LG gives us a closer look at its Android Wear-powered G Watch

http://androidforum.us/data/MetaMirrorCache/b62cc7b437e9fe88646ba137beb81ea0.jpg Although Google doesn't appear to have any plans to launch its own smartwatch for the time being, the LG G Watch might be the next best thing. Developed in close collaboration with Google, the G Watch didn't seem to be nearly as flashy as the Moto 360, but now that the fervor has died down a bit, we can finally see what the LG watch will look like on our wrists. The G Watch features a more typical angular design than Motorola's entry, but looks to fit comfortably on the wrist without taking up much more room than a standard watch would. In this image, we can also get a glimpse at how text no…

Last week we told you about how Robert Scoble was all upset because Larry Page was interviewed on TED, but he wasn’t wearing Google Glass. Now you can see the interview in it’s entirety. The interview was conducted by PBS’s Charlie Rose and is titled “Where’s Google Going Next?” It lasts about 20 minutes, and you will get to hear about how we need to get computers to understand us better, the NSA, and of course, Android. If you want to give it a watch, look no further than here because we have the full video after the break. Enjoy!! source: PhoneArena Come comment on this article: Where’s Google Going Next? Is President Obama switching to Android?
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

Last week it was reported that the White House was testing both Samsung and LG smartphones for what could be the end of BlackBerry. You really didn’t think that would happen did you? I am almost certain that if the White House ever dumped BlackBerry, it would be in favor of the iPhone. Even so, it doesn’t look like either is up for the challenge because a White House spokesman has made it clear that the Executive Office of the President is not testing non-BlackBerry phones. I think the White House is BlackBerry’s last customer. The Pentagon, Capital Hill Offices, the State Department, the National Security Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security all allow emplo…

LG will cut the price of the G2 and G Pro 2 when the Galaxy S 5 releases
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
LG and Samsung are two of the most competitive Android OEMs, so it’s not uncommon to see the two base some of their strategies around what the other company is doing. LG is making the latest move in the form of some price drops right around the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S 5. According to an LG official, the LG G2 and the G Pro 2 will see some international price cuts. The devices aren’t ancient by any stretch, but they aren’t on quite the same level as 2014 flagships, so a price drop will make them very desirable for the forseeable future. It’s probably not going to deter many people away from getting the latest and greatest devices if that’s what they’re after, bu…

Microsoft is thankfully too smart to listen to diehard Windows 8 fans
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
There is a certain breed of tech fanboy out there who views technology products much the way a snooty art student sees the works of famous avant-garde painters: That is, a tech product must be superior if it has been rejected by the masses of consumers who are too stupid to appreciate its true brilliance. Nowhere has this phenomenon been more apparent than with diehard fans of Windows 8, Microsoft's attempt at fusing a desktop operating system with a touch-centric OS that has been so polarizing that Microsoft employees have reportedly started calling it "the new Vista." AMAZING: Newly discovered letter gives heartbreaking first-hand account of Titanic tragedy
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
British passenger liner RMS Titanic was one of the greatest vessels the world had ever seen when it set sail in 1912, and its tragic demise on April 15th of that year was one of the deadliest maritime disasters in modern history. We all know the story well — the massive passenger ship collided with an iceberg on its maiden voyage, ultimately sinking and killing more than 1,500 of its 2,200 passengers. In a new twist that strays from our typical coverage but is too remarkable to ignore, a letter purportedly written by a maid onboard the liner gives a riveting first-hand account of the Titanic disaster. It’s not just Microsoft: Apple and Google can also read your emails
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

People concerned with online privacy had a field day last week when it was discovered that Microsoft accessed a French blogger's Hotmail account and read his emails in order to assess his involvement with an alleged theft of Windows trade secrets. As numerous reports pointed out, Microsoft's Hotmail and Outlook.com terms give the company the right to access and read users' emails, and bloggers lashed out at Microsoft as a result. As it turns out, however, Microsoft isn't the only tech giant that reserves the right to read your private correspondence. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Microsoft finds surprising new ways to undermine Windows hardware
by Guest Tero Kuittinen- 0 replies

It seems increasingly likely that Microsoft Office will be announced for the iPad within days. This could be a substantial blow for Windows tablet manufacturers as the move would remove one of the few reasons to purchase a portable device powered by Microsoft operating system. Curiously, the move is coming only weeks after the unveiling of Nokia X model range — smartphones that are powered by Google's Android operating system. Continue reading... Apple is working on two versions of the iPhone 6… but only one might launch this fall
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Apple is betting that bigger will be better when it comes to the iPhone 6, which is why it's reportedly working on two versions of the device that are both larger than the iPhone 5s. Barron's flags a new research note from UBS analyst Steve Milunovich, who says that Apple now has a 4.7-inch version and a 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 in the works, although he's only certain that Apple will release one of them this fall. All New HTC One (M8) camera functions get detailed in new hands on video
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
We are only two days away from the unveiling of the All New HTC One (M8) so why not another thorough hands on video review? I have good news and bad news. First, the good news, this video is much better than previous ones. The bad news is that it’s in German, and Google’s closed caption translator isn’t all that effective. Still, you can get a pretty good idea of the new Sense 6.0 and some of the new Duo Camera features. The video is a total of 14:02, but the camera section is pretty thorough and starts at about 5:30. The reviewer says the main lens is 4.1 UltraPixel and the secondary lens is 2MP. This contradicts with an earlier report indicating at least one lens is …

