Independent reports from GottaBeMobile and Android Central have confirmed that the Galaxy S5 ROM takes up even more space than the Galaxy S4’s ROM, however. Following rumors that he might kill Xbox, Elop put in charge of Microsoft’s gaming division
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
Xbox fans panicked when they read rumors that Stephen Elop, then a frontrunner in the race to become Microsoft's next chief executive, would seriously consider breaking off Xbox and Bing into new companies. The former Nokia boss helped orchestrate the sale of Nokia's devices and services businesses to Microsoft, his former employer, and he reportedly hoped the deal would land him a CEO gig following Ballmer's departure. Satya Nadella was recently named CEO, however, and Elop's future with the company has been unknown to outsiders. As Microsoft just confirmed though, Elop's new home will be atop Microsoft's devices and studios business. In other words, he'll be in charg…

WhatsApp, under new management from Facebook, has shifted course slightly on its 2014 roadmap. At MWC this year, CEO of the company, Jan Koum, announced that WhatsApp users would be seeing a new feature rolled out in the next few months: voice calling. Voice calling will initially become available to Android and iOS users in Q2 of 2014, with BlackBerry and Windows Phone users seeing the addition later on in the year. They didn’t reveal any details about how the voice calling would work, but it’s very likely that it will work like WhatsApp’s normal messaging service in that users will get a free trial period, then have to pay 99 cents per year to keep using it. Of co…

Although Windows Phone has shown some impressive gains over the past year it's still trailing far behind Google's Android and Apple's iOS in terms of both total number of users and mobile developer interest. However, Business Insider reports that Microsoft is looking at the bright side and saying that at least its mobile platform is doing better than BlackBerry, the famously beleaguered Canadian smartphone pioneer that spent a good chunk of 2013 with a "For Sale" sign on its back. by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

The days of endless marketing spam are finally coming to an end. ITworld reports that Google is finally ready to roll out its handy unsubscribe button, a link appearing at the top of any promotional email which will prompt your Gmail account to automatically send a message to the sender and request your removal from the list of recipients. The additional link should streamline a tedious process which has plagued email users for years. Google believes that with the unsubscribe link prominently displayed at the top of the email, users will refrain from marking every unwanted message as spam. When a sender is repeatedly sent to the spam folder of hundreds of recipients, Goog…

by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies

Sony’s SmartBand is in a group of its own. Not quite smartwatch, but more than just a fitness tracker, the device may have somewhat of an identity crisis on its hands. Along with the Sony Lifelog app, the device will be available in over 60 countries next month. The band itself will be able to track your exercises, steps, and sleep. That information is sent and logged in the Lifelog app so that you can keep track of it. On top of that it adds location data and social content. With the push of a button you can note important data moments so that you can come back and review it later. While not a smartwatch, as it has no clock face, the band can pair with a sma…

Not only are they planning on boosting the quality of that e-ink display, but the new screen will also be significantly more accurate to touches and swipes than the older screen was. Another big improvement to this YotaPhone is the design. It’s sporting a much rounder, thin…
