Internet users can already choose from a variety of affordable cloud-based storage and backup solutions, but some people may be more interested in creating their own clouds in order to better manage costs, storage and data privacy. Unless they can actually build their own cloud networks, Sherlybox, a device currently seeking funding on Kickstarter project, could be a great option. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Pirating copyrighted content is legal in Europe, if done correctly
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The Internet provides access to many surprising things, including the means to enjoy copyrighted content without paying for it. Whether it’s movies or TV shows, music, books, games, software or other protected digital content, the Internet offers users ways to get their entertainment fix free of charge. Naturally, copyright holders are right to try to fight piracy, which they do on a regular basis, but a court in the European Union on Thursday ruled in favor of a certain type of copyright infringement. Moto E Review: A cheap smartphone worth buying
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
If I asked you which phone is Motorola’s best selling phone of all time, you would probably answer with the Moto X. You would be wrong as it is the Moto G, which is a budget phone. Budget phones are generally laughed at, but they happen to part of the fastest growing segment. With 70% of the worldwide population using a flip phone or feature phone, they are unlikely to upgrade to a flagship when they finally join the smartphone craze. They could opt for a Moto G, but Motorola is now offering something that is even more budget-friendly. The Moto E promises to be built to last and priced for all. You can’t argue that $129 isn’t an amazing price for a contract free and unloc…

New Motorola codenames surface along with the Moto X+1, Moto 360
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
We already know that the Moto X+1 and Moto 360 are Motorola’s flagship smartphone and smartwatch, respectively. A bit of information found by Hello Moto HK through Motorola’s Bug2Go software reveals that the Moto X+1 will indeed be available on all four of the United States’ biggest carriers. Aside from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile being mentioned, there are variants for Latin America and other unspecified locations. Also found was a listing for the Moto 360, but we are not quite sure what the different codenames are for. One goes by xWatch and the others go by xClock. Other than those two devices mentioned previously, we have not really heard all that much …

T-Mobile described Underground as a place for “exclusive and performance-centric devices reserved for the true enthusiast”. They also mentioned that the devices sold through the program will be limited stock. Currently the only device being sold is the gold Samsung Galaxy S5. While a number of carriers will have the gold Galaxy S5, the hope is that the program will evolve and go on to offer some truly limited-stock devices. by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
- 50 views
Just five days after the G3's May 28th release in South Korea, LG had already sold 100,000 units, the fastest opening week sales of any smartphone is LG's history. Korea IT Times reports that the daily sales volume has been estimated at 20,000 to 30,000 units. As a point of reference, the G2 was estimated to have sold less than 10,000 units per day when it launched last year. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Although we haven't yet used the LG G3 extensively enough to write a full review, the look of the phone alone is terrific and a huge improvement over the LG G2 in just about every way. Speaking with Trusted Reviews, LG design executive Chul Bae Lee revealed that he'd originally pushed to make the G3 even better looking by making its side bezels even slimmer than they are right now. Latest YouTube Android update finally adds a badly needed feature
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Want to check out the latest Jack White video on your Android phone but are annoyed that you have to watch it on a low resolution? Not to worry — per 9to5Google, the latest YouTube update for Android will let you choose your videos' resolution as long as it's 720p or lower. There's still no option to set your video resolution to 1080p or higher, likely due to concerns about mobile data use or battery consumption. Clicking on the "auto" resolution option will simply give you the best recommended resolution for your video based on your detected connection speed. The update is slowly rolling out to Android devices so hopefully you'll be able to get it within the next few day…

TIME names the 50 best iPhone apps in the world
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Where would we be without apps? Perhaps wandering around a desert aimlessly, swiping at a trackball or poking at a resistive touchscreen with a stylus. On-device app portals completely changed the way we use our smartphones, tablets and even computers. Limits are gone, and our smartphones constantly morph with each new piece of software we install. The challenge now, of course, is finding the right applications. And with 1.2 million apps in Apple's App Store alone, it certainly isn't easy. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

The affordable robot assistant of the future is already here
by Guest Ben Zigterman- 0 replies

SoftBank CEO and Sprint chairman Masayoshi Son has become something of a maverick. He said he bought Sprint because “I am a man, and every man wants to be number one, not number two or number three.” He also convinced Steve Jobs to give him exclusivity for the iPhone in Japan before Apple had even announced the device, and before Son had bought the mobile carrier SoftBank. Now, he wants to sell you a $2,000 robot. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

It also sports a 7-inch display, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, WiFi, BTLE, and 4G LTE. Just like the Tango phone, the tablet will consist of cameras and sensors that give it the ability to map its surroundings. What makes this devkit specia…

Samsung, Barnes & Noble announce Galaxy Tab 4 Nook
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
Just when you thought you’d heard of the Barnes and Noble Nook for the last time, here it is again, but in the form of a co-branded tablet with Samsung. The two companies announced the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook today, which will come with a customized Nook UI. The interface prioritizes reading as a top use for the device and emphasizes the availability of content. It obviously doesn’t offer any truly new content though, since any Android user can simply download the existing Nook app. We’re expecting to see an improved software package though, so it’s just a matter of time before we get our hands on it to truly check it out. The tablet will have a 7-inch display, but oth…

Look out for HTC “Eye” coming later this year
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
According to a new leak from @evleaks, HTC is working on a device for release later in 2014 that is codenamed “Eye” and will be designed for selfies. What exactly that would entail to make a smartphone more suited for selfies is unclear. Perhaps HTC is going to take a page from the LG playbook and look at moving buttons around. They could also look at incorporating their duo camera system onto the front of the device. No pricing information or specs are even hinted at in the leaked information, although @evleaks does suggest the device may only launch on AT&T in the U.S. We will keep an eye out for this one over the coming months and let you know if we spot an…
