LG really wants to redefine the smartwatch
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Even though LG has officially confirmed it’ll launch a G Watch smartwatch later this summer, the company never really revealed the device’s specs and features – aside from the fact it’s powered by Android Wear – and it’s yet to announce availability details for it. However, LG is building up anticipation for its first Android-based wearable with a new video that shows how the company is redefining the smartwatch category. The short one-minute video shows the G Watch from various angles, but doesn’t reveal too many details about it. LG does mention the G Watch will have a metal body “for a timeless look,” and that it’ll be “sleek and lightweight for all-day comfort.” LG…

Here’s how big the iPhone 6 is compared to HTC One (M8)

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/064c5062b5cb705e6c0e2bc29b25f743.jpg The iPhone 6 is far from being official, but more and more images from China keep showing 4.7-inch iPhone mockups in various scenarios, with all these units sharing the same design. According to them, the iPhone 6 will be bigger than the iPhone 5s but also much thinner. The device will seemingly resemble the iPod touch more than previous iPhones, especially when it comes to the rounded corners and volume rockers. The new iPhone mockups will be extensively compared to all flagship devices running Android, with a latest series of images already showing one such dummy unit next to the iPhone 5s…

Federal Communications Commission chairman Tom Wheeler’s plan to let ISPs charge content providers more money to make sure that their traffic gets delivered more quickly is probably not the most popular idea. In fact, it’s not only provoked an outcry from pro-net neutrality advocates but has also led to protests from congressmen, major tech firms and venture capitalists who do a lot of work with tech startups. Because of this backlash, it seems that Wheeler is signaling an intention to back down: The Wall Street Journal reports that the FCC is “revising proposed rules for regulating broadband Internet, including offering assurances that the agency won’t allow companies to…

iPHONE 6 LEAK -- iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 5s: New leak gives us a better look at HUGE redesign
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/f30df505d8cbb5c129151b58cbd7b8c2.jpg Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 is obviously one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of 2014. With that in mind, it’s pretty clear why the recent string of iPhone mockup leaks are causing such a stir on tech blogs. Rumor has it that actual iPhone 6 schematics were leaked from Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn recently, and those schematics have been used to create several mockups of the next-generation flagship iPhone that may very well show us almost exactly what the iPhone 6 will look like. The latest such leak shows what the new larger iPhone might look like next to the iPhone…

Samsung Super AMOLED tablets and a new 13.3-inch LCD tablet detailed
by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies
With Samsung working hard at having tablets with as many screen sizes as possible we’re bound to see some on the larger end of the spectrum. Today we’re seeing a leak that suggests that Samsung will be debuting a 13.3-inch tablet. The screen will be of a LCD type in nature sporting a WQXGA resolution of 2,560×1,600 resolution. From what it looks like that will put the tablet at around 227 ppi. The T911/910 mega-tablet — not to be confused with the Samsung Mega line — may be the new top of the line Galaxy TabPRO model, but little details are known at this time. This leaked information also sheds some light on the new Super AMOLED tablets that Samsung has been working on. …

Galaxy S 5 Active could be coming to Sprint while AT&T may receive another Galaxy Note model
by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies
According to a tweet from evleaks, the SM-G860 device will probably be a CDMA version of the SM-G870, or the GSM version of the Galaxy S 5 Active that’s heading to AT&T. Before you Verizon folks get excited about the device, chances are, the device will actually heading to Sprint, at least according to evleaks. Last year’s model, the first generation Active series device, the S 4 Active was an exclusive to AT&T. However, given that the S 5 already comes with IP67 certification, the Active series might not be as exciting as before. For those that don’t know, the IP67 certifcation allows the S 5 to be completely submerged in 3.2-feet of water for up to 30 min…

The Galaxy S 5 Prime shows up on Korean web site, disappears just as quickly
by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies

A QHD (2,560×1,1440) version of the Galaxy S 5, what may be called the Galaxy S 5 Prime, is inching closer to an official announcement. Spotted on the Olleh TV web site, the Korean variant, SM-G906K as since been removed from the web site, but it potentially could be nearing the final stages of development prior to a release. The image that accompanied the listing showed a Spigen cover on the device but doesn’t show off much of the phone. It’s rumored to be made out of premium materials, avoiding the plastic that the Galaxy series has been known for as of late, having a metallic construction and featuring a new design. Of course, that could all change between now and…

