http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/cc6536035f7936e90005319183ae6f23.jpg The Internet is truly a wondrous creation because it gives every one of us the power to show off our talents to the world that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. The People's Daily's Twitter account — yes, that's the same People's Daily that's the official state-run newspaper of China — directs our attention to an unidentified YouTube user from Taiwan who has the amazing ability to put on a pair of pants without even once using his hands. LG G3 Beat announced in China, most likely the G3 Mini
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6da044ccc011af7df92ccf9904aaa1d4.jpg You know things are getting serious when “mini” versions of phones sport a 5-inch display. The LG G3 Beat (D728) was just introduced in China (to the left in the above picture), and the speculation is that it will end up being marketed globally as the G3 Mini. The “regular” G3 sports a 5.5-inch display, but the G3 Beat comes in at 5-inches. Yes, it is smaller, but I never thought I would see the day that a 5-inch device could be referred to as a “mini.” The rest of the specs definitely fall into the mini category as in mid-level. The display itself is IPS LCD and has a resolution …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/4243a4de0df83b6f71af349782e5b586.jpg A few years ago, Apple and its iPhone were the undisputed mobile champions. The company revolutionized an entire industry and was selling units at a record pace. Then came along Samsung. After experiencing a decent launch with the Galaxy S II, the company’s Galaxy S III success really took the world by storm. Samsung poured a ton of money into marketing that consumers had become so entranced by what Apple would project, they forget what else was in front of them. Samsung’s Vice President of Knox, Jae Shin, says that “in the beginning maybe it was just about branding, but I think now consum…

While the handset has been put on sale in some places outside of the United States, LG has remained quiet on anything further. But T-Mobile has decided to come forward and put the G3 up for pre-order starting today. Customers can then pick up the handset on July 16 on T-Mobile stores (or presumably shipped to their homes). For other carriers, the rumored release dates are July 16 and 17. Source: T-Mobile Come comment on this article: LG G3 available for pre-order at T-Mobile, ar…

Today, we’re getting a great look at the device, as well as specs and a release date for the mini phone. The S5 Mini will sport a 720p 4.5-inch screen, a quad-core Exynos processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera. LG G Watch headed to Verizon and AT&T in U.S.

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/92e373016eaeec13f892c0e4da9af1e1.png A new leak indicates the LG G Watch will be landing on both Verizon and AT&T. Currently the LG G Watch is like most other smartwatches in that it is paired with another device, like a smartphone, instead of having its own wireless carrier chip on board. This means companies like Verizon and AT&T will be selling the current version of the LG G Watch as an accessory to be used with other devices. It is expected the G Watch will come without bloatware from the wireless companies retaining a stock Android Wear experience. source: @evleaks (official site) Come comment on this a…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/1e7cc629a2e8a96acdef03692cd3d67a.jpg Apple's advertising agencies have always been great at finding ways to show off a device's key features while still managing to tell an important and entertaining story. This two-punch combo is one that rivals haven't quite yet mastered, and Apple again showed us how good it is in its latest TV ad for the iPhone 5s. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/3a73538327667bdddfe3664dd1e54494.jpg Great news for people who love the "stock Android" experience: Google isn't letting Samsung or any other third-party OEMs muss it up on Android Wear, Android Auto or Android TV. In an interview with Ars Technica, Google engineering director David Burke said that OEMs won't be able to alter these new Android platforms in the same way that they can alter Android on smartphones and tablets with overlays such as Samsung's TouchWiz or HTC's Sense. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/f65c30805d4b0c2b29c48c2ea9d168c1.jpg Without question, Apple's upcoming iPhone 6 launches are the most hotly anticipated smartphone launches of the year. According to reports from numerous solid sources, Apple plans to launch not one but two completely redesigned iPhone models in 2014. One new iPhone 6 is said to feature a 4.7-inch display alongside a new design and upgraded internals, and the second new iPhone model is said to be a phablet with a 5.5-inch screen. The look and feel of these two new phones will seemingly be quite similar despite the size difference, according to various leaks. Unfortunately, we have also seen…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/1669d24de43caafce44765021b8ad026.jpg The new XLTE network over at Big Red is growing impressively. Verizon announced that the speedy network reaches more than 300 markets, just 200 shy of its 500 total for 4G LTE markets. While XLTE is not LTE-Advanced, it does bring increasing network speeds in those particular markets. Other networks have similar approaches to this sort of network speed. Sprint calls it Spark and T-Mobile does not bother renaming it at all. AT&T, though, has not announced any sort of network. Hit the break for the full press release. http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/79b793055b17dda93fa30fb1d7818b80.jpg Until now, there has been no way to own a desktop running Chrome OS. The only similar option would be to purchase a Chromebox and hook it up to a sizable monitor. With the new Chromebase, there is an affordable Chrome OS desktop. On Amazon, LG’s Chromebase costs $329, down from $349. It ships with the all-in-one monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Specifications for the LG Chromebase are pretty good considering the price. The 22-inch display has 1080p resolution and inside is an Intel Celeron processor (2955U) with 2GB of RAM. The RAM is a little iffy, but we’re sure not everyone is throwing …

