http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/fe50c89da9f5e2e24314d451f84e8156.jpg Early approval ratings from Glassdoor.com show that new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is already much more popular than his predecessor Steve Ballmer and now Forbes is out with a new report explaining why: In terms of management style, Nadella has been the “anti-Ballmer” so far and it’s winning him fans. What does it mean to be “the anti-Ballmer?” Well, by Ballmer’s own admission he was “big, bald and loud” and often gave off the impression of being a bull in a $330 billion china shop. By contrast, Forbes says that Nadella is building a reputation as someone who is calm, quiet and deliberat…

An online dating site called AYI.com has released a survey that gives some insight into “which mobile brands singles are more desirable”. The website examined the profiles of 13,690 mobile users, comparing demographic characteristics. The survey ended up giving us some other interesting insights as well. According to the results, iPhone users are 17% more likely to be contacted first by other users, while Android users are 12% more likely to initiate contact with others. In AYI.com’s words, this makes Android users more promiscuous. The results also interestingly concluded that Android users are older, with 42% of them being between 45 and 60, compared to 67% of single…

Possible Nexus tablet from Google spotted online
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
Although it appears Google has shutdown access to a Chromium issue tracker report that should not have been publicly available, they did not get to it before a screen shot was grabbed. The information that was discovered seems to indicate Google is getting closer to releasing a new Nexus tablet and it may come with a new version of the Android operating system, possibly Android 4.5. The issue tracker entry shows a device codenamed “Flounder” which is consistent with previous Nexus family devices that were named after fish for internal purposes. Previous reports suggest Google may be working with HTC on an 8- or 9-inch tablet to succeed last year’s Nexus 7. The entry al…

Samsung attorney says Apple will get nothing in patent wars, sees end coming soon
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies

Samsung attorney John Quinn had some sharp words for Apple in a recent interview after the latest round in the Apple v Samsung patent wars ended in a California courtroom. Apple managed to prevail in the case, obtaining a ruling in their favor in the amount of $119.6 million after it was determined Samsung had infringed on three of five patents that were the focus of the case. However, that was a far cry from the $2.2 billion in damages Apple sought, prompting many to conclude Samsung had effectively won this round. Quinn went on to say that Apple will never receive any money from this latest litigation once appeals are exhausted. He also predicted the last case that yiel…

Do you require a smartphone that can take a beating and keep on taking Instagram pictures? If so then you might want to check out the new Cat B15 smartphone built by tractor manufacturer Caterpillar that’s been specifically designed to be “a tough, rugged phone that means business.” To show just how tough the B15 is, Catepillar has posted a video of the new device being dropped from 35 feet into the air into a pool of water and then being pulled out and run over by one of Caterpillar’s Cat 277D Multi Terrain Loaders. From an aesthetics perspecti…

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/e4ea78cfb1263fa0e9213f42a4b6c2ef.jpg A new study looking at iPhone and Android users reveals that iOS device owners are likely to have flown at least once in the past year, own stock and prefer wine to beer, Re/code reports. Meanwhile, Android users are more likely to take the bus, have eaten at McDonalds last month, and prefer tobacco and beer. Android users also describe themselves as religious, the study says. Interestingly, the Battery Ventures study reveals that no matter what mobile operating customers choose, they’re just as likely to own a gun. Also, iPhone and Android users are equally likely to own a home. Batte…

At the beginning of the year, we christened Sunset Overdrive one of our most anticipated games of the year, and one of the Xbox One exclusives that might sway some of the undecided gamers Microsoft’s way. Sunset Overdrive comes to us from Insomniac Games, a developer that has been a champion of Sony’s home consoles since Spyro the Dragon released on the original PlayStation in 1998. After a successful run on the PlayStation 3 with both the Ratchet and Clank series and the Resistance trilogy, Insomniac has jumped ship for Microsoft this generation, bringing its first new title exclusively to the Xbox One. Until now, the only footage we had seen of Sunset Overdrive came …

The news comes from The Financial Times, which reports that the deal could be Apple’s largest ever acquisition at $3.2 billion. Senior management at Beats will reportedly be retained and will report directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook. by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

One new flagship Android phone that’s been flying under the radar so far has been the LG G3, which isn’t too surprising since last year’s LG G2 was met with an underwhelming response. However, many of the leaks we’ve seen on the upcoming G3 have given us hope that LG is really going to step up its game for its new flagship phone by building a device that takes a lot of cues from its highly acclaimed Nexus 5. GSMArena has obtained some leaked photos of the G3 that show us a shiny gold version of the device that looks very enticing. LG has changed a couple of things from a design perspective that make the G3 look nicer than the G2 overall and the most notable one is the …

Apple knows how to make the iPhone’s camera better without adding a single megapixel
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Apple has not entered the megapixel camera war that other smartphone makers are engaged in and has instead preferred to improve picture quality in its iPhones without increasing the number of megapixels of the main camera. In the future, Apple may further ignore megapixels, a new patent application discovered by AppleInsider reveals, as the company has found a way to offer iPhone users a super-resolution camera mode without actually needing to increase megapixel count in future iPhone versions. The patent, titled “Super-resolution based on optical image stabilization,” reveals that with help of an optical image stabilization (OIS) camera and an image processing engine,…