This is the Moto E
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Motorola’s most affordable smartphone yet is about to be unveiled, many reports suggest, with Brazilian retailer Fast Shop already listing the specs of the device – which were mentioned in previous reports – alongside images showing the device. Moreover, well-known leaker @evleaks has also posted press renders of the handset, revealing two color options of the Moto E, including lemon and turquoise, and Android Police found a Moto E vs Moto G picture on Motorola Mexico’s Facebook page. While Fast Shop has removed the contents of the Moto E page on its website, it hasn’t actually removed the page, which clearly lists the Moto E XT1025 handset version in the URL. Before d…

LG announces new 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch G Pad Series tablets
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
While we have to wait until May 27 to see their upcoming smartphone, LG decided to announce the newest tablets to join the G Pad line. For now, we just have a brief overview of the tablets and no specifications to work with. More details will be given at MedPi 2014 in Monaco later this week. Instead of limiting the line to just the G Pad 8.3, LG has welcomed new 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch tablets to create the G Pad Series. The company feels that one size does not fit all when it comes to tablets; therefore, this new trio serves just about everyone. The 7-inch is for portability and one-handed use. The 8-inch is optimal for multitasking and multimedia. And the big 10.1-inch…

LG G Watch promo video vaguely highlights features
by Guest Aditya Thawardas- 0 replies

The LG G Watch isn’t expected until later this month, leaving plenty of time for LG to hype the device. A new promo video attempts to create buzz about the device without giving too much away. Among the phrases mentioned: “LG defines the smartwatch” “Compatible with Android” “Sleek and lightweight for all-day comfort” “Metal body for a timeless look” “Ready for anything, anytime with a single charge” “Waterproof for your outdoor activities” There’s obviously a lot still to be learned about the G Watch, but this video keeps our interest. New LG G3 image reveals a bit more of that brushed metal look
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
We still have a while to go until LG’s May 27th event when the LG G3 is expected to be officially announced. There is no shortage of leaked images floating around though like the one this morning that shows the backs of the white and black versions. Similar to the gold version and some previous images, this new image gives us a little better look at the faux brushed metal effect LG has created for the back plate. The source for this latest image also indicated the back plates on the LG G3 will be removable. If true, besides swapping cases, this would give buyers the ability to swap on different colors to personalize their devices. Also of note in the image is a gold…

New press render of upcoming HP tablet leaked
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
A few days ago some images leaked, courtesy @evleaks, of a new tablet device that HP appears to be getting ready for market. Now a press render of the device in white has been discovered. The press render appears to confirm the device will come with both front and rear facing cameras and a lone speaker on the back of the device. HP marketing is also readily apparent. Power and volume buttons appear to be located on the back side of the device along the curved edge. Considering the orientation of the device in the press render is portrait, this suggests HP new tablet will be in the 7- to 9-inch range in size. If that ends up being the size of the screen, the device itse…

Verizon said to be getting the HTC Desire 610
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Life should not be all about flagship smartphones with cutting edge specifications. So it is always nice to see when a carrier opts to sell mid-range devices. They need some love too, after all. It looks like HTC and Verizon will be teaming up to bring the Desire 610 to Big Red customers. On Twitter, @evleaks said that the handset would be heading to Verizon. And back in March, we heard that it would also be available through AT&T as well. Perhaps this is a sign other carriers like Sprint or T-Mobile will carry the Desire 610. HTC A3QHD#CL will be the Desire 610 on Verizon. [comments: http://t.co/dMTT3g393q] — @evleaks (@evleaks) May 11, 2014 So…

Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 evidence appears again
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
The Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 has been pretty evasive since we first heard rumors of its existence back in March. Today however, some more evidence of the device was leaked. The leak shows an image of the device showing off its IP58 certification. We can just make out the Verizon logo on the back of the device, suggesting that it will in fact be released to Verizon. Despite this, officially the device will not be available to any of the big 4 major carriers, and will only be available unlocked via the Sony store, but that could change. Press render of the LG G3 in a case leaks once again
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Last weekend, the LG G3 was no stranger to the world. We saw the alleged beast in white, black with a case, and again in white with a case. Then we saw it with the display on. Now we have another look at the G3 covered by a case, but this time the image is of very good quality. On the front we are looking at an incredibly slim bezel, something LG is no stranger to. Again, there are no physical buttons on the front or sides. Everything is on the back. Below the camera is a refined volume key/power button setup. Could it support a fingerprint sensor? Maybe. To one side of the camera is the flash and the other side has an unknown component. Some say this is the IR blas…

