Here’s another reason to get all your iPhone and Mac accessories from Apple.com
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Apple is offering online buyers free shipping on all the items available in its online stores through May 29, which is a nice change of pace from the company’s typical free shipping policy that only covers orders of $50 or more, 9to5Mac reports. This will allow buyers to purchase many accessories for iPhone and Mac that are priced under $50, and that wouldn’t otherwise qualify for the free shipping offer. Continue reading... Comcast to blitz DC with ‘one of the biggest lobbying teams ever’ to push TWC merger
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
The proposed Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger seems to be about as popular as a Godzilla-Mothra merger among consumers, especially since we learned earlier this week from the American Customer Satisfaction Index that Comcast and TWC are now the two most hated companies in the United States. Comcast seems to know that it can't convince consumers that the merger is a good idea, which is why it's instead conducting an all-out blitz to convince America's lawmakers and regulators to jam through the merger with as little resistance as possible. LG G3 for Verizon press render leaks, Big Red’s stamp is on the front once again
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
With just four days left until its May 27 announcement, there are bound to be some last-minute LG G3 leaks. Here, courtesy of @evleaks, we have a look at the first carrier-branded press render of the handset. As you can tell by the rather blatant branding, this is the Verizon version. Like with the LG G2, Big Red has literally put its mark all over. On the back is the Verizon name with their 4G LTE logo. On the front is, again, the Verizon logo crammed in the top right corner. The carrier’s 4G LTE icon is present, but that is not a big deal whatsoever. And it looks like we will have some bloatware as the display is showing Verizon’s official messaging application. It i…

This image confirms that it will be launching on AT&T and now we await any indication that Sprint will be carrying this handset. Samsung and LG to use sapphire-covered screens
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
Rumors about Apple using sapphire glass have been floating around, and suggest that Apple will be using it as a replacement for their Gorilla Glass coatings on the iPhone 6. Now there are new rumors suggesting that Samsung and LG plan to do the same thing. The news comes from Korean news site ET News, with unspecified industry sources saying that both companies have asked for samples from suppliers. The rumor still doesn’t have a lot of weight behind it. Samsung has explored the use of sapphire glass in the past, and ended up dismissing it as too expensive. Gmail interface redesign hinted at in leaked images
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Not too long before Google pushed out an update revamping the Google+ interface, Yoel Kaseb was responsible for leaking some images of what the interface update would look like. While there were some tiny details that weren’t correct, his images were pretty accurate for the most part. Today, Kaseb is teasing a few more images showing a new interface for another one of Google’s big products: Gmail. These four images show Gmail taking some design cues from the Google+ update, including a rounded compose button, and it looks as if the side bar has disappeared from the interface in favor of the dropdown menu. The last update in Google+ did away with the sidebar in favor…

Buy an HTC One (M8) through AT&T and get $50 off a Fitbit Flex or Fitbit One
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
If you’re thinking about picking up a new HTC One (M8), now’s a good time to do it. AT&T is offering $50 off either a Fitbit One or a Fitbit Flex when customers purchase a new HTC One, cutting half of the price off of both fitness trackers. As a side note, AT&T points out that their version of the HTC One (M8) is the only model in the US to come preloaded with the Fitbit application. If you remember from HTC’s M8 reveal, the Fitbit integrates very well with the HTC One, showing your progress and achievements in BlinkFeed, which is a nice touch. The One is obviously not the only device that works with Fitbit devices, but it’s definitely an attractive option, …

Guess who’s reportedly trying to follow Apple…again?
by Guest Ben Zigterman- 0 replies

Apple already uses sapphire to protect the iPhone 5s’s Touch ID sensor and camera lens, and all the latest rumors point to Apple introducing an iPhone 6 this fall with a sapphire display, likely manufactured at Apple’s sapphire plant in Arizona. So how do you think Samsung is going to respond? Do you even have to ask? Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Mid-range LG G Pro 2 Lite for Verizon spotted at FCC
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
If the forthcoming LG G3 is not quite large enough for you and LG’s super-sized LG G Pro 2 is more than you want to spend on a smartphone, then LG’s G Pro 2 Lite may be what you are looking for. The LG G Pro 2 Lite is a mid-range device that ratchets down virtually every spec compared to the top-tier device. The G Pro 2 Lite was recently spotted in the FCC database on its way to Verizon. Sprint and AT&T versions of the device are expected as well. According to the FCC filing, the G Pro 2 Lite will have a 5.7-inch display, slightly smaller than the G Pro 2′s 5.9-inch display. That display is expected to only run at 720p compared to the higher-end’s 1080p. The proc…

