by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

Samsung might be looking to have the same impact in the wearable market as it has with its multitude of smartphones over the past several years. Technology site MakTechBlog came across a listing on Indian import site Zauba for a "Gear 2 Solo" with the code name SM-R710. BGR sister site BGR India reported on a patent application for the Gear Solo early last month, signaling that Samsung might be working on a standalone smartwatch with a SIM card slot. Watch out for this scary Android malware that holds your phone hostage unless you pay
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

If your Android phone locks up and accuses you of watching child pornography, don't worry about the FBI barging down your doors anytime soon. That said, you should worry a bit because it means that your device has been infected with a new strain of ransomware that is trying to scare Android uses into forking over money to get access to their phones back. Good news for you if you’re on Verizon and have a Samsung Galaxy S 4. You’re getting KitKat. That’s right, Android 4.4.2 is being pushed out to devices as we post. The update also includes bug fixes, the addition of more apps to the Multi-Window tray, a whole updated set of Emoji icons to the Samsung QWERTY keyboard, and a number of new apps including Isis Wallet, VZ Protect (version 2.0.0), Verizon Cloud and Audible app. Verizon says it will take a total of 18 minutes to update the phone from start to finish, and that you should be connected to a Wi-Fi network at the time of the download, and make sure that your battery is at least 50% charged. New leak suggests the LG G3 will be a beast
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
Last week, the specs of the LG G3 were leaked, but the processor wasn’t mentioned. Today we get a new leak that confirms most of what we saw last week , but the processor is revealed. Let’s start with what specs were already leaked – a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 2GB (16GB model) or 3GB of RAM (32GB model), microSD for expanded storage, 13MP rear camera with OIS+, 3,000 mAh battery, and a rear speaker that delivers 1W of power. Today’s leak suggests that the G3 will sport the Snapdragon 805, which seems inline with Qualcomm’s target of May for the first devices. Now we did see a leak of a metal LG phone yesterday, but this leaker says the phone will be pol…

Galaxy S 5 Mini could be called Galaxy S 5 Dx
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
A Samsung UK listing is showing a phone called the Galaxy S 5 Dx, and it very well could be the mini version of the Galaxy S 5. If this is the case, this isn’t surprising since they went with a different naming convention for this year’s Zoom, calling it the Galaxy K Zoom. However, this phone still has the “Galaxy S 5″ as part of the name. Yup, this is Android folks, and the device names don’t always make sense. source: evleaks Come comment on this article: Galaxy S 5 Mini could be called Galaxy S 5 Dx Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more! HTC is teasing a new device that is fashionable, but not luxurious
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
We already know HTC has a couple of new phones in the pipeline, the One (M8) Ace and the One (M8) Prime. One of these devices is most likely being teased by HTC in these latest ads posted on Weibo. They are obviously centered around fashion, but one subtitle might give us a clue as to what phone. In one ad it says “Fashion does not mean luxury” which suggests something that looks good, but doesn’t cost a lot. That would seem to indicate the HTC One (M8) Ace since it’s expected to have high-end specs in a plastic body. Also since the fact that the One (M8) Prime isn’t expected to be available until September, means it’s more likely to be the Ace. HTC wouldn’t already h…

FEATURED: Here's what happens when a longtime iPhone users switches to Android
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
For Apple loyalists, the mere thought of dumping the iPhone and switching to Android is enough to send shivers down your spine. For Android fans, the idea of using an iPhone in the first place is an awful one. Enthusiasts on either side of the fence seem incapable of imagining life in the other group's shoes, and online battles between Apple users and Android users erupt constantly. But do things really have to be this intense? Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

A new report from Taiwan’s Industrial and Commercial Times reveals that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is on track for a September launch, with Apple supplier Pegatron having already received 15% of the orders for the model. The Taiwan-based company will apparently mass-produce some 50 million iPhone units this year – a mix of iPhone 4S, iPhone 5c and iPhone 6 units – which is reportedly 15 million more than last year’s iPhone orders. The FCC’s new net neutrality proposal is already ruining the Internet
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

iPhone 4′s new lease on life is apparently over after just three months
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Apple still hasn't launched any "new" mobile products yet in 2014, but it did relaunch a couple of old ones. Among them was the iPhone 4, which was re-released in India this past January with 8GB of storage in an effort to help Apple better compete with less expensive phones in the region. The new cheaper iPhone 4 was reportedly helping Apple, but apparently not enough to warrant its continued production. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Pandora for the Pebble Smartwatch now available for Android users
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
If you frequently listen to Pandora on your Android smartphone and also happen to own a Pebble smartwatch, you’re in luck. Pebble has made a new app for their smartwatch available that pairs with Pandora to enhance your listening experience. Unfortunately, you can’t listen to music through the smartwatch by itself, but the companion app will allow you to change stations, play, pause, and skip songs, and thumbs up or thumbs down whatever you’re listening to. Definitely handy to have to keep you from having to take your phone out of your pocket whenever you want to skip a song. The app is available to download now, and you can grab it from the Pebble’s settings page. …

