Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappucino didn’t kill me
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Drinking a pink, purple, and neon blue beverage at 7 o'clock in the morning isn't something I'd ever recommend, but when Starbucks spontaneously launched its new Unicorn Frappuccino with the promise that it would be gone in less than a week, my hand was forced. I've ordered the beast and consumed it over the course of an hour or so, and now I feel compelled to offer you my opinion on it, along with more information about my own personal coffee preferences than you'd ever need or want to know. It’s beginning to look like we won’t get a successor to the HTC 10. The Taiwanese-based company took to Twitter to announce that it’s upcoming flagship will be announced on May 16. The phone has been rumored as the HTC Ocean; however, it’s final name will probably be the HTC U, if the video teaser […] Come comment on this article: HTC’s squeeze-friendly U debuts on May 16 Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

LG could be going the way of the curved display with the V30
by Guest Brad Ward- 0 replies

LG could be following in Samsung’s footsteps, moving away from traditional displays for curved instead. The first application we will see this on will allegedly be the LG V30. According to The Investor, LG Display is ramping up production because of increased demand for curved OLEDs in the market. Previously, the company supplied them in small […] Come comment on this article: LG could be going the way of the curved display with the V30 Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

The Galaxy S8 is rough, tough, and refuses to bend
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is under intense scrutiny after the Galaxy Note 7, and that includes testing out just how durable this thing is. Obviously the GS8 isn’t the first phone to be lit on fire, tossed around, and put in a blender, but we always hold Samsung phones to a slightly higher standard. So, how’d […] Come comment on this article: The Galaxy S8 is rough, tough, and refuses to bend Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

There’s actually a crazy new feature coming to a flagship that isn’t the iPhone 8 or Galaxy S8
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Look, if we're being perfectly frank, there are really only a handful of flagship smartphones that will even be worth considering in 2017. Sure, the upcoming new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will undoubtedly make the cut when they debut this fall. Lenovo's upcoming second-generation Moto Z will probably be even more impressive than last year's model, and maybe we'll get a few cool new mods as well. And the Galaxy Note 8 will clearly make a splash when it's announced sometime in the summer. Of course, there are a few phones that sit all the way at the top of the pile, and they're going to be more popular than any of those other smartphones by an order of magnitude. That's rig…

It’s time to find out why everybody loves the Ring video doorbell so much
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
"Smart home" devices didn’t quite explode in popularity like market researchers insisted they would a few years ago. One of the biggest barriers is the fact that there are so many different standards and platforms that aren’t compatible, so it’s confusing to consumers. That said, there are a few categories of smart home devices that have definitely broken through to the mainstream. Smart thermostats and home security cameras are two good examples, but a new emerging one is the "smart doorbell." These simple devices stream live video to your phone, tablet, or computer whenever anyone rings your bell, and they also feature two-way voice communications to you can talk to the…

Samsung’s Windows 10 tablet is even cheaper than the Surface Pro
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Samsung unveiled at MWC 2017 a couple of compelling Windows 10 tablets ready to rival Microsoft’s highly praised Surface Pro devices. At the time, Samsung did not mention prices or release dates for the Galaxy Book tablets. However, the company announced availability details for the 10.6-inch and 12-inch Galaxy Book tablets, and the good news is they’re even cheaper than Microsoft’s Surface devices. Continue reading... Irony: Advertising giant Google wants to block ads inside its Chrome browser
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Google makes most of its money from advertisements. The company also makes the most popular internet browsing app out there, Google Chrome. In fact, chances are you already see plenty of Google ads right inside Chrome, which is probably how Google wants things to work. However, the company is about to make an unprecedented move, one that looks like a shot in the foot: Google intends to build an ad-blocking feature that would be enabled by default right inside Chrome. Microsoft is trying to make passwords obsolete, and it might succeed
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Passwords are annoying, clumsy, easily beaten (for the most part), and an absolutely antiquated form of security. They also happen to be the primary way we secure our most precious information today. Microsoft wants to change that with a new app feature that basically removes passwords from the equation entirely. It's part of the Microsoft Authenticator app, and it just might work. Scientists are worried that humanity just keeps sending junk into space
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Space is big and the hardware that humans keep sending into the great beyond is comparatively small, but our habit of letting random bits of space vehicles, boosters, and defunct satellites hang around in orbit is starting to concern scientists more than ever before. Now, the European Space Agency is sounding the alarm and pleading with the space-traveling nations to pitch in and help clean up the estimated 150 million bits of debris with the capability to destroy or damage spacecraft that accidentally collide with them. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ will be followed by five post-credit scenes
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

