HTC One Mini 2 press renders leak, missing dual camera setup
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

This is our best look yet at the upcoming HTC One Mini 2. The image above came from @evleaks over on Twitter. It shows the handset available in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold. You can also tell that it is missing one of selling points found on the HTC One (M8). The dual camera setup is not here. Dual LED flash is missing, too. Why? This is a ‘mini’ device and some cuts had to be made. Hit the break for an additional press render that leaked. LG G3 press render leaks once again, this time in white and seemingly within a case
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
On Saturday, a press render of the LG G3 surfaced on Twitter thanks to a tip received by @evleaks. It showed the handset in black and presumably covered by a case. Once again, @evleaks has followed up with an additional image. The image above is an alleged press render of LG’s upcoming flagship in white. It looks like this one also features the handset enclosed in a case. Regardless, we can see that LG is going the Nexus 5 route and keeping the front completely black rather than making everything the same color. This choice was reflected in a previous leak. And if this is indeed the G3 in a case, the cutout on the top left is likely for an IR blaster. Stay tuned for…

by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Alright, we get it. Not everyone is that big on a stock Android experience. Some people prefer to have a skin to give a little more personality. So rather than buying the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition, that just received a price cut, there is another option to get Sony’s massive phablet. Through Sony’s official store, you can now purchase the Xperia Z Ultra LTE for $449. That is the same price running in the Play Store, but this one keeps Sony’s UI. This device will come unlocked directly from Sony. This is for the LTE model and interestingly enough, the HSPA+ model still costs a whopping $629. What are you waiting for? Hit the source link below to order yours. …

Alleged press render of the LG G3 in black leaks, seems to be covered by a black case
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
This could be our best look yet at the upcoming LG G3. On Twitter, @evleaks shared the image above after receiving it as a tip. It shows the device in black, something that we have not commonly seen compared to the white model. There are no physical buttons on the front, making it clear that LG is sticking to its guns by using on-screen buttons. While the back of this press render shows the rear of the G3 as well, it seems like a case covering it. The spaces for the rear buttons, LED flash, and other slots are recessed compared to the rest of the back. Stay tuned for LG’s press event on May 27. by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

In the market for a new tablet? You may want to wait and see what Hewlett-Packard has up its sleeve. Some unnamed tablets, courtesy of @evleaks, from HP leaked on Twitter. On his official site, @evleaks shared a slew of images. It has the tablets in silver, red, and gold. The front, especially for the silver model, looks eerily similar to HTC’s design language. The tablets look rather nice, so perhaps HP will load them will some impressive hardware specifications. Xiaomi Mi3S specifications leak again, some hardware shots too
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Earlier last month, we learned about the specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi3S. Today, the handset’s specifications have leaked once again and it confirms what we heard previously. In addition to the specifications leaking, two photographs of the Mi3S’ hardware have come along for the ride as well. The 5-inch display’s resolution is 1080p, something rather common these days. Behind the scenes, though, is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and 3GB of RAM. While Xiaomi is using its MIUI skin, Android 4.4.2 is at its core. On the back is a 13MP camera and inside rests 16GB of internal memory. Hit the break for images of the hardware. Sourc…

AT&T’s VoLTE believed to be coming on May 23, no word on Verizon’s
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

AT&T customers in Chicago and Minneapolis better be ready for something brand new at the end of this month. On May 23, sources say AT&T’s Voice over LTE (VoLTE) will go live in those two markets. This would utilize 4G LTE networks to make voice calls rather than older 2G and 3G networks. This would make them the first carrier in the United States to have a VoLTE network operating. Verizon, on the other hand, has remained silent as to when its VoLTE network will go live. The Samsung Galaxy S 5 is reportedly ready to operate with AT&T’s VoLTE network. As early as the start of 2013, we have heard Samsung’s devices were being tested by the carrier. Via: Enga…