Sony officially releases Instagram extension app for Smartwatch 2
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

Sony has released an Instagram extension app for the Smartwatch 2 that allows you to check Instagram notifications and comments without touching your phone. It isn’t a complete replacement for the app on your phone, but it’s a useful extension that will help you keep up on any notifications you’re getting. You can adjust how often the app syncs, and it alerts you with a soft vibration on your wrist. Pretty quiet and not intrusive. The app is freely available in the Play Store, if you happen to own a Smartwatch 2. source: Xperia Blog Come comment on this article: Sony officially releases Instagram extension app for Smartwatch 2 Visit TalkAndroid for …

Google pushes XE17 update to Google Glass to solve boot loop bug
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Google Glass updates are always welcome, but like any other electronic device, sometimes those updates bring problems in addition to features. The KitKat update for Glass, for example, brought along some great new features, but it also happened to create some nasty bugs that would cause Glass to get caught in a boot loop. While Google has tried to address the issue before, they haven’t had much luck, but today’s update labelled XE17 promises to finally cure that boot looping bug once and for all. XE17 is otherwise a pretty small update from the last version, bringing only “reliability improvements” and no new features. Still, fixing bugs and bringing stability to a b…

White Moto E listed on Indian import and export site Zauba
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Motorola has an event planned for May 13th in London, but they also happen to be holding an event in India on the same day. There has been a lot of speculation that Motorola would be unveiling the Moto E, and if the device appearing on an Indian import/export site is any confirmation, it looks like we’ll see it unveiled in both locations in May. The site, Zauba, keeps a track of what comes in and out of India. Zauba lists the XT1022 with a price of right around $105, after currency conversion. Considering Motorola’s tagline for the event is a device “priced for all,” it certainly makes sense that they could be taking the wraps off of a device that hits the price poi…

Jury weighs Google’s influence after Apple-Samsung trial
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
According to the jury foreman in the Apple-Samsung trial, the introduction of Google into the trial has raised questions about Apple’s true motivations. The trial ended with Apple being awarded $119.6 million due to Samsung infringing in 3 patents. Despite having to pay Apple, this was considered a victory for Samsung, mostly because this number was far less than the $2.2 billion that Apple was seeking. Not only that, but the jury also found that Apple infringed on one of Samsung‘s patents, and Samsung was awarded $158,400. Mr. Tom Dunham, the jury foreman and an ex-IBM software executive, said that the jury was curious about how Google may have affected Apple’s m…

Watch this ridiculous speech that would make even Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley characters blush
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Is parody even possible when it comes to the tech world? It's a question that needs to be asked in the wake of a speech given this week by Justin Rosenstein, a former Google and Facebook engineer who cofounded Asana in 2008. Speaking at TechCrunch's Disrupt conference on Monday, Rosenstein delivered a keynote that oozed with every single ridiculous Silicon Valley trope we've ever heard and was so hilariously self-important that we can't even imagine Mike Judge signing off on it in his hit HBO satire Silicon Valley. A $25 Firefox OS smartphone has already been shown off, and ARM believes that a $20 1x Cortex-A5 2.5G Android smartphone is soon to follow. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

‘Moves’ iPhone app changes privacy policy after being acquired by Facebook
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
We have covered Moves a few times here on BGR. The sleek and smart iPhone app counts your steps each day using the iPhone 5s's in-built M7 motion co-processor, and it collects and presents that data in a great-looking minimalistic interface. Not long ago, the company behind Moves was acquired by Facebook. On the plus side, Facebook instantly made the app free following the acquisition. But as many had feared, the company also changed the app's privacy policy. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

HTC’s upcoming flagship phablet rumored to be an absolute beast
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

Last year's flagship HTC One smartphone was later joined by a supersized HTC One max phablet, but the gigantic handset didn't seem to gain much traction in a market dominated by the Galaxy Note 3 and other massive Samsung phones. The struggling smartphone maker is finally seeing some momentum thanks to its new HTC One (M8) flagship phone though, and it will apparently soon look to build on that momentum with a phablet currently being referred to as the "HTC One (M8) Prime."
