LastPass updated, adds biometric security on Galaxy S5
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
The Galaxy S5′s fingerprint scanner isn’t only useful for its users to unlock the device — many app developers have taken advantage of the technology as well, the latest being LastPass. The popular password storage system has added biometric security in its latest update for the Galaxy S5, leveraging the device’s fingerprint scanning abilities. Now, users can swipe their finger on the screen for a faster and more secure way to log into accounts (instead of using the master password each time). The update is available through LastPass’ Premium Service and is available for download now. Hit the break for the Play Store download link. Play Store Download Link …

HTC rumored to be readying premium version of M8 codenamed M8 Prime
by Guest Harrison Kaminsky- 0 replies
Rumors of HTC’s M8 Ace, a plastic variant of the M8, have been circulating, and now it looks like rumors of a new variant are starting to swirl. @evleaks teased the “M8 Prime” on Twitter, saying, “Forget the Ace. What y’all are really waiting for is codenamed M8 Prime.” We don’t know how much better (or worse) this phone will be than the HTC One (M8), but we’d guess that this will be a higher-end version of the flagship. Samsung is currently readying a premium Galaxy S5 codenamed the “KQ,” which will have a 2560×1440 display — the M8 Prime should be the KQ’s competitor. We’ll be sure soon enough. by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Waiting to get your hands on the new OnePlus One? You may be in it for the long haul. The company has provided a roadmap for the device’s production. It should be of no surprise that the OnePlus One’s very low price tag (starting at $299) garnered a ton of interest from consumers. For this reason, OnePlus had to modify its production schedule. While those phone smashers are starting to get their handsets, the bulk of consumers will have to wait until late June or even July to get the OnePlus One. This is the new OnePlus One production schedule: Ready now – 100 for phone smashers Mid to late May – Larger batch 16GB Silk White for the first batch of invites Early J…

Welcome to the handset business, Microsoft: Nokia’s phone revenue plummets in Q1
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's devices and services business was finalized last Friday but Nokia had one last gift for the new owner of its handset business: plummeting phone sales. Nokia on Tuesday reported its results for the first quarter of 2014, which included a $421 million profit on revenue totaling $3.7 billion, down 15% on year. Net sales in Nokia's former devices and services business came in at just under $2.7 billion, which represents a massive 30% decline compared to the same quarter in 2013. Nokia's handset business posted a $424 million operating loss in the quarter, so Microsoft clearly has a steep hill to climb — and we're not sure if a selfie phone a…

European Commission warns Google and Samsung on ‘patent abuse’
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
The European Commission is once again cracking down on two of the biggest technology firms on the planet for patent abuse. The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that Google's Motorola Mobility received a warning from the Commission after it refused to grant technology licenses to Apple, and then proceeded to sue Apple for patent infringement when the company used the licenses anyway. Samsung also settled a separate case in which it attempted to use patents to block an Apple phone from entering the market. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Why the NSA might not say anything about the next ‘Heartbleed’
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Secretive agencies like the National Security Agency will not hurry to disclose future Heartbleed-like security issues, or at least they won’t always be interested in doing so, The White House revealed in a blog post. It also reiterated the fact that the NSA did not actually know about this major security bug that affected 66% of the entire Internet, as it was previously rumored. After all, the NSA denied everything on Twitter — and soon after, the NSA released its own set of instructions telling the public how to deal with the security flaw. Continue reading... Acer announces the Iconia Tab 7, the perfect smartphone for your pet gorilla
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
Just when you thought phones weren’t big enough, Acer comes to the rescue. They just unveiled a behemoth of a phone in the Iconia Tab 7. It’s basically a tablet with phone functionality. They are saying it’s “super portable,” but how can that be if it doesn’t fit in my pocket? The Iconia Tab 7 features a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution and a quad-core MediaTek processor. The phone functionality is over 3G, so no LTE. They didn’t divulge any other specs, but as you can see, this device is for emerging markets. It will sport KitKat however. It will be available in Latin America, Asia, and parts of Europe for €149 or 1,990 Mexican pesos. Mexico’s device wi…

Acer introduced the Iconia Tab 7, teased a new smartphone and wearable, but they had one more trick up their sleeve. They showed a new Chromebook that will sport an Intel Core i3 Haswell CPU. Acer is saying that it will be the “most powerful Chromebook on the market.” Details are scarce, but this new model will be based on the same chassis as the C720 line of 11.6-inch Chromebooks. They will offer 14 and 15-inch models, and the base model should be available this Summer. source: SlashGear Come comment on this article: Upcoming Acer Chromebook to feature Intel Core i3 Haswell CPU Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more! Rear buttons of the LG G3 leak, modified from last year
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
It looks like LG will be making another change to its button setup even after the moving everything to the back with last year’s LG G2. But do not worry, everything will remain on the rear of the device. It will all look a bit different, though. While we saw the back of the G3 over the weekend, @evleaks offered a closeup this afternoon. The metallic piece in the center is presumably the power button and above and below should lie the volume buttons. And of course above all of that is the camera. Next to that, on your right, is the camera’s flash. However, on the left is something unknown. There is a chance LG goes Samsung’s route and opts for a heart rate sensor. Wh…

Galaxy S 5 Google Play Edition shows up in Play Store, but you can’t purchase it yet
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
When HTC announced the One (M8), we almost immediately heard that they were going to release a Google Play Edition of the device. Everyone assumed Samsung would do the same with the Galaxy S 5, but it’s been several weeks since the device became available for purchase and there’s still no word on when or if we will see a Google Play Edition. Earlier on the Play Store, Google updated their page listing all of the GPE devices, and although there’s no official addition of the S 5, the older GPE Galaxy S 5 now has the image of a Galaxy S 5. The link still shows the S 4, but if Google and Samsung weren’t planning on selling some variant of the S 5, why would they take t…

Microsoft's Office suite has been a big hit on the iPad so far but it was also missing a crucial feature when it was first released last month: The ability to print out your documents from your tablet. Don't fret, however, because Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it's issuing its first update on Office for iPad that will enable printing on Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Other features included in the update are SmartGuides, a PowerPoint feature designed to "help you align pictures, shapes, and textboxes as you move them around on a slide," and AutoFit, a new Excel feature that "lets you adjust the width of multiple rows or the height of multiple columns at the same time. …

This amazing new iPhone case uses electromagnetic energy to show glowing notifications
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Lunecase is a new iPhone case that’s a lot smarter than other cases, as it’s able to harness the electromagnetic energy of the iPhone to show notifications for calls and messages. The case does not have any battery of its own and does not connect to the iPhone via its Lightning port, but it will detect incoming calls and texts by recognizing their respective wavelengths. By wirelessly picking up the energy it needs, it is able to then convert it into the energy required to display visual notifications. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies

The LG Optimus L III series was officially launched in Barcelona at the MWC in February. That series included the L40, L70 and L90. Well now LG has added another handset to that lineup – the L80. While the device was leaked a few hours ago, that hardly seems important now that the device is official. The device is set to feature a 5″ IPS display, dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. It will also include a 5MP rear-facing camera. The L80 will have much of the same connectivity as the other phones in the Optimus L III series. This includes dual-SIM support, 3G with HSPA on SIM 1, WiFi, Bluetooth, and so on. Not only that but…