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/1c3bee0a39167a05c57ee7a67ece4e65.png One of the new features that Google showed off in Android L last week was a new way of displaying notifications in a floating window that will pop up over running apps. If you want to get an idea of how this may work without installing Android L and you have a device running Android 4.3 or 4.4, you may want to check out the new Heads Up! app fro XDA member Dr.Alexander_Breen. Heads Up! will let you whitelist apps that should display their notifications as “heads up” type floating windows. You can also toggle the options to ignore things like ongoing notification or silent notifications…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/59a5e2ef5f1819947ded84ae99dadb33.png Since the Android L developer preview was made available by Google, developers have been busy at working breaking it down and extracting code to be used on current Android platforms while we wait for the official release of the next version of Android based on L. One of the most noticeable changes in Android L is the keyboard which uses the new Material design framework. Developers had already pulled the apk for the keyboard out of Android L, but installation on other devices required root and some work with custom recoveries and flashing zip files. LG G Vista appears next to G3, could be Verizon’s G Pro Lite 2
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/6e5935c39a2360fd111ab712fda9aaf6.png Lately there has been some confusion as to what exactly Verizon has going on with the LG G Vista. It looks almost identical to the G3, but now there seems to be clarity in that it is another LG handset with different branding. The LG G3 is on the left in the image above and the G Vista is on the right. The G Vista looks a tad wider and taller, meaning that this is quite possibly the G Pro Lite 2. It is very common for non flagship devices to be renamed and that could be the case here. Look closely and we may have an August 7 release date on Verizon’s network for these two handsets. S…

Google I/O was only two days, but it was jam packed with a ton of stuff. Google introduced the Android L Preview, Android Wear, Android Auto, and Android TV, and that was only the tip of the iceberg. We even got to see Project Ara and Project Tango in public for the first time. Oh yea, let’s not forget what a cardboard box can do. There were of course a lot of other things happening, including Microsoft’s first Android phone, the Nokia X2. Android ‘L’ to add improved real-time audio processing
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
When Android ‘L’ was previewed at Google I/O, the main focus was on the user interface and changes that were coming to it. Despite this, Android ‘L’ will have a number of changes under the hood too. One thing that Android has had a lot of trouble with over the years is real-time audio processing. Companies have been able to make great audio devices for iOS devices, but this isn’t as true for Android ones. According to Glenn Kasten, a software engineer on Android’s media team, all the troubles with Android’s audio processing capabilities are about to change. Apparently, the team has completely rewritten the Android audio API’s, which now reduce input and output lat…

Moto 360 to be in Moto Maker and launched with Moto X+1
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies

It is expected that the Moto 360 will launch alongside the Moto X+1 later this summer, but more interestingly, according to recent rumors the Moto 360 will be included in Moto Maker. As of right now, it is a little unclear as to what options the Moto 360 will have in the Moto Maker, but it is likely that users will be able to change the wristband. Motorola has stated that they want to offer a leather wristband, a metal one, and a sporty rubber one. Despite this, production of the metal wristband may be delayed, as Motorola only had the leather one to show at Google I/O. Android L’s new camera API will come with several new features
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

Google is overhauling a ton of things in Android L, one of which will be the camera API. Fortunately, this means you can expect to see several new features and improvements to the standard Android camera application, which has honestly been lacking up to this point. The biggest thing to come from this new camera API will be pure performance. Thanks to better synchronization between the physical camera and the software, devices should be able to capture better images as well as 30 FPS videos at full resolution. The Nexus 5 on Android L, for instance, can capture a 30 FPS, 8 megapixel video, which is a big improvement over what it could do on previous versions of Andr…

Google Maps updated to include Android Wear support

If you were at Google I/O and got your hands on an Android Wear device already (Gear Live, G Watch, or perhaps even a Moto 360 if you’re lucky), you may have noticed that navigation commands to Android Wear devices didn’t work. Until now… Google was clearly aware of this, and just updated Google Maps to version 8.1.1, bringing support for Android Wear. If you don’t yet see the update on Google Play, just be patient as it may be rolling out to devices in waves. Once updated, you can search for a location, start navigating, view directions and more, all from your smart watch. Hit the break for the Play Store download link and QR code. Play Store Download …