Jury finds Samsung infringed on two of Apple’s patents, Apple awarded $119.6 million
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
The verdict on the latest case between Apple and Samsung is in, and the jury has partially ruled in Apple’s favor. According to their decision, Samsung infringed on just two of Apple’s patents out of the five in the suit. All of the devices in the lawsuit were found to infringe on the quick links patent, and some of the devices infringed on the infamous slide-to-unlock patent. However, Apple did find one device that was found to infringe, but they weren’t awarded damages for it, so the jury will meet again on Monday to make a decision there. In total, Apple was awarded $119.6 million in damages, which could go up slightly after the weekend. Not a bad reward, but it’s pre…

Latest Android distribution numbers show KitKat slowly climbing towards 10% of all devices
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
The latest Android distribution numbers for May show that KitKat keeps climbing at the expense of older Android software. The numbers for 4.4 put it on 8.5% of all Android devices, showing over a 50% improvement from last month. Jelly Bean is still holding strong, but 4.1 took a dip to make room for newer versions of Jelly Bean, which all saw some slight improvements. Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread both fell about 1%, but Honeycomb didn’t change at all, and Froyo still accounts for 1% of devices. It’ll disappear completely one day, right? KitKat really looks like it’s picking up steam, with newer devices (like the popular Galaxy S 5 and HTC One launching with Ki…

Google is updating their Google Drive app for Android this week, but the app will actually remove some functionality from it, likely because of the release of separate apps for documents and spreadsheets. To edit any documents users will need to install the new Docs and Sheets apps, although these documents can be viewed on the main Drive app. Once the new apps are installed, the features and functions are much the same as the old Drive app. Hit the break for more info, as well as the Play Store download link! A powerpoint presentations app should be on its way, which will work much the same way as the other apps in the Google Drive family. Play Store Down…

The device has now leaked again, this time with a white finish. According to the source that leaked the info, a Korean website called Ruliwed, the device may not include the Snapdragon 805 after all, but will instead come with a Snapdragon 801 which is used by a number of companies including Samsung and Sony. The source also lists some of the specs as including a 5.3-inch 1080p AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, and 3,140 mAh battery. New York is pushing through a brilliant plan to make free Wi-Fi available across the city
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
It's taken a while but it looks like New York City will finally go through with a brilliant plan that will greatly expand the number of Wi-Fi hotspots available throughout the five boroughs. New York mayor Bill de Blasio this week announced that he's seeking proposals for how to best build a citywide Wi-Fi network that uses pay phone booths as hotspots. This initiative started under former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg but it was fairly limited in reach — de Blasio apparently wants to push it much further to create a Wi-Fi network capable of spanning huge chunks of the city. Why Mesh networks look like the wave of the future
by Guest Ben Zigterman- 0 replies

If you want to connect to the Internet today, you need to connect to one of the major ISPs, such as Comcast, Verizon, or AT&T. These companies are not exactly everyone’s favorites, but what if you could connect to the internet by connecting to a network of nearby computers instead? Well, that’s the idea behind mesh networking, a fascinating technology that could become much more mainstream, thanks to Apple’s inclusion of it in iOS 7. Continue reading... One last look at the fantastic history of Nokia cell phones
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

For nearly a decade, Nokia was synonymous with the cell phone industry. From the classic, boxy, featureless phones all the way up through the Lumia line, Nokia attempted to evolve along with the market it had a hand in creating. But by the time the Android operating system and the iPhone hit the scene, it was too late to recover. Nokia floundered for a bit, gasping for air as the competition overtook it, until Microsoft finally decided it might be worth saving the most reliable provider of Windows Phone devices. In an interview with Yahoo Tech, Legere predicts that T-Mobile's momentum will only grow over the next year and he thinks that the "Uncarrier" will have 75 million subscribers by this time next year. An earlier report from the Indian tracking site Zauba reported the screen size for this model as 3.3 inches. The User Agent profile also lists the device as running Android 4.4.2.
