This is the only way you can buy the world’s most exciting Android phone
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
For hardcore Android fans, no smartphone on the planet is more exciting and intriguing than the OnePlus One. Based on CyanogenMod software, the One is powerful, affordable and probably more tweakable than any other Android phone on the market. It's also practically impossible to buy. OnePlus is a small company and it's simply not equipped to handle the demand among Android enthusiasts for its new phone. In an effort to manage all of that demand, OnePlus is currently offering 2,500 invites to purchase a OnePlus One. If you thought getting one was going to be easy, however, think again. Mario Kart 8 is breathing life into the Wii U
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

Maybe the Wii U isn't doomed after all. Following the release of Mario Kart 8, the two most recent VGChartz weekly sales charts show that the Wii U sold more units than the Xbox One for the first time since Microsoft's next-gen console launched last November. The latest NPD report confirmed that Mario Kart 8 had been the second best-selling game of the month, even with just two days on the market after releasing on May 30th, but the ensuing resurgence of hardware sales is an even more exciting trend for Nintendo. Elon Musk: Yes, we should fear Terminator-style artificial intelligence
by Guest Ben Zigterman- 0 replies
Elon Musk doesn’t invest in many companies, but when he does, you should probably pay attention, especially when that company is an artificial intelligence company. In a wide-ranging interview with CNBC, Musk said that pretty much the only companies he invests in are SpaceX, Tesla, SolarCity, and an artificial intelligence company called Vicarious. Why invest in artificial intelligence? Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Oh, and it will also set you back $14,100. Yes, you read that correctly. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

An incredibly sneaky piece of malware has finally been pulled from Google Play
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Even various legit Android apps have been found to have additional hidden powers, which is why it shouldn't surprise us that one more piece of malware has apparently made it to the Google Play Store. FireEye, the security firm that discovered the malicious app, worked with Google to have the app removed from the store after finding that it was able to steal user data including SMS messages, certificates and even banking details. Oyster, the e-book subscription service, has launched an Android version of their app after several months of being an iOS only app. Oyster’s business model is patterned after services like Netflix in giving users access to their entire library for a flat monthly fee. Oyster currently charges $9.95 per month which gives users unlimited access to their library of over 500,000 titles. Titles includes New York Times bestsellers, Oprah picks and Pulitzer Prize winning titles among others. by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

Google may be working on an upgraded Google Fiber television box to launch in the near future. An FCC filing revealed a new set-top box with a model number GFHD200 that’s sporting 802.11 ac/n WiFi, 10/100 Ethernet, MoCA, Bluetooth and HDMI 1.4, all of which are pretty standard for a high-end cable box like this. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other details about the box in the filing, but with I/O just a few days away, maybe Google will shed a little more light on their Fiber plans with us. source: FCC via: 9 to 5 Google Come comment on this article: Google Fiber TV shows up in FCC filing Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more…

You may be able to read messages on your Gear 2, but you cannot type out a reply with it. That changes today with Fleksy releasing a new messaging app that allows the Samsung smartwatch to have a full, but small, keyboard to text with. All texting, receiving and replying, can be done from your wrist. The app will sync with a smartphone to better understand texting patterns and it is what allows texts to be sent over to the smartwatch. BREAKING: Amazon's smartphone is now official
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
We're not even going to suggest that you pretend to act surprised, but Amazon on Wednesday finally took the wraps off of one of the worst kept secrets in the industry: the Fire Phone. The phone has been in development for years and rumors have been bouncing around since 2012. Then, BGR blew the lid off the handset beginning in April, when we gave the world its first look at the device and reported several key specs. BGR then exclusively shared a number of key details surrounding the phone's custom software, shortly before reporting that "Prime Data" would be one of the smartphone's key selling points. Finally, we gave the world an unobstructed look at the handset for t…

Amazon just unveiled the most innovative smartphone of 2014 – here’s its biggest problem
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Last year was a disappointingly boring year for smartphone fans. The Galaxy S4 was nothing special, the iPhone 5s was probably Apple's least significant upgrade ever compared to the prior year's iPhone, and there was really no consumer-facing innovation to speak of. Components got more powerful and technology certainly progressed in other areas, but all in all it was a pretty weak year. Things seem to be moving in the right direction in 2015. Samsung's Galaxy S5 was a bit of a disappointment but the HTC One (M8) was a gorgeous update and we even got a nice surprise from Huawei in the P7 Ascend. But neither of those phones offered any new and truly exciting features. …

