iTunes Radio is popular but not even close to a ‘Pandora killer’
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

It hasn't taken very long for Apple's iTunes Radio to rise up in popularity. Via MacRumors, a new survey of American consumers conducted by Edison Research and Statista has found that iTunes Radio is now the third-most popular music streaming service and has leapt ahead of Spotify. Overall, the survey found that 8% of people surveyed said that they'd listened to iTunes Radio within the last month, more than the 6% who said that they'd listened to Spotify and the 3% who said they'd listened to Google Play All Access. Video: What if True Detective was an 8-bit video game?
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
Now that the first season of True Detective has ended, we're all anxiously awaiting season 2. Which sleuthing duo will replace Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson? Has the story of the Yellow King truly ended? Will Rustin Cohle ever shave that awful mustache? It'll be months before we have the answers to any of these questions, but for now, at least we have some very creative fans to take our minds off the extended departure of HBO's best new series. In this video, YouTuber CREWgaming has "gamified" True Detective, shrinking Rust and Marty down to 8-bit (or so) proportions. It's a fun distraction, but nevertheless contains plenty of harsh language and a few spoilers. …

by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Samsung has been eating HTC's lunch in terms of sales for a long time now but HTC isn't all that worried about raw market share numbers. Droid Life draws our attention to a new CNBC interview with HTC America President Jason Mackenzie, who says that HTC doesn't concern itself with market share numbers because its smartphones are much better designed than Samsung's and are akin to Rolex watches. Huge Titanfall update could bring 1080p gameplay
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
We've been reading a lot about pixels lately, as they pertain to new video game consoles from Sony and Microsoft. This game is true 1080p, that game isn't true 1080p, the other game is 1080p on one console but not on the other... it's all a bit tedious for outsiders, but it's obviously an issue for hardcore gamers. And rightfully so — suggesting 1080p doesn't offer any advantage over lower-resolution gaming is akin to suggesting 720p video is just as clear as 1080p video. When it comes to the Xbox One's biggest title to date, the bad news is that Titanfall definitely does not support native 1080p right now. As it turns out, however, there may be some good news on the h…

Dong Nguyen, creator of Flappy Bird, is considering bringing back his wildly popular game
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies
Thought Flappy Bird was long gone? Think again. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dong Nguyen said that the game may be making a return in the near future. When asked, Nguyen said “I’m considering it.” But due to the stress and addictiveness of the game, he clarified that it would have a warning urging users to “Please take a break.” So is Flappy Bird coming back? Maybe. When? Who knows. I am sure everyone is eager to get back to playing the game, but how will players react to the warning message? We will just have to wait and see (if Flappy Bird even makes a comeback). Personally, I could not get myself to enjoy the game. There was just nothing special about it. But…

Google’s first physical retail store to open in downtown Manhattan
by Guest Macky Evangelista- 0 replies
It’s no secret that Google has been flirting with the idea of opening it’s very own retail store for customers to physically purchase their products, much like what Apple does. If you’ve walked in your local Best Buy store, you’ll see a small Google stand that sells Google’s products that are available in the Play Store, thus the idea has always been there for Google. Now there are reports that Google may finally take the plunge into opening an actual store as they are finalizing a lease on a venue in downtown Manhattan, which just happens to be a mere block away from an Apple store. Residing on 131 Greene St. the venue offers 4,100 square feet of space as you can see wi…

Lawsuit filed against Google over in-app purchases by minors
by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Google by a New York mother who alleges Google is unfairly profiting from in-app purchases by permitting minors to make them without parents’ knowledge. The action is similar to an issue that Apple just recently resolved over a similar business model. According to one of the attorneys representing the plaintiff, Google has failed to incorporate reasonable controls that results in minors racking up excessive charges for “worthless in-game currency.” According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs are alleging that Google implemented a 30-minute window after password entry specifically to “enable children to purchase in-game curre…

Sprint chairman wants to try and purchase T-Mobile
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

It’s not exactly a well-kept secret that Sprint is interested in acquiring T-Mobile since SoftBank took over the carrier last year. However, in a recent television interview, Sprint chairman Masayoshi Son publicly stated that he would absolutely love to try and purchase the Uncarrier. He did clarify that at this point in time, Sprint hasn’t made an offer for T-Mobile. They’re still working closely with banks and antitrust authorities to try to get the finer details worked out before moving forward with any kind of deal. However, when Masayoshi Son talked about making an offer for T-Mobile, he responded with “not yet” instead of the typical “no” you would expect from…

by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies

Just because a device isn't a hot seller doesn't mean it's not worth your time. As we observed with the BlackBerry Z30's impressive capabilities as a messaging device, sometimes a mobile device simply does certain things better than the iPhone or Samsung's Galaxy devices even if it has no hope of ever matching them in terms of sales.
