Insider claims to reveal launch date for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
In terms of shipment volume, Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 is likely the current king of the phablets. Unveiled last fall, the Note 3 was and still is our favorite Samsung handset to date. After spending some time with the Galaxy S5, it seems increasingly likely that the Note 3 will remain our favorite Samsung handset for some time to come — at least until the Galaxy Note 4 launches later this year. And according to one supposed insider, that launch will come on September 3rd. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Here’s another good look at the HTC One (M8) Ace
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
The Chinese equivalent of the FCC, TENAA, has a couple of images of the upcoming HTC One (M8) Ace. Unfortunately we don’t have much else to tell you other than it appears the device will have a 4.7-inch display. Earlier today, we reported that the phone could be announced in early June. It was believed The HTC One (M8) Ace would be a plastic version of the M8, but with a smaller screen and no Duo Camera, it almost appears to be something entirely different, although still very much plastic. source: @evleaks Come comment on this article: Here’s another good look at the HTC One (M8) Ace Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more! …

by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

The high-end tablet market is becoming increasingly crowded with each new release, but there's still plenty of room for more affordable devices. HP just recently launched the HP 7 Plus in the US for a paltry $99.99. HP is known for its almost secretive cheap tablet launches, such as the release of the HP 8 earlier in the year. This iWatch concept almost puts an iPhone on your wrist
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
A new iWatch concept video imagines Apple’s upcoming smartwatch as a slim wearable gadget that would feature a large, flexible, touchscreen display ready to offer users access to many default iOS features. In fact, considering the size of the device, such an iWatch could perform many iPhone functions, including texting, although there isn’t support for a Phone app. Continue reading... Former Apple designer debunks some of the most infamous Apple myths
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
Thanks to the endless praise and the legendary pedigree, many of us have forgotten that at the end of every work day, Apple is indeed just another technology company. An incredibly impressive one, yes, but one that is often put on a pedestal that exists outside of reality. Fast Company is helping ground our expectations by putting four of the most common myths to bed in an interview with Mark Kawano, an ex-Apple designer who spent seven years in Apple's design studios. Samsung plays nice with Google by shutting down its own music service
by Guest Ben Zigterman- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/d1b2dfed515908ccfe26433a7e33a401.jpeg In 2012, Samsung launched the Music Hub, which combined features from iTunes, Spotify and Pandora. The Hub has since expanded to include videos, eBooks and apps, and it comes preinstalled on Samsung phones. In other words, it was pretty clearly a Google Play competitor. Google has recently been pressuring Samsung to tone down its Android customizations and to cut back on its bloatware, and last week, Samsung’s Marketing Manager for Technical Media Philip Berne tweeted that “Samsung Hub is going away,” a tweet which has since been deleted. Now every smartphone and tablet maker includes voice controls in devices, and consumers are growing accustomed to having voice controls as an option. Of course, voice controls aren't only useful on smartphones and tablets. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Amazon invites customers to free 30 day trial of Fire TV
by Guest Aditya Thawardas- 0 replies

Amazon initially sold out of their Fire TV boxes within hours of having them available, and now that they have more in stock. They want people to buy them so much that they are actually allowing customers to try their $99 set-top box for 30 days for free of charge. According to emails being sent to some customers, once shipped, you can return the box without obligation and without being left out of pocket as long as you follow the conditions of Amazon’s returns policy. Of course, customers without an invite can essentially do the same thing by returning the device via Amazon’s regular returns policy, but return shipping costs might be incurred. Source: Recode …

Samsung preparing a VR gaming headset to be announced later this year
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Here’s your crazy rumor for the week: Samsung is preparing a virtual reality headset, and they’re planning on launching it later this year to try and beat the Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus to market. Apparently, the prototype devices are far enough along in development that Samsung has already sent out some headsets to developers to use with their current flagship Samsung devices. Whether or not you think Samsung getting into the VR space is good, bad, or just plain crazy, there’s some pretty substantial evidence that it’s going to happen. It’s also a completely separate project from Samsung’s rumored Gear Blink device, at least at this point. The headset …