Here’s a list of Samsung phones that will be updated to KitKat - did yours make the cut?
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Samsung has yet to release an Android 4.4 KitKat update for many of its devices that should be compatible with Google’s latest mobile operating system version, but SamMobile has obtained a leaked internal document that lists the KitKat rollout schedule for some Samsung smartphones. Interestingly, the document reveals that the international version of the Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300 model) will not get KitKat anytime soon, as Samsung is experiencing problems – the Sprint Galaxy S3 model has already been upgraded to KitKat though, with other LTE versions of the phone supposed to get it this month. The Galaxy Note 2 LTE model will also be updated to KitKat in May, followed by the…

Does the HTC One (M8) Harman Kardon edition really sound that much better than the original?
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
The HTC One (M8) is a great phone. In fact, we recently called it the best Android phone in the world. While the design is the most obvious plus for the M8, HTC’s new and improved front-facing BoomSound speakers mark another area where HTC’s flagship phone shames rival handsets. As good as BoomSound is on the M8, however, Sprint’s special Harman Kardon edition promises sound that is somehow even better. Does it deliver? Sprint sent us one a couple of weeks ago so we could find out for ourselves. Here’s the short answer: Yes, the sound on Sprint’s HTC One (M8) Harman Kardon edition is better than the sound on the standard version of the phone. Sprint’s tweaked M8…

New Nintendo consoles are coming, but you probably won’t be able to buy one
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

After another dismal year of console sales, Nintendo is finally looking to broach uncharted territory in order to give its floundering business a much needed boost. Bloomberg reports that Nintendo is preparing to launch new consoles in emerging markets as early as next year, potentially capitalizing on China’s recently lifted ban on game consoles. According to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, China’s game industry could generate $10 billion in sales in 2015. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said in an interview that the consoles released in emerging markets would be entirely new products, as opposed to budget rehashes of the Wii U and 3DS. “We want to make new things, with n…

LG releases its first QuadHD phone and no, it’s not the G3
by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies
While some thought that LG would be releasing the G3 as the first QuadHD (QHD) phone, they’ve gone in a different generation. First leaked by evleaks, the LG Isai FL was slated for Japan and KDDI and the company doesn’t disappoint as it has launched the LG Isai FL — the first QHD device solely for Japanese markets — and while it’s not the G3 it does shed some light on what to expect with LG’s 2014 flagship. LG announced that the QHD panel is certified and also reconfirmed that it will, indeed, be installed in the G3. KDDI’s device also sheds light on what we’ll see on the spec front for the G3. The phone sports narrow bezels, but not the same metal back that’s ru…

Moto X+1 for AT&T shows up on Motorola’s web site
by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies
While it may not be as leaked or as hyped as its predecessor, the Moto X+1 is getting leaked by none other than Motorola itself. For the second time the successor to Motorola’s 2013 break out flagship is showing up on the company’s US web site. As we can see from the header image above, AT&T is definitely getting the device. There are references to Verizon, and Sprint as well, but so far there is only an official place holder for the AT&T variant. The placeholder shows us that the device may cost $400.00 off contract. Of course, that’s speculation and we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to know for sure. However, given that Motorola’s game plan…

HTC J Butterfly sequel confirmed, specs still a mystery
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

Earlier today, the LG Isai was confirmed for KDDI in Japan, but the often rumored HTC J Butterfly sequel was also confirmed. Unfortunately, there was no official announcement of the device like the LG Isai, so we are left wondering what the specs will be. Based on an AnTuTu benchmark from last month, it’s more than likely going to sport a 1080p display (unknown size), a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, and Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, 13MP rear camera (no Ultra Pixel), 5MP front-facing camera, Android 4.4.2, and Sense 6. Just like past J Butterfly devices, don’t expect to see it outside of Asian markets. source: G4Games Come com…

by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

This can't be emphasized enough: You really shouldn't expect everything you send over Snapchat to remain private. The New York Times points out that Snapchat has added a new feature in its latest update that will let you easily save any text message that you receive over the service, which is something that you traditionally haven't been able to do for the pictures that are sent through the app. Continue reading... Samsung confirms it has a design problem, no matter what its marketing team says
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

In recent weeks, Samsung has defended the plastic design of the Galaxy S5 in interviews and in blog posts on its own site, explaining that the phone packs less bloatware than previous flagship devices, and releasing ads that send a “Galaxy S5 is cool” message. All this happened while Samsung also had to defend itself yet again against Apple’s copycat allegations in a second trial it eventually lost. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Criticizing products in Amazon reviews might get you sued
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Amazon shoppers who like to review the products they purchase from the giant retailer should know that the companies that sell those products can go as far as to threaten serious legal action against them for negative reviews. Redditor trevely that had criticized a router on Amazon received such a threat from Mediabridge Products lawyers, Ars Technica reports, with the company asking him to remove his negative review of one of the products. Apparently, that review quickly became the “most helpful” negative review on Amazon for the Medialink Wireless Router. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report
