http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/0b39eec886fb395881657d0d6de506f4.png After being pirated prior to its official release, Modern Combat 5: Blackout is now available in the Play Store. It was originally scheduled for a July 24 release. Gameloft must have decided that it was not necessary to wait any longer for a game that was being pirated and gaining attention for the wrong reason. For those of you who are unaware, the Modern Combat series is a first person shooter that really pushes boundaries in terms of mobile gaming. The graphics and gameplay are widely applauded and that is what has Gameloft to keep making new installments. Hit the break for the galle…

Even Adblock Plus users can’t escape canvas fingerprinting, but the company explained on its blog there is a way to deal with it, and with cookies for that matter, using its browser plugin. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/38d7329c471e3029bd7f3c4f79a66ce5.jpg The LG G3 is one of the latest Android beasts to hit stores, and one of the few smartphones that actually packs a high-resolution 2K display that offers users an even better mobile experience, whether they’re browsing the web, watching videos or – especially – playing games. So why on earth would you want G3 buyers to play games that occupy only a tiny portion of that gorgeous new display, LG? http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/fe4e5287fe128282753e517469ee9784.png Not too long ago, Google Search started returning results for eligible ads whenever you searched things like hotels or restaurants. These results quickly show you nearby and relevant locations, which is great if you’re trying to find somewhere to eat or go and need to see what’s in the area. Starting today, those ad extensions are also going to start showing up in Google Maps, too. Whenever you search for any type of location, the results you see in Maps will show ads for businesses or places if applicable. Searching for a restaurant will show places to eat near you, and you’…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/84c5d4d515c5c2c8bda978a91b51f4dc.png About a month ago we let you know that Motorola was working with a company called VivaInk to create digital tattoos that can be used to unlock the Moto X. Now, Motorola has made the product more official by releasing a promotional video about the tattoos. The tattoo (non-permanent) is an adhesive unit that can be applied to the skin and used much like the way NFC is used — by holding the tattoo near your device, it will unlock it automatically. The tattoos come in packs of 10 and sell for $10. Each tattoo has an expected lifetime of five days before falling off. (Of course any cont…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b20b4c593ffd669272f13cba2e09e6e3.jpg Following the release of the original iPhone in 2007 and the subsequent launch of Android, many people with work-issued phones spent years asking for their employers to switch away from BlackBerry smartphones to more modern devices. Finally, as Apple and Google increased their focus on security and BlackBerry hit dire straights a few years ago, workers began getting what that wanted and bring your own device (BYOD) policies became more common. More recently, however, an interesting trend is being observed: Workers want their BlackBerrys back. Continue reading... http://androidforum.…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/4e651f9e517ec6d4c67d9a9ef82095c5.jpg Sony took advantage of Microsoft's early missteps to ensure that the PlayStation 4 would come out on top as the new console generation kicked off, but after being on the market for over half a year, one surprising disparity has begun to arise in the Xbox One's favor. Despite a steady stream of updates on both consoles, the PS4 has gained very little in the way of new features while the Xbox One is loaded with functionality it didn't have at launch. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/5bd7b320dda9a559d6f904f273c28f69.jpg Android's notification system is without question the best in the business right now. It's flexible and actionionable, providing a means for users to interact with notifications to save steps. For example, a user can archive or delete a new email in Gmail without ever having to open up the app. As great as Android's notification system is, however, there are still plenty of apps that abuse it and pester users with annoying or useless notifications. Thankfully, there is a remarkably simple way to stop annoying apps from bugging you with notifications. Continue reading... http://andro…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/7e02f742122ba2ea0476bea3e75c5b11.jpg Watch Dogs is one of the best games of the year and a decent showcase title for the new generation consoles, but it still doesn't stand up to the seemingly professionally doctored demo from E3 2012. What we saw two years ago was a game that looked more stunning than just about anything else on the market -- the reality wasn't quite as impressive. Now, just two months after the game's release, PC modder Federico Rojas (aka TheWorst) has released the final version of his graphics mod for Watch Dogs on the PC, bringing the retail release up to speed with the pipe dream from the original demo. …

A tiny wearable smartphone accessory that can help you quickly unlock the Moto X and other 2013 Moto Droid handsets? Well, Motorola has devised a similar version of the Skip, but this time around it goes on your skin rather than on a piece of clothing. The company has partnered with VivaLnk, and started selling a temporary Digital Tattoo that can be worn on the user’s skin to quickly unlock the Moto X. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/5bf07e937448f78eb957ba1edf2ffd20.jpg Among Android enthusiasts, the OnePlus One is easily the most desirable new smartphone of 2014 so far. It doesn't have the 2K display from LG's G3, the gorgeous metal build from the HTC One (M8) or the massive marketing budget backing Samsung's Galaxy S5, but it's a cutting edge smartphone powered by the highly hackable CyanogenMod software. What's more, it's shockingly affordable. The only problem, of course, is that it's still almost impossible to buy one. But thankfully, OnePlus just gave hopeful prospective One owners their best chance yet to get their hands on one. Continue readin…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/222dfd7b11be923495bae1b6325da9c9.png The war between Android and iOS isn’t just about smartphone or tablet market share. How about Google Now vs Siri? Which is better? Well Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster conducted a study that answers the question. He threw 800 questions at both apps, and half of them were asked indoors, while the other half was outdoors. The questions were about local information, commerce, navigation, general information, and OS command. Back in December 2012, Munster conducted a similar test and Siri came out on top answering 83 percent of the questions correctly, while Google Now answered 81 …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/0eb88bb4464800b3182c5618f3f2b899.jpg Everyone is waiting for Samsung to release a handset that is constructed of primarily metal. For years, consumers have been complaining about the company using plastic or even faux leather. With the rumored Galaxy Alpha, that is all seemingly going to change. It is apparently going to be Samsung’s very first handset with a premium design thanks to the metal construction. But a new report out of Korea claims that production may be limited to this brand new design choice. A worldwide launch, something Samsung is a very big fan of, would not be possible with the metal design. The report no…
