reports, which may affect its own smartphone launch plans. Apple’s massive metal chassis orders with suppliers are apparently preventing Samsung from placing its own metal chassis orders for a future iPhone 6 killer that would ditch pla…

Following Samsung, Conan O'Brien was next to take shots at the unreleased iPhone 6 smartphone during a monologue on Tuesday. GigaOm reports the company is coming to France with 1Tbps of bandwidth, which apparently is more capacity than some of the country’s top ISPs have. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6621f6bd2c68a1141e6f21638d3cee5a.jpg Apple is widely expected to launch at least a couple of different iWatch models this fall, that will be laden with many sensors for fitness and health purposes, and connect to iPhones for notifications and other data. While VentureBeat has learned from sources in the know that Apple has bigger smartwatch plans than that, as the company is working with famed watch giant Swatch on releasing several other iWatch models, the Swiss company told Bloomberg that it doesn't plan to work with Apple on the iWatch. This is the metal Galaxy S5 you’ve been waiting for… without the metal
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/cfa864f6bea3e4bab4df73646dd3b9bc.jpg Samsung has long been rumored to work on a new flagship smartphone made of metal, for a change, that will take on the upcoming iPhone 6, and two different online publications have posted images of the device, including Tinhte and SamMobile. Unfortunately, for Galaxy fans waiting for an all-metal high-end Galaxy Alpha to come out this fall, it looks like the handset won’t have that much metal and that it won’t necessarily be that high-end either. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8fa6e1bae9d4ff9c9c330fd169b720c8.jpg After several months of rumors regarding a Samsung premium phone, we finally have the best pictures yet of the device. No it’s not the Galaxy S 5 Prime, nor is is the Galaxy F. It’s the Galaxy Alpha. This phone will feature metal, but before you get too excited, it’s only going to be partially metal. It appears they have opted for the faux leather back along with aluminum sides. Now as far as specs go, surprisingly Samsung has opted for a smaller display. The way things are nowadays, you might be able to refer to this one as a “mini.” It will feature a 4.7-inch display, but the resol…

by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/77ebc7e9c1a042664c3cce043ae0db7b.jpg Samsung recently released a commercial telling iPhone fans to stop waiting for a bigger iPhone, and apparently Conan O’Brien saw it as well, and is continuing the razzing. It is widely expected that Apple will offer a bigger 4.7-inch display on the upcoming iPhone 6. In yesterday’s opening monologue, Conan said the new iPhone 6 will be called, “Last year’s Samsung Galaxy.” Actually if you think about it, he should have called it the “2012 Samsung Galaxy” since that phone had a 4.8-inch display, which is much closer to the rumored 4.7-inch display that the iPhone 6 will sport. If you…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/bcfc138b6f4f956712991693fc39bf58.png In addition to getting new ad extensions, Google Maps is getting a brand new Explore feature that’s going to make finding new locations and points of interest even easier. Tapping the new Explore button at the bottom of Google Maps opens up a pane that displays different kinds of places to visit in your general location. After confirming your location, you can specify how close you’d like recommendations to be (within 10 minutes walking distance or 20 minutes driving distance, for example) and what time of day you’re interested in going, and Google populates the results based on th…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d5b7d523e7fb681831581ffc9c1e174b.png We knew Foursquare was planning on spinning off its check-in feature to Swarm, a companion application to the location discovery app. That change is officially happening tomorrow, along with some other new changes and features to Foursquare, one of which is a brand new logo. Aside from the flatter, cleaner logo, Foursquare is completely dropping off its ability to check-in to locations without Swarm. Fortunately, Swarm integrates nicely into Foursquare’s new user interface, which is seeing some pretty great improvements. It’s also getting a more personalized touch by allowing…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/13af062ee6219a9f33e2a530d18d6c7e.jpg There was a great deal of interest surrounding Apple's iBeacons when they launched alongside iOS 7 late last year, but as they are still in the initial stages of deployment, we haven't seen much data regarding their effectiveness. Advertisers claimed that the potential for iBeacons as a new platform was vast, and now we're finally beginning to see the results. 9to5Mac shares a report from InMarket, a company currently installing iBeacons in grocery stores, which illustrates the point of the advertisers perfectly. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/77082cdabfec10c4e79642177f86e6ec.jpg Microsoft reported its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday afternoon. While the company missed Wall Street's consensus mainly due to poor performance out of its newly acquired Nokia smartphone division, all in all it was a fairly solid quarter with operating income coming in at $6.48 billion on revenue that beat analysts' estimates at $23.38 billion. While we still don't know how well the company's Surface tablets are selling — in fact, the odds are very good that we'll never know — Microsoft CFO Amy Hood did share a bit of good news during the company's earnings conference call on Tue…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/276c723d088bf6d93360086b1273c0cb.png In the Android world, the third-party keyboard apps segment is a crowded one for app developers. That has not stopped developers from Fleksy from continuing to work on their version of a keyboard. The latest update that takes it up to version 3.0 introduces some new features and according to Fleksy, positions them to transition the keyboard to the iOS world when iOS 8 is released later this year. As far as the Android version updates, Fleksy has introduced a new “surface design” that will let them sell new themes via in-app purchases. For this update, they also officially released 17 n…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/78f73afa8ced7ee4ea0a547ed7de81a4.jpg We have already seen a few images of the Sony Xperia Z3 surface, including some that contrast it with a Samsung Galaxy Note, but details about the hardware have been scant. Tipster @evleaks has supposedly unearthed some details about the hardware. According to a new post, the Xperia Z3 will feature a Snapdragon 801 running at 2.4GHz and mated with an Adreno 330 GPU. This is not a major step up from the Xperia Z2 and if accurate would be a disappointment for those who were hoping to see the Snapdragon 805 used. Other specs are more in line with what has been suspected for the device, inclu…

Sources indicate the update not only includes several “under-the-hood” improvements, it comes with a new kernel and baseband. The firmware version for this update is XXU1ANG2. No specific details are available, but at least one user has reported the amount of useable RAM was reduced after receiving the update. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d47e605309f17e8b00e03097332077c1.jpg On July 24, Verizon will have yet another handset under its belt. The HTC One Remix will be available on the carrier’s network for $99 when signing a new two-year contract. The handset, known as the HTC One Mini 2 everywhere else, is essentially a watered-down, smaller version of the HTC One (M8). Like many of Big Red’s other devices, the HTC One Remix can utilize the new XLTE network speeds. HTC has made a few changes to make this mid-range handset possible. The display has been downsized to 4.5 inches and the resolution is presumably 720p (as Verizon only calls it HD). The Duo Camera …
