Meet the beastly Android phone with a 5,000 mAh battery
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
If there’s one reason to remember the Philips W6618 Android phone, it's the amazing 5,300 mAh battery it packs under the hood — although the handset itself isn’t the 2014 flagship smartphone you’d like to buy. Instead, it's an otherwise lackluster mid-range device. However, there’s now another Android beast that smartphone buyers should check out, and this one sports high-end specs on top of a positively gigantic battery. Continue reading... Now you have an easy way to make your Android phone’s email better than ever
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Do you wish you had an easy way to quickly access all of your email accounts on your Android phone in one place, whether they're Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo? Well you're in luck — Google has now made the stock Email application that you find on its own Nexus phones available to download for free. The app supports all IMAP, POP3 and Exchange accounts, so it's a great way for you to get all your emails on your phone without having to log into separate web portals or use separate apps. You can download the app from Google Play right now, although it won't work on the HTC One (M7) or the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

T-Mobile boasts wideband and VoLTE network presence, removes music streaming from data limits
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

John Legere and the folks at T-Mobile have done it again. Tonight in Seattle, Washington, Legere threw more punches (with some intense language) at the wireless industry. The carrier announced the entry of wideband LTE in sixteen markets across the country ranging from coast to coast. They also proudly proclaimed that their voice over LTE network (VoLTE) has a presence over 100 million people in the United States. Pretty impressive considering how far behind other carriers are in terms of getting VoLTE networks off the ground. Also, the carrier’s VoLTE support is being extending to the Samsung Galaxy S 5 tomorrow. In addition to this, its VoLTE network will go live in eve…

With the increasing number of mobile devices that can be wirelessly charged, it’s no surprise that more companies are thinking about how they can incorporate this technology in their products. Starbucks has recently announced that all its stores across the U.S. will offer customers wireless charging areas, but what if that’s not enough? One fashion designer, working together with Microsoft, has come up with a pair of pants for men that will wirelessly charge phones, Business Insider reports. Continue reading... Samsung has no plans to launch its best smartphone ever in the U.S.
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

Samsung finally took the wraps off of its hotly anticipated Galaxy S5 LTE-A — previously known as the Galaxy S5 Prime — earlier this week. Highlighted by a jaw-dropping a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with quad HD resolution, a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A represents a significant improvement over the somewhat lackluster Galaxy S5, but consumers outside South Korea may never get to enjoy the beastly handset. For the time being, Samsung has no plans to launch the Galaxy S5 LTE-A globally. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Can BBM revive BlackBerry?
by Guest Tero Kuittinen- 0 replies
BlackBerry shocked Wall Street on Thursday by delivering a much narrower loss than expected. The company is now growing its cash pile even though it is shipping fewer than 2 million phones per quarter. This stabilization is a feat in itself, but where is future sales growth going to come from? Messaging app system BBM is the best bet. It now has close to 100 million active users — but some decidedly worrisome trends have emerged in recent months. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

It’s taken just 4 years for QWERTY-equipped smartphones to go extinct
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

BlackBerry diehards may love smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, but their numbers are very few. A new chart posted by Alex Barredo of Post PC shows that the percentage of mobile phones with full QWERTY keyboards was still at above 25% as recently as 2010, even though today it stands at somewhere around 1%. In fact, QWERTY-equipped phones didn't really start to drop off the map until the period between 2011 and 2012, when their share of the market plunged from around 20% to well below 10%.