The purpose is, of course, to connect the application to a web experience on a computer. Being able to sync between devices provides a seamless experience to make sure tasks are completed. Two modes make up the web experience. Focus Mode puts everything into one folder so users have a single location for all tasks. Nest’s Tony Fadell says there will be no ads on their thermostats
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
CEO and founder of Nest, Tony Fadell, says that Nest will not be running ads on its thermostats. The news comes after the Nest Protect smoke detectors were formally recalled due to a possible flaw as well as an SEC filing that implied that Google planned to put ads on their thermostats. Nest previously stated that they wanted to separate their future plans from those of Google, saying that they had no intention of sharing their user data with Google. Fadell tried to clarify by saying that Nest was being independently run from the rest of Google, and that ads were not the right thing for the Nest user experience. This comes after a statement from Google saying that “a f…

Comparing Watch Dogs’ graphics on the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
The excitement surrounding the impending release of Watch Dogs was slightly tempered earlier in the week when Ubisoft announced that the PS4 version of the game would run at 900p and the Xbox One version would run at 792p. Early adopters have felt slighted as many new generation releases have failed to reach the pinnacle of 1080p resolution and 60fps, but the disparity between the consoles has been an even larger point of contention. Thankfully, CinemaBlend has cobbled together a few screenshots to compare the game's visuals on the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One so we can begin to put the argument to rest once and for all. In 2012, Oculus VR breathed new life in the virtual reality scene with the Oculus Rift, a far cry from the gimmicky technology of the past few decades. After flooring audiences at trade shows, the Oculus team launched one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time. Scrambling to catch up, several other tech companies announced their intention to enter the market as well, and now Samsung is adding its name to that list. Engadget reports that Samsung is developing its own VR headset which it will reveal later this year. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/0f6aa46f17d23fb86ad42209839758ad.jpg Earlier this year, BlackBerry announced plans to release a new messaging service called BBM Protected that the company billed as an even more secure version of its popular messaging app. CrackBerry draws our attention to a new set of videos that it's posted on YouTube showing a live demonstration of BBM Protected that gives us an idea of how it will deliver even better security than standard BBM. One of the ways that BBM Protected will keep your messages more secure is by encrypting every individual message you send and receive with a random key, which means that even if one of your messages…

Nokia X2 benchmarks appear, not a whole lot going on
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Today we have a look at the alleged specifications belonging to the Nokia X2, courtesy of an AnTuTu benchmark. The main purpose of a benchmark is to showcase the processor and here we have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 200 alongside an Adreno 305 GPU. Also, 1GB of RAM is included and 4GB of internal storage is likely to be joined by a microSD card slot. The display is still watered down with a 800×480 resolution in a 4.3-inch frame. Although Nokia uses its own user interface, Android 4.3 is at the core. On the back is a 5MP camera and the front’s is 0.3MP. These specifications are just as entry-level as the original Nokia X. Are these changes enough to gain some consideration?…

Apple plans on fixing iMessage issues to alleviate the horrors for those that switch to Android
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
iMessage is a lovely little app, as long as you are in the Apple ecosystem. Unfortunately that is how it works for all of Apple’s products. What happens when someone wants to get rid of their iPhone and buy something more useful like an Android phone? Anybody who has done that, and kept the same phone number, knows that all those messages that were sent through iMessage are stuck in Apple’s lovely cloud. Things have gotten so crazy that Apple is already being sued over this. One woman claims that Apple’s control of these text messages violate California’s unfair competition law. not to mention the fact that it interferes with the wireless carriers in that they cannot d…

It measures 146 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm and weighs only 146 grams. Pricing is only $200, which isn’t bad for a phone of this size, but there is some bad news. It will sport only Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. We d…