Huawei condemns NSA for snooping
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
Huawei made a statement on Sunday saying that they would condemn the NSA for snooping if reports of the agency doing so proved to be true. According to documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden, the NSA may have been monitoring executives at Huawei and their communications. According to the New York Times, a goal of one of the NSA operations, code-named “Shotgiant”, was to find connections between Huawei and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Apparently the NSA also wanted to exploit Huawei’s technology and use telephone networks that Huawei sold to conduct surveillance. Reportedly, the NSA gained access to Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzen and obtained i…

LG announces new Smart Lamp light bulbs
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Just when you thought everything was ‘smart,’ a company announces something new. This time around is LG with the all new Smart Lamp light bulb. The light bulb will connect to your Android device as long as it is running at least Android 4.3 or iOS 6 devices. LG says the Smart Lamp light bulbs will run for ten years if they remain on for around five hours per day. So what do the light bulbs actually do? There is a security mode to turn on when you are not home in order to imitate someone actually being present. Also, unsurprisingly, the bulbs can enter a mode that matches the songs streaming from your Android device. And when someone calls, the light bulbs will let you …

by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

By far the biggest story of the week had to be Google unveiling Android Wear, a modified version of Android for wearables. Shortly after, LG and Motorola announced upcoming smartwatches, but Motorola clearly stole the thunder. It can’t come out soon enough. Sick of reading about all the leaks of the All New HTC One? Well the unveiling is finally here. We will finally get our paws on it this Tuesday, and who knows, it just might be available for purchase the very same day. The Game Developers Conference was this week and Google announced Google Play Games will place nicely with iOS. Speaking of iOS, could iTunes come to Android? It’s time to get caught up and get ready for…

The All New HTC One (M8) could be available exclusively at this major U.S. carrier on March 25
by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies
There was a report that the All New HTC One (M8) would be available in the UK right after HTC’s official unveiling this Tuesday. Of course everyone in the U.S. wanted to know where the love is, and we have an answer. A very “trusted source” has confirmed that Verizon Wireless, yup that’s right, Big Red, will offer the phone this Tuesday, March 25, at 1:00pm which is right after the unveiling. I guess that marketing poster we saw a couple of days was real. For those of you on AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile, your day will come, but it won’t be for another two weeks. Earlier reports indicated the global launch for that exact timeframe, so it looks that rumor will hold. …

The Nokia X is the first Android powered handset by Nokia which generated quite a buzz. It was recently reported that the pre-orders of the handset reached 1 million in China in just four days, although we later found out that no payment was actually required to pre-order, it was more of a registration to be eligible to enter the contest. Nokia recently posted a poll on its blog asking its fans which was their favorite feature of the Nokia X. Among the options presented, the “Android apps” option received the highest vote of 20.1% followed closely by “Nokia apps (HERE Maps, Mix Radio, etc)” (15.69%). The “distinctive Nokia design” (13.62%) ranked third followed by “F…

Motorola to release 6-inch phablet in Q3
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
A while ago we heard that Motorola was working on a 6.3-inch phablet to be released in 2014. That information was released way back in October, just after the Moto X was first released. Well we haven’t heard anything about the so-called Xplay since then. Until now, that is. According to the source that first leaked the Moto X and Moto G, the 6-inch phablet is now set to be released in Q3 (between July and September) of this year. While this source does say a Motorola phablet will be released at this time, we don’t yet know if this is the Xplay, or if it’s even 6.3 inches anymore. More information about the device should be released within the coming months. Sourc…

by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies

Google Glass Explorers in the San Francisco area will be glad to know that not every bar is seeking to ban the technological gizmo. In fact, the Stanford Court hotel in the Nob Hill area is offering a special deal for Glass owners who come in for a drink. Just come on up to the bar and get your first drink on the house if you are wearing your Glass device. The hotel’s general manager Michael Baier says “We want to attract the tech crowd, so we’re telling Google Glass wearers they’re welcome, along with everyone else.” The move is part of a larger effort to revamp the hotel to appeal to a tech rich crowd. The hotel does ask Glass owners who receive a free drink to snap …

Benchmark entry suggests Android KitKat for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could be around the corner
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
Last month word came out that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would join other devices in the manufacturers portfolio as a recipient of Android KitKat. However, no information was available regarding a projected date for the update to be available. A new entry on GFXBench suggests the manufacturer could be quite close to having the update ready. The entry on GFXBench is for a version of the Galaxy Note 2 used by South Korean carriers. It lists Android 4.4.2 as one of the operating systems for the devices. This suggests Samsung has entered the testing phase with the updated operating system, at least for devices intended for their home market. Updates for international versio…

Latest promotional video for HTC All New One shows off HTC Zoe
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
HTC has released another “technical translation” video to keep the hype train going for the March 25th unveiling of the All New One. The previous videos in this marketing campaign have gone over improvements to BoomSound, the premium metal body, and the Ultrapixel camera of the device. The fourth video recaps one of the coolest software features of the original HTC One: Zoe. This technical translation breaks down exactly what makes HTC Zoe so special, and (sort of) tells us what awesome new things Zoe will do on the All New One. Yes, the phone is still pixelated, and yes, all the worthwhile information is still censored. HTC may have utterly failed at keeping …

by Guest Alihassan Mahdi- 0 replies

When LG announced the L Series III comprised of three mid-range smartphones at the MWC event last month, they didn’t mention the pricing of the LG L70 or when the device would be available for sale. According to ePrice, the LG L70 will carry a price tag of $163 in Taiwan and will be up for sale starting from April 1. On the other hand, Amazon Germany has also listed the price of the device at $246, which is more expensive than what ePrice suggested. However, the availability date hasn’t been mentioned on Amazon’s site but it seems that it will also have the L70 in stock from April 1. As for the specs, the mid-range smartphone includes a 4.5-inch IPS Display (800 …