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime pops up in the Netherlands without QHD display
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
Samsung has apparently shown off the upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime in the Netherlands at an event by Dutch carrier KPN. While the device did appear at the event, Samsung did not confirm the name of the device. An interesting thing about the device that was presented is that it includes a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, despite previous rumors that the display would be 1440 x 2560. This is strange because of the fact that many were expecting the device to challenge the QHD display on the LG G3. The device also includes a Snapdragon 805 processor along with an Adreno 405 graphics processor. The model number of the device is SM-G901F, and it closely resembles the design of …

More of the same: LG exec denies Nexus 6 rumors, does not confirm Android Silver project
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
The Nexus 5 was based on LG’s G2, so it would only seem natural that the Nexus 6 would be based on the G3. But this is not so, according to LG exec Ken Hong, at least. In an interview, Hong said that the company “was not informed” about the Nexus 6, and joked that the company probably left him out of the loop when the device was passed around internally. There have been rumors that the Nexus 6 will never exist, due to the upcoming Android Silver product line said to replace the Nexus concept for Google — and Hong confirms these rumors. However, LG is rumored to be working closely with Google on the first Android Silver device, which will have a 64-bit proce…

Samsung one-ups itself with Galaxy S5 LTE-A, let the buyer’s remorse begin (in Korea)
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
Brace yourself — prepare to be annoyed. Or not. So, you bought the Galaxy S5 the day it came out. You couldn’t wait to get your hot little hands on the “next big thing.” Well, unfortunately for you, Samsung has a new “next big thing,” just two months after it released the last one. Disappointed? Confused? Furious? Don’t be, because fortunately for you, the device will be exclusive to South Korea. The Galaxy S5 LTE-A, (which some rumors have wrongly called the Galaxy S5 Prime), comes complete with a WQHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display. Because the screen is still 5.1-inches, the pixel density is a crazy 577ppi. The processor, a Snapdragon 805, will have four 2.…

Snapchat slingshots back at Facebook, launches “Our Story” social sharing feature
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
Yesterday, Facebook launched Slingshot, its own version of Snapchat, in an effort to try to steal back some of the market share it has lost to various social startups in the past few months. But Snapchat was prepared, and launched a new feature to its own app yesterday as well, to try to combat Facebook’s efforts. The feature is called “Our Story,” and does not require an update to the app. The feature lets users string together their own “My Story”(ies) together into one big “Our Story,” to create a more social sharing experience. Now, Snapchatters who are at the same event/location can create a Story, submit it to “Our Story,” and will find his/her Snapchat a…

by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies

If you were watching a live YouTube broadcast via your computer in the past, you’ve had the ability to push it straight to your Chromecast if you wanted to. But if you wanted to do the same from your mobile device, you were not able to. But today, Google has updated the feature, now letting you push live events on YouTube straight to the TV screen via Chromecast on your mobile device. While the feature apparently has been out “a little while ago,” Google hasn’t mentioned it until a post on Google+ today. The cheaper iMac you’ve been waiting for is finally here
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The cheaper iMac that was mentioned in various reports in preceding weeks is now listed on Apple’s online store, a 21.5-inch model priced at $1,099. The entry-level iMac joins the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions, being $200 cheaper than the 21.5-inch model that sells for $1,299. However, because it’s cheaper, the new iMac also has less impressive hardware, packing a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor – all other iMacs have quad-core CPUs – and an Intel HD Graphics 5000. Other specs include 8GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive. The new iMac can be purchased immediately and will ship in 24 hours. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

One major problem for BlackBerry over the past several years has been the huge app gap that its own BlackBerry World app store faces with Google Play and the iTunes App Store. Although some BlackBerry diehards have bravely insisted that BlackBerry World's app selection is just fine to fit their needs, in the real world people want to have a big range of quality applications to choose from. Kanye West has a stupid theory about why Apple bought Beats
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Kanye West is known for saying and doing some silly things so it shouldn't surprise us that his take on why Apple "really" decided to buy Beats for $3 billion is less than astute. Per AppleInsider, Yeezy thinks that Apple needed to buy Beats because it couldn't let Samsung hog all of the "cultural credibility" in the hip-hop world after Samsung got Jay-Z to promote its phones.
