http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/8ebbb803b02e4358e8fe437f62adb527.jpg No matter how big a LeBron James fan you might be, chances are you still won't need to clutter your already bloatware-filled Galaxy device with a new application from Samsung. On the off chance you actually want to spy on LeBron’s every (public) move, you can download a new Samsung app and enjoy all the LeBron-only content you can handle. Continue reading... by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
- 75 views
Amazon's push to get packages to your doorstep as quickly as possible continues as Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles have been added to the list of cities offering same day delivery. The Wall Street Journal reports that along with the service's expansion into three new metropolitan areas, several of the cities which had already featured same day delivery have been given even later cut-off times before their orders will be pushed to the next day. If you're pregnant and you don't want to be subjected to countless ads reminding you of your pregnancy, then you may want to avoid using the Internet for the next 9 months or so. ThinkProgress has an interview with Janet Vertesi, an assistant professor of sociology at Princeton University who tried her best to conceal her pregnancy from Facebook and other social networks' ad algorithms and found that it was so difficult that it wasn't even worth doing unless you're willing to basically send and receive any messages about your pregnancy through a carrier pigeon. Jealous that your HTC One M8 isn’t the Harmon Kardon edition? As always, XDA has your back
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
With Sprint releasing the Harmon Kardon edition of their HTC One M8, it left a slight bad taste to current HTC M8 users that have already bought the device. Although in due time, I figured there would be a dev(s) out there that would be able to port the software of the HK edition into regular HTC M8′s. As always, that didn’t take too long as a dev from the trusty XDA site by the name of baadnewz has done just that. If your phone is rooted and has a custom recovery, you can turn your M8 into the HK edition with a few steps. Users that have tried it are already reporting a much improved audio experience while listening to music through their headphones. Sadly, the only p…

Sony introduces their latest open source project ‘EvolutionUI’
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
One of Sony’s development research employees recently unveiled their latest project dubbed as EvolutionUI. It’s essentially a phone UI that gets “better” in time the more you use it. In essence, think of it like a video game as you receive “achievements” of sorts. I’m not exactly too keen on the idea, and by the looks of the comments in the video, many share my sentiments. Nonetheless, it is something new and worth a look at. Check out the video below after the break and let me know what you think of it. Even if you may not like it, do you see any upside to it? My guess is it may fare well towards users that are just starting to use a smartphone. Click here to vi…

Check out the latest news on Google’s attempt to expand Google Fiber
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
Earlier this year, we reported that Google had 34 cities in mind to expand their Google Fiber product. While we’re almost mid-way through the year, we haven’t heard much of their progress until today. According to Google, they have actually been busy in preparations to prepare Google Fiber for those said cities. Google is currently working through a “checklist” on what needs to be done and almost finished. One of the main things that Google still needs to accomplish in order to come through with their promise would be getting approval from several city councils in regards to its “fiber huts” which would house thousands of glass fibers to coordinate the network. This is…

Here’s the latest major update on Google’s possible Fiber expansion
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
Earlier this year, Google announced that it was looking at expanding its Fiber service to new markets and that it was looking at 34 new cities in 9 metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, and San Jose. It's been nearly three months since the announcement and news on the possible expansion has been virtually non-existent, which is why Google's update on Thursday was notable. According to the Google Fiber Blog, the cities have been busy working through a checklist to prepare for Google Fiber, and "for the most part," they're nearly finished. Continue reading... Watch this haunting footage of a Japanese ghost town abandoned in the wake of Fukushima
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
The effects of the disastrous tsunami in Japan that caused a catastrophic failure at the Fukushima nuclear power plant are still being felt to this very day. Recovery efforts began immediately after the plant was hit, but the damage to surrounding areas will take many years to repair. In fact, the nearly 16,000 residents of the town Tomioka, Fukushima, the home of the plant, has been abandoned for over three years. Employing the use of flying drones, HEXa Media, a Japan-based company has returned to the ghost town to explore the ongoing cleanup. It's a fascinating look at a beautiful city, missing the thousands of families that once called Tomioka home. Take a look at the…

Verizon has started whining about the FCC’s 600MHz auction rules
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Nothing provokes ridiculous whining from major carriers more than being told that they can't completely buy up every last piece of valuable spectrum. Re/code points out that Verizon has decided to follow in AT&T's footsteps and stamp its feet about the restrictions that the Federal Communications Commission has put in place to reserve some chunks of spectrum for smaller operators. Video: This crazy experimental smartphone has three foldable displays
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Although we doubt you'll be seeing it at your local Best Buy anytime soon, the PaperFold is one experimental smartphone design that really catches the eye. Developed by researchers at Queen's College in Canada, the PaperFold uses three different displays that can fold over one another and are responsive to where they are relative to each other. So for instance, if you fold out the device to look like a laptop with one display flat on the table and another set up vertically, the device will know to make the horizontal display into a keyboard and the vertical display into your primary screen. by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
- 54 views
HD Widgets 4 has been in a beta stage for a little over a week now, with cloud.tv planning on releasing the new features to everyone on May 1st. Well, the day’s finally here, and you’ll seen be able to snag the update to one of the most successful apps ever on the Play Store. The update features a massive design overhaul to the app, but still keeps what made HD Widgets so great in the first place. You’ll get a pull-out navigation drawer that’s more and more common in Android apps, plus new forecast options, including a 10 day forecast. There are also a few new widget sizes, and the normal widgets are constrained instead of expanding to look better on devices with od…