In the months before Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters back in 2014, many people predicted that it would be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first flop. Those people were wrong. In fact, it was one of the best superhero films of the decade, raking in over $700 million and racking up a higher score on Rotten Tomatoes than all but two other Marvel movies. Three years later, the sequel is nearly here, and it looks like audiences are in store for yet another surprising experience. Continue reading... Google wants to predict your next medical problem before symptoms appear
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

We first heard about Google’s Baseline Study a couple of years ago. At the time, it was a bold Google moonshot aiming to develop means of detecting medical conditions before they actually present any symptoms. The project has evolved since then, and it’s now part of Verily, a unit of Google’s parent company Alphabet. Verily is about to kickstart a four-year study with about 10,000 participants to understand exactly how people get sick. Continue reading... Facebook is building a helicopter to help deliver internet access in emergencies
by Guest FoxNews.com- 0 replies

After building a solar-powered plane to help deliver internet access nearly two years ago, Facebook is once again building another aircraft to deploy the internet -- this time, in the form of a helicopter. Unveiled at its F8 developer conference, the Mark Zuckerberg-led social network said the helicopter, known as the "Tether-tenna," would provide internet access and could be deployed for months in the case of an emergency. Scientists just unearthed an absolutely terrifying new sea creature
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
It's hard to imagine that, after thousands of years of cataloguing every living thing we come across, humans are still discovering new animals, but when it comes to the ocean there's just so much space to cover that it's easy to miss things. Researchers led by Northeastern University professor Dan Distel just made history by unearthing the first living example of a creature that scientists have had a hard time finding for hundreds of years. It's called a Giant Shipworm, and it's absolutely bizarre. Continue reading... Scientists rank all the ways an asteroid can kill you
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Tonight, a particularly large asteroid is going to cruise by Earth at its closest point in 400 years, and while we humans are going to be observing the flyby at a safe distance, there's always a small twinge of doubt that whispers "what if...?" in the back of our minds. Scientists led by Clemens Rumpf of the University of Southampton in the UK decided to answer that question by figuring out what aspects of an asteroid collision are actually the biggest threats to human existence. The results might surprise you. Continue reading... Trending right now: Niantic is finally addressing Pokemon Go’s biggest problem Today’s Alexa smart plug sale on Amazon is even bette…

This $8 purchase could end up saving iPhone owners hundreds of dollars
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

If you own any recent iPhone, you know a few things without question. First, iPhones are some of the best and most brilliantly designs smartphones in the world. Second, the aluminum iPhone housing is insanely slippery, and a drop that lands funny is guaranteed to smash the screen. Getting some kind of protective case is an absolute must, but smart iPhone users take things a step further. After all, a bad drop where your phone lands face-down on an uneven surface can still mean you’ll kiss your screen good-bye. You absolutely must get an iPhone screen protector if your phone has any change of coming away from a bad spill with the screen intact. Below, you’ll find our re…

Why the iPhone 7S could be better than the iPhone 8
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
We've still got months until Apple even prints the invites for the iPhone 8 event, but rumors are starting to mount. The new flagship iPhone, likely named the iPhone 8, iPhone X or iPhone Edition, will likely have an edge-to-edge display with a curved glass front, no home button, a dual-camera setup and possibly some kind of facial recognition. It all sounds great, but I think the iPhone 7 series might still have a shot at glory this year. Continue reading... Even Google’s Wi-Fi router still sucks
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
It seems to be an immutable fact that all Wi-Fi routers are doomed to be bad. In fairness, we do ask a lot of them: sit in a cupboard, never move, and don't you dare take one five-minute break per year or I'll run in there are reboot you faster than you can say WPA. So it shouldn't be surprising that Google's own Wi-Fi routers have their own set of problems. But even by the low standards of Wi-Fi routers, Google's problems sound bad. Continue reading... Chuwi Hi13 Review: A $369 hybrid notebook that might outshine Microsoft’s Surface Book
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Back in February I had the opportunity to put the Chuwi Lapbook 14.1 to the test. Its ultra-budget price paired with midrange specs resulted in a notebook that was far better than it should have been for such a ridiculously low price. Chuwi had already made a name for itself with well-received hybrid Windows tablets — namely the Hi12 tablet — so high quality wasn't a huge surprise, and now the company is launching its most highly-anticipated device yet, the Hi13. I've spent about a week using it off and on, and if there's one I can say with utter certainty it's that there's no way this thing should cost $1,000 less than a Surface Book. Continue reading...
