Dubious report claims iPhone 8 hype is already stifling Galaxy S8 sales
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
A new research report from TrendForce argues that growing demand and excitement for Apple's upcoming iPhone 8 will have an adverse impact on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus sales. According to the report, the S8 will not have a major impact on Samsung's bottom line due the hype for Apple's next-gen and completely revamped iPhone model. "Major brands such as Samsung, LG and Huawei have begun to ship their flagship devices for the year," the report notes, "but the market demand going into the second quarter is expected to remain relatively weak as consumers are holding off their purchases in anticipation of the 10th anniversary iPhone devices that will arrive in the third quarter.…

We're now just two weeks away from the release of one of the most hotly anticipated games of the season. That's right, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe finally hits the Nintendo Switch on April 28! You obviously can't have a Nintendo video game console without a Mario Kart title, and the wait is almost over. Of course, there's a big difference between playing Mario Kart the right way and playing Mario Kart the wrong way. To play the right way, you're obviously going to need a steering wheel accessory for your Joy-Con controllers. You should also know that there's a right way and a wrong way to actually buy those steering wheel accessories. Here's what you need to do: pre-order Mari…

T-Mobile was originally expected to begin shipping the Galaxy S8 on April 20; however, the carrier just announced it […] Come comment on this article: Your Samsung Galaxy S8 from T-Mobile will ship on April 19 Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

Best arcade games

The arcade games of the 80’s and 90’s were quite something to experience. Being in a classic arcade, learning how to use a joystick in order to win, and eating sub-par food is something you don’t forget quickly. And yet, the classic arcade is not as much of a big deal as it once was, […] Come comment on this article: Best arcade games Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

Trump’s FCC chairman is full of crap
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
Earlier this week Ajit Pai, the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, took time out of his busy schedule of screwing consumer privacy to make an empty statement. He said that the FCC won't allow voice calls on planes, "clarifying" something that hasn't been an issue for years. The decision itself is not bad, as being stuck on a plane next to an over-eager printer salesperson is somewhere in Dante's circles of hell. But the timing of the decision -- right after Pai pushed for a surprisingly unpopular measure on internet privacy -- is suspect, and it goes against Pai's stated goals as FCC chairperson. On Wednesday, a Nintendo Switch bundle featuring Mario Kart 8 Deluxe went up for preorder on Nintendo's official Russian store, possibly spoiling an announcement that we expect the company to make during its live streamed Nintendo Direct presentation this afternoon. Amazon just discounted the Echo Dot for the first time this year
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
Amazon's teeny tiny Echo Dot speaker is the cheapest way to get Alexa, the ground-breaking virtual personal assistant that's currently taking the world by storm. At $49.99, it's $130 less than the original Amazon Echo, and $90 less than the portable Amazon Tap. Every so often, however, Amazon holds a sale that makes the Dot even more affordable, and one such sale just kicked off today. Buy three Echo Dots in any color and use the coupon code DOT3PACK at checkout, and you'll save $20 on your order. That drops the price of each Echo Dot to just over $43, which is a killer deal, and the code will only work through the end of the day on April 25th. Also, if you want to tur…

Local Nintendo Switch sales just beat PS4, PS4 Pro, 3DS and six more top consoles… combined
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies
There's precious little doubt that Nintendo Switch sales have been stunted by Nintendo's inability to produce enough consoles to keep up with demand. After the dismal failure of Nintendo's previous-generation console, it's understandable that the company would be a bit cautious when planning production ahead of launch. Shortly after the Switch was released last month, Nintendo obviously saw that it had a hit on its hands, and it announced that it was doubling production as a result. It's still unbelievably difficult to find the Nintendo Switch in stock anywhere in the United States. In fact, the only way you can get one right now is to order one on Amazon and pay a pre…

The one feature Samsung’s Galaxy S8 doesn’t have might delay the iPhone 8
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

More and more reports seem to indicate that Apple’s iPhone 8 might not be available in stores this coming September, which is usually when new iPhones arrive. It seems like some of the novel features in Apple’s 2017 flagship also come with manufacturing issues that could be harder than expected to overcome. A new research note now says that one of the key iPhone 8 features that won't be seen on any of the phone's biggest rivals may actually be the reason Apple and its partners are having so much trouble setting up production. Samsung is launching Bixby without voice commands for some reason

The Galaxy S8’s voice assistant won’t support voice commands at launch
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
We sort of heard this in the weeks preceding the Galaxy S8’s official unveiling, but now Samsung is apparently ready to confirm it: Bixby, the Galaxy S8’s new assistant, will not come with support for English language voice commands at launch. That functionality will be rolled out down the road, the company explained. This shouldn’t be a surprise, considering that creating voice-based AI assistants isn’t easy, so a beta version of Bixby is definitely expected. Some Bixby features will still work, and Google's Assistant will run on the handset. You can even pair Google's Assistant with the Bixby button. But you won’t be able to control the smartphone by voice, and that …

NASA makes exciting discoveries about the universe and nearby planets on a regular basis, but the past few months have produced a particularly steady stream of really awesome news about exoplanets, the history of Mars, and the possibility of life outside of Earth. Now, NASA wants to talk about water. More specifically, the agency is planning a news conference for Thursday, April 13th, to reveal "new results about ocean worlds," and if you're one of the many who is waiting for the day where humanity discovers evidence of living creatures not from our planet, you should be paying attention.