Hisense H6 Smart TV finally hits the market, available for less than $700
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Way back in December of last year, Hisense unveiled the H6 Smart TV that was powered by Android 4.2.2. Today, that very same television finally has been given a price tag and put out on the open market. In addition to this, Hisense is still packing Android 4.2.2 here. The display is 55 inches and the price tag is fairly decent at “under $700 at select Walmart stores nationwide.” After glancing over at Walmart’s website, the price tag is sitting around $650. Being that this is a smart TV, you can consume all of the media you would like. Or you can just pay $35 and pick up a Chromecast or even a $99 Amazon Fire TV. But if you are indeed in the market for a new television…

by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies

As we head into a long holiday weekend ahead of LG’s launch event for the LG G3, the company has released some videos on their Korean YouTube channel to tease the device. If all of the leaked images have left you wondering how accurate they may be, you may want to check out these official shots of the device. The most telling of the videos is the one highlighting the design of the LG G3 as it provides a nice shot of the device. The other two videos highlight the G3′s QHD display and the camera, although there is not much to tell from the videos. You can check out all three videos after the break. Several new features for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 currently being tested
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
According to sources, Samsung is testing a variety of new features for the forthcoming Galaxy Note 4 slated to be released later this year. The features include “Swipe to launch Motion Launcher”, “Aqua Capture”, “Multi Network for Booster”, and “Smart Fingerprint.” Apparently Samsung is already working on these different features using a Samsung Galaxy S 5 running Android 4.4.3 as the test unit. The “Aqua Capture” is thought to be a function that allows users to take photos underwater, similar to what the Galaxy S 4 Active is able to do. This seems to imply the Galaxy Note 4 may come with some decent water resistance qualities for the device, maybe even better than the…

Motorola has now opened up Motorola Modality Services to be updated through the Google Play Store, just like it did with Contextual Services. While this app sounds kind of dull, it could prove to be useful, helping your device respond in the right way to motion and position. This app essentially allows your phone to know when it’s coming out of your pocket, when it’s on a desk, and so on. Other processes rely on this service, so keeping it updated helps your phone operate at its peak level. Hit the break for the Play Store download link. One reason the Beats deal could be a huge mistake for Apple
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Apple's plan to buy up Beats has left many analysts scratching their heads and wondering why Tim Cook and the crew at Cupertino are spending $3.2 billion to acquire an audio hardware and software company. Writing over at Techpinions, Jackdaw analyst Jan Dawson explains that many people are worried that the Beats deal might be a sign that Apple has started to listen too much to the outside noise from Wall Street investors demanding that it make flashy, aggressive moves to reignite its growth. Where is the wireless charging revolution?
by Guest Darren Murph- 0 replies

January 8th, 2009. On this day, in the midst of the usual noise that surrounds the year’s most extravagant electronics show, Palm debuted the Pre. Outside of its radical software, the most notable hardware feature was one that truly was ahead of its time… years ahead, in fact. The phone supported wireless charging, with the Touchstone charger ushering in the idea well before most anyone else was even thinking about it. Half a decade has passed, and we’re still waiting for wireless charging to matter. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Don’t hurry off to buy stolen eBay customer data just yet
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

eBay on Thursday acknowledged that some of its customers’ personal information may have been compromised following a breach, advising users to immediately change their passwords. The announcement has apparently been enough for some creative individuals with malicious intentions to advertise online “full eBay database dumps,” masquerading as the hackers that conducted the cyberattack. However, TechCrunch reports that eBay says those databases are fake, and the for sale lists do not contain “authentic eBay accounts,” which is very good news for eBay consumers whose personal data may have been exposed.
