Moto 360 to include OLED screen, wireless charging and sapphire glass
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
The Moto 360 is one of the most interesting smartwatches to date, and while it certainly looks great not too much is known about the specifications of the device. We know for sure that the device will run on Android Wear, the new OS made specifically for wearable devices. Other rumors are suggesting that the device will include an OLED display, which makes sense due to the fact that Motorola stated that they would use technology from the Moto X. An OLED screen would also be the obvious choice to save battery life. Furthermore, according to the rumors the device will also include sapphire glass and that it will use induction wireless charging, which makes sense con…

Want to test out the Galaxy S 5 and the new Galaxy Gear line before release date? Starting today, Best Buy will be making sample units of the devices available to the public in its stores, weeks before their respective launch dates. This would mark the first time a retailer has ever showcased a phone before its launch. The deal is part of Samsung’s year-old partnership with Best Buy, which brought nearly 1,400 Samsung “experience shops” within select Best Buy locations. Best Buy’s goal here is preorders, and we’re expecting that number to be pretty high in anticipation for the launch of Samsung’s newest line of Galaxy devices. Source: Mashable Come commen…

The page also gives a price for the device, with an approximate retail price being $639.99. Furthermore, AT&T is giving away 5 handsets between today and March 25, or one per day until the official launch of the device. Girl pulls most hilarious iPhone prank of all time on her mom (L... O... L.)
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

In the history of hilarious iPhone autocorrect pranks, we're not sure one has ever gone quite this well. Twitter user Makenzie (@goddamnirwin) was apparently tired of her mother messaging her constantly about bringing her dirty laundry downstairs to be washed. So, she configured an autocorrect shortcut in her mom's iPhone that would always change "dirty clothes" to "acid." Apparently her mother isn't aware that tapping the "X" next to an autocorrect suggestion cancels it, so hilarity ensued... for a painfully long time. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

The Moto 360 is a beautiful Android Wear-based smartwatch that Motorola wants to launch this year, but the company has not actually revealed many details about it when it comes to hardware. In a recent Hangouts interview, Motorola talked about design inspiration, hinted that the device will have great battery life and revealed it won’t have a microUSB charging port, but will instead rely on a secret battery-charging technology. 10 ridiculously important URLs that every single Google user needs to know
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Personally, I love that Google is so creative with my private data. I am fully aware that in order to use Google's many great "free" services, I pay the company in information about myself that helps it serve better ads. That same information lets it create fantastic services such as Google Now, and it saves me a tremendous amount of pain and suffering. It also, of course, helps make Google Search better. But even if you're like me and you're happy with this model, it's still very important to be fully aware of what Google collects and how you can control it. With that in mind, here are 10 important URLs compiled recently by Digital Inspiration that every single Google…

A whole new invasion of privacy: Facebook can identify your face 97% of the time
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
If you thought Facebook's invasion of privacy had hit its peak, think again. Facebook announced earlier this week that its DeepFace facial recognition technology is "closely approaching human-level performance." Modern facial identification has its limits, but with Facebook's limitless access to facial images through photos on its website, the company has put together a method that is 97.25% accurate for any given face, even in suboptimal conditions. That means that Facebook could identify you from even your worst selfies, which could be the most frightening threat a high school student has ever heard of. Next time you upload your family photos to the ubiquitous social ne…

ZTE Nubia X6 spotted on Tenaa with a 6.44″ display
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
The ZTE Nubia X6 has been teased a couple times by ZTE, but we haven’t really been able to find out much about the specs of the device until now. The device was recently leaked on Chinese site Tenaa, and it turns out that the device is actually a 6.44″ phablet! The screen has a 1080p resolution and will be a rival to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Because of the big screen, the device itself has larger dimensions, at 175.9 x 89 x 7.9mm. It also weighs a total of 220g. Under the hood, the device will feature a quad-core processor with a speed of 1.7GHz and 2GB of RAM. The device will run on Android 4.3, which is a little disappointing. The camera on the device will be…

Pebble sold 400,000 devices last year, ready for the Android Wear onslaught
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
While Google garnered a lot of attention earlier this week with the release of Android Wear for wearable devices, especially smart watches, one company is a bit of an “old hand” in the smart watch category. Pebble is coming off a successful 2013 that saw them sell over 400,000 smart watches and they expect revenues to double in 2014. Despite this success, Pebble’s CEO Eric Migicovsky knows Google’s entry into the market is a potential game changer and will force his company to be “laser-focused on creating the very best user experiences we can.” With the growth in revenues, Pebble has seen employment at the company expand. They have added 35 new positions, up to 70 tot…

The Play Store from Google TV had eliminated the YouTube app from its offerings last month, which seemed like a complete head-scratcher at the time. As it turns out, Google wanted to spend some time working on fixing bugs in the app— the process was finally completed today. Along with the return of the YouTube app comes improved stability and customizable closed captions. NSA says tech giants knew about its spying efforts
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The NSA on Wednesday said “unequivocally” that U.S. tech giants were “fully aware” of the agency’s data collecting operations, The Guardian reports, even though tech companies denied having any knowledge of the Prism program, or helping the NSA in any way. In fact, since the Edward Snowden leaks hit papers and the Internet, tech companies have tried to reassure customers that their privacy is very important to them by either enabling encryption for their online services, asking the government to allow them to disclose the volume and type of data they share with the agencies, and/or campaigning against the NSA’s bulk data collection efforts. Pebble knows a thing or two about selling smartwatches
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
While more and more companies are starting to take wearables seriously, Pebble appears to be doing all the selling. After launching its smartwatch via a tremendously popular Kickstarter campaign that helped raised over $10 million, the company sold over 400,000 Pebble smartwatches since January 2013, with revenues amounting to some $60 million according to Fortune. Even though the Pebble devices will get significant competition this year, Charles River Ventures partner and Pebble investor George Zachary said the company will make twice last year’s revenue this year. The Wall Street Journal on Thursday evening reported that Mt. Gox has found 200,000 missing bitcoins. Sony says there won’t be enough PS4s to go around until summer
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
If there's any downside to the massive demand for the PlayStation 4, it's that some consumers still haven't had a chance to buy the new console. According to Sony, this trend will likely continue until the "early summer months," when supply will finally meet demand, reports The Wall Street Journal. Anxious gamers will finally get a chance to pick up a PS4 without having to resort to expensive bundles or long trips to a retailer with the console in stock. With the launch of Infamous: Second Son just hours away, demand for the console is likely to be as high as ever. We'll keep an eye out to see if retailers struggle to keep up over the weekend. by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Sony has some pretty big ambitions for the PlayStation 4 that go well beyond gaming. The Wall Street Journal reports that Sony plans to release several TV shows that will be shown exclusively though PlayStation 4 consoles, starting with a supernatural detective show called "Powers" that will be produced by the company's own Sony Pictures Television studio. The Journal says that Sony's plans to offer its own exclusive content will be separate from its planned pay TV service for the PS4 that will deliver channels that have traditionally been delivered by cable and satellite TV companies. White House may drop BlackBerry after testing Samsung, LG smartphones
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
President Obama, it may be time to put down your beloved BlackBerry. Both the White House’s internal technology team and the White House Communications Agency have started testing smartphones from Samsung and LG. Also, the United States Department of Defense is also testing other devices. A Samsung spokesman would not confirm any of this; however, they did say the company is interested in the government sector. LG decided to just deflect any knowledge of the situation. What would this mean for BlackBerry? The company relies heavily upon government and enterprise accounts and losing the White House would be yet another blow. BlackBerry remains heavily behind Android and…