If you activate Google Search right now and cue any NBA team actively in the playoffs, you are going to get a ton of information. The newest addition is a video recap that links directly to YouTube. If you are on a mobile device, the YouTube app will automatically open. Elsewhere, an embedded video will play rather than opening a new link or tab. Google is currently working on adding other professional sports leagues for future video recaps. Kyocera Hydro Icon headed to Sprint this year
by Guest Brendan Lynch- 0 replies
The latest Android-powered smartphone for Sprint’s network has just leaked in the form of the Kyocera Hydro Icon. While we don’t know much else about the device, we can expect it to be hitting the market in 2014. Earlier this week, the Kyocera Hydro Vibe was announced and later released for Sprint, with a Virgin Mobile variant hitting shelves on May 27. While the Hydro Vibe is a low-cost device device geared towards light users, the fact that the Hydro Icon is slated to launch on Sprint as well leads us to believe the device will be aimed for the higher-end market. We have seen other variants of Kyocera’s Hydro line of devices on other carriers in the past. Howeve…

The 5 Best Android launcher applications [May 2014]
by Guest Aditya Thawardas- 0 replies

Chances are, you look at the home screen of your phone more than almost any other screen on your device. It should look good, but still be functional. Sometimes, the default launcher just doesn’t cut it for what you want to accomplish. We did a guide of the best launchers back in September 2013, but we thought we would update things with some of the newer launchers. Without further adieu, here are a few different launchers that provide the best experience for everyday use, in our opinion. Google Now Launcher The Google Now Launcher comes standard with Google Experience KitKat devices, but recently Google made it available in the Play Store. The big draw with Googl…

Motorola Moto E specifications and images leak in Brazil
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
This basically gives away everything Motorola is going to say about the Moto E on May 13. Online Brazilian retailer Fast Shop accidentally uploaded just about everything regarding the handset. Images and specifications were freely exposed. The Moto E will have a 4.3-inch display that does not seem to be high definition. Under the hood is a dual-core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 1GB of RAM. While there is no front facing camera, a 5MP lens sits on the back panel. Speaking of the back panel, the Moto E will be available in black, white, or turquoise. And a 1980mAh battery keeps everything going throughout the day. A microSD card slo…

Online Indian retailer pegs release date for the Motorola Moto E
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Being that we know everything about the upcoming Moto E, we just need it to be put up for sale. And thanks to Flipkart, an online retailer in India, it looks like the little handset could put made available the same day it is announced. Flipkart has been posting teasers as we await the announcement. But they may have done something to give it all away. In addition to posting these teasers, Flipkart has generated a countdown. A few hours ago, the countdown for the Moto E was set for an ending on May 14. But after checking a few minutes ago, it is down to three days and that means the end will be on May 13. That date is when Motorola is hosting its event in London. So it…

10 million Samsung Galaxy S 5 units shipped in less than 30 days
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

We all know it doesn’t take long for Samsung to hit a milestone with a new device. The Galaxy S 5, which we just reviewed, has already had 10 million units shipped in 25 days. This is the quickest of all-time for Samsung. Each year, the company has been able to break its own record with a new flagship. The Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, and Galaxy S 4 took 7 months, 5 months, 50 days, and 27 days to hit this number, respectively. While shipping units does not mean they are sold, it is an impressive milestone regardless. The Galaxy S 5 did launch simultaneously in more than 125 countries across the globe. Samsung has nailed it on distribution. Source: Hankyung …

Swarm, Foursquare’s spinoff coming next week, is watering down the mayorship feature
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Mayorships, the feature that added some challenging fun to Foursquare, is leaving. Don’t worry, it’ll be heading to their new Swarm service! On Friday, Foursquare froze each and every current mayor in place for an unspecified amount of time. But when the feature does move over to Swarm, it will not be the same. The mayorship feature on Swarm will only be amongst friends. This means that if your group of friends frequently goes to the local bar, not everyone else there is jockeying to be mayor. Instead, only you and your friends are in competition with one another. The windows remains at 60 days, though. Swarm will be launching next week and Foursquare hints that the…
