http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/90c99441a5232c61441c84cc1f9995f5.png Following the market in producing flagship devices followed by both “prime” versions and “mini” versions, LG has been working on a smaller variant of the LG G3 which has been identified as either the LG G3 Mini or the LG G3 Beat. Although there is some speculation that two distinct, smaller versions of the G3 exist with either a 4.5-inch or 5.0-inch screen, what is clear is the LG will be producing a version of their flagship that they hope appeals to buyers who don’t want a large 5.5-inch screen. A new variant surfaced recently in a filing with the FCC with compatibility with AT&T’s …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/2f24798f8cb609a3a34c46aede8d0a70.jpg If there is a better way to celebrate our nation's independence than by downloading a few awesome paid iPhone and iPad apps for free, we don't know what it is. Tons of developers have made their paid apps free to celebrate July 4th, and we've sifted through them all to pick out three gems. We even have a game in today's batch, which is rare for this series. It's a great one that harkens back to the days of NES though, and there is no better day to get nostalgic than Independence Day. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6407c3691dc11340be8a52c2c123113d.jpg If the existence of smartwatches is predicated on convenience — they need to be significantly more accessible than our phones. That's why Android Wear's out-of-the-box compatibility with AutoApps is a great sign for the future of wearable tech. Spending some time with Android Wear before it launched, developer Doug Gregory managed to adapt his home automation system to work with his brand new Gear Live smartwatch. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/c1ad27f984aa7096fdc2492c7d3b58fd.jpg Michael Bay gets a lot of flak for his over-the-top, disturbingly violent take on the Transformers universe, but each subsequent release makes more money than the last. The latest film in the series, Transformers: Age of Extinction, is no exception, having already topped $400 million at the international box office. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/0b0c6e718bec03f33d6051ceb150a841.jpg There's something to be said for having obtainable goals. Kickstarter is infamous for its failed projects, instances where creators were too ambitious, too deceitful or too lazy to follow through, but if you'd like to help support a sure thing, Zack Danger Brown is currently trying to raise $10 to make a potato salad. He hasn't decided what kind yet, but the campaign has already crossed $300, prompting Brown to create a few stretch goals. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d356120c6977594b1bd5bc7600fcd7f2.jpg It looks as though Verizon Prepaid will finally be able take advantage of the carriers 4G LTE network, starting on July 17. This is good news for Verizon users, who may have been frustrated that the company has been lagging behind in prepaid data speeds. Verizon’s ALLSET plan, which includes 500MB of data, will get 4G LTE access and users can add what the company calls BRIDGE DATA to the plan, at 500MB for $5, or 3GB for $20. We are not sure yet whether or not the 4G LTE access will be full or throttled, or if BRIDGE data pricing will change. Source: Droid-Life Come comment on t…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/364d88784c0e1e79326c5e46079e566c.jpg Look at that! HTC delivered a phone worthy of high praises in the HTC One M8, and the hard work paid off. The OEM looked like it was spiraling downwards just a few months ago, as CEOs said they were looking ahead to a June rebound. And they were right. HTC’s June numbers arrived today to close out Q2, and things are looking up. Revenue is up over May (but down from April), and the company even turned a profit of $75.5 million (post-tax) this quarter. The quarterly projections were also hit. While this is good news, the company is going to have many more months like this in…

Not only that, but he’s done it using apps that are already available on the Google Play Store. A video of the demo shows Doug Gregory, who seems to be associated with DKC Automation, using “OK Google” hotwords along with phrases like “turn off the lamp.” The video also shows a card on the Samsung Gear Live displaying information about the current status of the home. That's the impression we get from a GamesIndustry interview with EA COO Peter Moore, who dismissed concerns about the gaming industry's move toward a new "freemium" model where games are free to download but can be miserable to play unless you pony up for in-game purchases. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/18fdee1869d25797f0e90aeae7d11dbb.jpg Samsung is perhaps best known for its market-leading smartphone business but more so than any other technology giant, Samsung operates across a wide range of businesses. It makes televisions, appliances, computers and even the components that power them all. As a result, Samsung is perhaps better equipped than most to take stabs at shaping futuristic environments, because it can develop and build almost all of the relevant tech in-house. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/32f2bce021cfe5cde8c05ff7f1ccfc75.jpg Samsung is a company that has a long history of both leading and following, though it is difficult to argue that the success the company is currently enjoying with its smartphone business can be attributed in part to its uncanny ability to do the latter. In fact, the company's handset sales didn't really start to take off until executives created a confidential 132-page internal document detailing exactly how engineers should copy the iPhone pixel by pixel. Samsung's Galaxy smartphones improved by leaps and bounds after their software was reworked in the iPhone's image, and since then, the c…

While these new renders adhered to the basic contours of the iPhone 6 mockups we're all familiar with, they also added some finishing touches that made us really see how great the device will look when it's finally released. And now TheTechBlock has posted some new renders created by designers Tomas Moyano and Nicolàs Aichino that show us how terrific the iPhone 6 will look in both gold and space gray. T-Mobile to “double down” to refund customers charged for premium SMS
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/ab0a4e7d54323db6cc1ac585dd45db59.jpg T-Mobile has been the center of attention all week after the company was accused of “cramming,” or charging customers for premium content, hiding the charges, and making a profit. Back in November, T-Mobile actually committed to never charging customers for premium SMS features again, and in June, launched a program for customers to get their money back. Despite this, in a blog post, John Legere has accused the FTC of “sensationalizing their story and their news at the expense of T-Mobile’s reputation.” Not only that, but the blog post shows that the company will be making an extra effo…

To do this, Google has enlisted many different sunglasses manufacturers to design lenses, frames and more for Google Glass. The newest designer is Rochester Optical (although not partnered with Google), which just announced new fashion sunglasses for the platform, which will be available internationally. Patrick Ho, CEO of Rochester Optical, said his company wanted to bring something fun and stylish to smart glasses with its …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/bd6f0a395d8d80547900072ff560bc2a.png Android L is now available to Nexus owners to download in beta, however, because of the fact that it’s still in beta, it is a little buggy. There are a number of issues with the software in its current form. Luckily Koush has developed a solution to one of those problems. The new notification system in Android L is nice, but it lacks a way to clear all notifications, and instead users have to clear them one by one. That solution has now been fixed. But not by Google. Developer Koush has created the fix, an app that adds a Clear Notification button. It looks great, is simple, and work…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/be8e2d0f4079c7c2a42a8670b7fd650e.png Android updates. We all love them, but hate waiting for them. Android Wear users didn’t have to wait long for their first update though, as Google is pushing it out now. Version KMV78V of Android Wear (4.4W) is currently coming to the Gear Live and the G Watch. Naturally, it’s nothing big — pretty much all bug fixes. If you have a watch already (Google I/O attendees, we’re looking at you), let us know if you’re getting the update and if you’re seeing anything new on your watch. If you haven’t gotten it yet, just check for the update manually by tapping the screen, scrolling d…

When asked about her current mobile device, danah admitted that her "primary phone is an iPhone, but I despise the device."