Jury denied additional information about Steve Jobs intentions in Apple v. Samsung case
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
The jury in the Apple v. Samsung case is set to make a ruling (again) about whether Samsung infringed Apple’s patents and if Samsung really owes Apple 2 billion dollars in damages. To try to get some additional information before deciding, the jurors asked for more information about what Steve Jobs said when he decided to prosecute Samsung, as well as if Google was ever mentioned in his conversations. While Google isn’t directly involved in the case, one of the devices included in this trial (the Galaxy Nexus) ran stock Android software that was claimed to violate one of Apple’s patents, and Google has brought forward some employees to defend Samsung. The jury also …

HTC One (M8) will soon be available in red, blue, and pink
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

We have already seen the stunning HTC One (M8) in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold. We have also seen it in black thanks to Sprint’s special Harman Kardon edition. And the handset has leaked in Stealth Red multiple times. Now it looks like more colors are going to enter the fold. On Twitter, @evleaks is proclaiming that the HTC will be adding three colors. What are they? Red, blue, and pink. We have already heard about the red, but the blue and pink colors are new. Last year, HTC and Best Buy joined forces to release a blue HTC One (M7). As for pink, that’ll be interesting to see how it appeals to the ladies. HTC One (M8) will add three colors to the…

Google Now makes shopping at a mall easier
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
Going to a mall that you’re not familiar with is always quite daunting, especially if it’s a big one with dozens upon dozens of stores. Thankfully, Google Now aims to make that a little easier on you with a new feature that tells you exactly what stores are in that particular mall that you’re currently in. While Google Now only lists the stores, sadly it doesn’t provide you with some sort of a guide on how to get there. This feature should be available now and let us know if you’ve been able to use it already! source: AP Come comment on this article: Google Now makes shopping at a mall easier Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much mor…

Twitter experimenting with a mute feature in its mobile app
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
Twitter could finally be implementing a “mute” option for their official mobile app. Twitter is currently experimenting with the very desired “mute” functionality, and could bring it to the mobile apps soon. Almost every popular 3rd party Twitter app already has this feature, so it’s nice to see Twitter finally doing it. I’m sure you’ve desired to mute a certain someone from your timeline for either a period of time or indefinitely, so this function should be welcomed by all. Hopefully this feature will become a mainstay within their app. Do any of you guys use Twitter’s official app or have you grown too attached to a certain 3rd party app? If so, let us know! sour…

Why AT&T’s newest data cap scheme may be even worse than you think
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
AT&T has been billing its potential "sponsored data" initiative as a big win for its subscribers, since it will let them consume data from their favorite websites and apps on an unlimited basis as long as those apps and websites "sponsor" their data by paying AT&T a fee. However, GigaOM's Antonios Drossos makes a compelling case that schemes such as this are even more of a threat to the open Internet than even the Federal Communications Commission's heavily criticized plan to allow ISPs to create Internet "fast lanes" where big companies can pay to have their data delivered more quickly than over the standard Internet. Here’s one reason to fall back in love with the Galaxy S3
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The “old” Galaxy S3 may not be the hottest Samsung Android handset in town anymore, but there still are millions of these devices in use around the world. One of the phone’s main “flaws” is the fact that it’s still stuck in a Jelly Bean universe, six months after Google released the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Luckily, Sprint’s Galaxy S3 version is finally going to receive its KitKat build, making the phone a lot more exciting for users and bringing hope that other versions will follow the same path soon. by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

Your smartphone is a totally adequate replacement for a standard point-and-shoot camera, but there are still plenty of limitations holding you back from advanced photography and videography. The designers of the most ubiquitous smartphone camera of all, that of the iPhone, are aware of those limitations, yet want their latest creation to be as portable as a smartphone. Their new invention is called CENTR and it's a portable, affordable 360-degree video camera that could change the way you record your family vacations, your trips abroad or even your next feature film. A sexy waterproof handset is apparently heading to Verizon
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Sony is still struggling when it comes to establishing a fruitful relationship with U.S. carriers, but it looks like the Japanese giant has scored a major deal with Verizon, which will apparently soon launch Sony's newest flagship Android handset. While Verizon has yet to officially announce the Xperia Z2, Sony jumped the gun and mistakenly published a press image of the device, complete with a Verizon logo, on its Sony Xperia Google+ page. The picture was quickly deleted, but not before being picked up by Droid Life. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

One chart shows why no one cares about your awesome smartphone app
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Being a mobile app developer is tough. It's entirely possible to create a mind-blowing app that will change the world and yet not have anyone notice. Even more infuriating is the fact that tons of useless Flappy Bird-style apps seemingly pop up as overnight sensations for reasons that are completely inexplicable. Continue reading...
