Rick Bergman, CEO of Synaptics, the manufacturer that develops inbuilt fingerprint sensors to Samsung, has made some pretty interesting remarks as of late. Bergman forecasted that wearable devices with fingerprint sensors will be introduced to the market as early as next year — as the sole provider of this technology to Samsung, this means we’ll most likely see the technology on Sammy’s upcoming wearable devices. Bergman also said that the company is planning to announce a new fingerprint scanner after Q2 of this year. After confirming the Health app and announcing the corresponding HealthKit tool for developers at WWDC 2014, Apple has released a new iPhone 5s ad that’s all about exercise. Continue reading... In addition to new iPhones and iPads, Apple could also unveil new Macs, including the first ever Retina iMac all-in-one lineup. The company’s OS X Yosemite operating system, which is already available to developers, apparently includes support for Retina iMacs, a Macbidouille reader has discovered. Continue reading... by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

HTC's marketing for its phones has been... well, the less said about it the better. That said, a new report from Evleaks indicates that HTC may have finally found a clever hook to sell its new smartphones and it thankfully doesn't involve the Hipster Troll Carwash. According to Evleaks, HTC is working on a new phone called the HTC Eye that will release in the fourth quarter this year on AT&T and will be billed as a phone that's designed to take "the ultimate selfie." The new Xbox One SmartGlass app has been able to allow users to control their Xbox from their phone for a while now, but with a new update, users can control much more than just that. TV and App channels are now shown on a new OneGuide page. Users can also now browse TV channels if they have service. Not only that, but the update also includes a number of smaller tweaks, such as new notifications options, a redesigned Home screen, and so on. Sprint and T-Mobile merger finally a reality
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
The Wall Street Journal is reporting the often rumored Sprint and T-Mobile merger is finally moving forward. The two companies have agreed to “broad outlines” that put T-Mobile’s value at $32 billion, or about $40 per share. This deal isn’t official, but it’s expected to be during the early part of the summer. Of course, negotiations could fall through, but unlikely as it seems as though both companies really need this deal to happen. Sprint and T-Mobile are the 3rd and 4th largest wireless operators in the U.S., and it appears a deal between these two companies has the best chance of clearing the FCC. If you remember, AT&T’s bid for T-Mobile fell through so i…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/5fb827f7f5ec18f44c8344fc89580ba9.jpg Although Sprint and T-Mobile are facing some steep regulatory hurdles, the two companies are apparently going to try to go ahead with their merger anyway. The Wall Street Journal's sources say that Sprint parent company SoftBank and T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom have agreed to a deal that will see SoftBank acquire a majority stake in T-Mobile for $40 per share in a deal worth $50 billion. T-Mobile's shares closed trading Wednesday at $34.28 each while its market cap stood at $27.46 billion, so it looks like DT will be getting a nice premium from SoftBank in the deal, especially si…

This is an awesome Google Glass feature you’ll hopefully never have to use
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Google’s Google Glass smart eyewear has many fans but also many haters, and the device will be available to more and more users in the future, sporting all sorts of interesting, and possibly creepy features. Hopefully, though, most users won’t have the chance to actually try out a Glass-based augmented technology currently in testing . The solution lets users shoot a rifle at targets around the corner. While it's certainly interesting, it's also potentially dangerous for civilians. And for the military or law enforcement personnel, Glass doesn’t yet offer the kind of battery life that would make it a useful solution in many scenarios. Continue reading... Via BR…

One of everyone’s favorite Android launchers is receiving an update that puts it even closer to the stock launcher. Another addition is the fixes, tweaks, and changes made within the beta version of Nova Launcher. They have all been brought over to the stable release in the Play Store. HTC One Remix for Verizon press render shows the device’s front and back
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Here is a pretty clear look at the upcoming HTC One Remix. In case you were unaware, this is just the HTC One Mini 2 with a different name just for Verizon. Everything looks the same as the other device, save for branding. Verizon has stamped its front and back with some logos. The front has replaced HTC’s very own logo with Big Red’s. And the back has the usual Verizon logo and 4G LTE logo. Nothing too surprising here. by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Owners of a DROID Ultra, MAXX, and Mini on Verizon no longer have a reason to be discouraged about the software. The latest version of Android, 4.4.3, is coming! David Schuster, part of Motorola’s Software Product Management team, says that some issues with Android 4.4.2 rollout led to a delay and when it was resolved, the company opted to just wait for the next version (which they new was on its way). So now the company is focused on Android 4.4.3 and plans on pushing it out to the DROID line of 2013 as soon as possible. With how quick other Motorola devices are being updated to Android 4.4.3, do not expect to be waiting very long. Hit the break for Schuster’s full…

Ready or not, Amazon has something to announce on June 18 in Seattle. The company posted a video of some people getting hands on time with an unseen device. Simply put, all of the people are floored by whatever it is they are playing around with. One woman says “it moves with me” while some of the other participants move around watching the device. This is what basically makes it a lock that on June 18 (which is right on schedule), Amazon will unveil its first smartphone. The device will allegedly have 3D object recognition and it very much seems that the participants in the video were utilizing that. Hit the break to watch the video for yourself. Click here to view…

iOS 8 will bring one under-the-hood change that many app developers, but also iPhone and iPad users, will appreciate: consistent performance no matter what browser app is chosen. 9to5Mac reports that browser apps and apps that incorporate web browsing features will offer the same kind of speed that was previously available only to Safari, the built-in iOS browser, because Apple is ready to share its Nitro JavaScript engine with other apps.
