LG G3 for Sprint press render leaks in two colors
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Near the end of last week, we had a look at the Verizon version of the LG G3. With that version, the carrier added some heavy branding along with an alteration to the front panel. Today’s leak of the LG G3 for Sprint shows no changes whatsoever. As far as I can tell, the only thing indicating this is Sprint would be the LTE icon. That is nowhere near as intrusive as Verizon’s branding. Also, Sprint did not change the entire front panel to be black. Instead, the bottom of it will be identical to the back panel. So it seems that the carrier-manufacturer war is nonexistent here. Although, we are going to assume there will be bloatware. Hit the break to see the gold var…

Samsung S Health app gets Stress level monitoring feature
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
Samsung has released an update to their S Health app update that leverages the heart rate sensor in the Samsung Galaxy S 5 to measure a user’s stress level. The app appears to work by having the user touch their finger to the touchscreen to start the process. It is unclear what other inputs the app uses to determine stress level. In the past, companies have obtained stress level measurements by factoring in things like number of emails or text messages or employing sensors to measure changes in the skin. Stress level can be checked on a regular basis and the app can create charts showing stress levels on an hourly, daily or monthly basis. source: Sammy Hub Come…

Apple chases more money from Samsung and sales ban in patent suit retrial
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The second victory it scored against Samsung in their second U.S. patent-based lawsuit isn’t enough for Apple, as the jury only awarded the iPhone maker almost $120 million in damages, which seems like petty cash compared to the $2.2 billion it wanted for alleged infringement. Therefore, Apple on Friday filed a document with the court asking it to ban sales of certain Galaxy devices, Re/code reports. The company also asked judge Judy Koh to grant it a partial retrial on the amount of damages Samsung should pay. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Image of ASUS Padfone X for AT&T leaked
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies

An up-close image of the upcoming ASUS Padfone X on AT&T was leaked recently. AT&T announced the fact that the device would be released on their network back in January, but since then there’s been no word on an official release date. Specs for the device were confirmed in March, showing quite a powerful device. The main selling point, however, will be the fact that the Padfone X is a phone that can transform into a tablet. Samsung patents leaked showing what could be their next wearable device
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
There have been a number of rumors about Samsung‘s upcoming wearable device which is supposed to be able to take and make calls, and include a heart rate monitor and GPS. Recently a few of Samsung’s patent applications were released, showing what could be that device. The device looks quite similar to the Motorola Moto 360, and a number of the patents are related to the gestures that are used to control the device. While it is strange that the patents are leaked around the same time as rumors of a new Samsung wearable, the patents do describe a device that get connectivity through being paired with a smartphone or tablet. Because of this, either the recent rumors are w…

Apple seeks injunction against Samsung despite weak win in court
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
Earlier this month Apple managed to prevail in a case against Samsung over some patent violations in smartphones. However, the jury took much of the wind out of Apple’s sails when it awarded the company only $119 million in damages, much less than the more than $2 billion Apple was seeking. Apple seems to think the relatively insignificant amount of damages awarded in court is sufficient to justify a sales ban on Samsung products based on a recent court filing. Apple’s latest request in Judge Lucy Koh’s courtroom come based on a study performed by one of their expert witnesses, Dr. Hauser, that supposedly measures the value of the features covered by the patents at iss…

LG G3 for Verizon sign up page appears unofficially, ready to go for Tuesday

We know that HTC was one of the few to master a same-day announcement/release. For the people hoping that LG would somehow do the same, it does not seem so. A sign up page for the LG G3 for Verizon appeared on the carrier’s testman site. This page is reserved for devices that will soon make their way to the official site. The only thing we see here is that the handset is “Coming soon.” What we do know about Verizon’s G3 variant is that it will be stamped with a decent amount of carrier branding. When a carrier like Verizon decides to expand its device selection, everyone wins. Today, we hear that Big Red will be adding the new Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. When? We do not know. There is a very good chance, though, that it arrives alongside the Xperia Z2. Both Sony devices have been said to be heading that way for quite a few months. It took entirely too long, but Google’s Play Store finally has a mobile web version. Going to play.google.com/store on any mobile device allows you to see a version of the site optimized for smaller touchscreen devices. Obviously this doesn’t matter if you’re on Android and have the Play Store as an app on your device, but for iOS, Windows, and other platforms, it makes it easier to browse the store. Also, there’s a section on the mobile site called “Device,” that allows you to quickly purchase Google-endorsed hardware and accessories. Has Dr. Dre’s drunken boast cost his company $3.2 billion?
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

We haven't heard anything official about its supposed $3.2 billion purchase of Beats from Apple yet and now Billboard reports there's a good reason for that. According to Billboard's sources, Apple was not at all happy about a video posted by actor Tyrese Gibson where a couple of weeks ago in which Beats founder and hip-hop legend Dr. Dre boasts about becoming “the first billionaire in hip-hop.” Apple was also probably not happy to hear that Gibson said that Dre was "drunk off of Heinekens" in the video, which was posted on Gibson's Facebook page right after news broke that Apple would be buying Beats for $3.2 billion. Thanks to the latest update from Google, you’ll now be able to use Google voice search about any car reservations you have, and it’ll pull information directly from your Gmail account and display it for you. by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
- 66 views
Huawei has updated their Honor lineup of aggressively priced, high spec devices with two new handsets, including the Honor 3X Pro and the Honor 3C 4G. The Honor 3X Pro is pretty similar to the existing Honor 3X, but it has a 1080p screen instead of a 720p screen, twice as much internal storage space, and a new texture for the back of the device. Otherwise, it’s the same as the older model with a 5.5-inch display, 13 megapixel camera, 2 GB of RAM, and an octa-core MediaTek processor. The 3X Pro is priced at 1,698 yuan, 272 US dollars. Not a bad deal. The Honor 3C 4G is getting some spec bumps, mainly in the connectivity department. The model slated for China Mo…

A GFX benchmark for a new Sony device has shown up in the wild. The device has a model number of D2403 and looks like it’ll be a pretty solid mid-range offering in Sony’s Xperia lineup. We’re seeing a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 4.4 inch qHD screen. Best of all, it looks like the phone will have 16 GB of internal storage, which is a rarity for budget devices. Comcast may be another company eyeing a bid for T-Mobile
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
We’re still dealing with Comcast’s proposed merger with Time Warner, and it looks like the cable giant is considering making a bid for T-Mobile, too. Analysts seem to believe that with AT&T buying DirecTV, the pressure that will be put on Comcast to match video delivery will finally tip them into jumping into the wireless industry. In the short term, Comcast may pursue WiFi-MNVO deals, such as reselling Verizon airspace. Long-term, though, that’s not going to be very profitable for a company as large as Comcast, which is where purchasing T-Mobile comes in. Of course, if Comcast does want to try to buy T-Mobile, they’re going to have to wait in line behind Sprin…

Samsung ads don't just tickle your funny bone — they can tug at your heartstrings a bit as well. Samsung has released a terrific new Galaxy S5 ad called "The Big Day" that shows a brother and sister preparing a surprise party for their parents' 40th wedding anniversary and taking pictures of it along the way with their Galaxy S5 phones. The ad highlights the Galaxy S5 camera's selective focus feature that lets you choose where your picture's primary focus will be, as well as the camera's ability to eliminate unwanted shadows in your pictures. Most importantly, though, is that the ad manages to show off the Galaxy S5's features without once mentioning Apple or any other co…
