Buying a new HDTV can often be a difficult balancing act. Picture quality and screen size are always among the most important considerations, and value is obviously a big one as well. Finding a gorgeous TV with a huge screen is easy if you want to spend a fortune, but finding good quality at a fair price can be far more difficult. Of course, that’s where the BGR Deals team comes in. Check out our two recommendations below, the TCL 50FS3800 50-Inch 1080p Roku Smart LED TV and the Sharp LC-50N5000U 50-Inch 1080p Smart LED TV. Both TVs are well-reviewed and very affordable — in fact, they cost less than $10 an inch! TCL 50FS3800 50-Inch 1080p Roku Smart LED TV Refr…

Here’s Volkswagen’s vision for driverless ‘pods’
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Self-driving car concepts are a dime a dozen these days, coming from every corner of the automotive industry and manufacturer. Volkswagen has shown off a couple of its own in the past, but at the Geneva Motor Show this week the company is giving us a glimpse at yet another, and it's a bit different than the rest. Rather than a traditional automobile that's been given a brain and autonomous driving powers, Volkswagen's SEDRIC is like something straight out of Minority Report. Continue reading... Oh my lord, Google finally fixed CAPTCHAs
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

The CAPTCHA system ranks somewhere between autoplaying video and mandatory email signups as one of the worst things on the internet. They've long been a necessary evil to protect internet infrastructure for bots, but Google might finally have found a solution. The reCAPTCHA system that Google runs will do away with any visual prompt that was previously necessary, instead relying on machine learning algorithms humming away in the background to spot bots. A bot-spotting bot, if you will. Continue reading... by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

You’ve probably heard that Google is planning on taking Hangouts into the business space away from consumers, but there are a ton of questions over whether or not Hangouts will still be available for you to use to chat with your buddies. Your non-business buddies, anyway. The short answer is yes, fortunately. These bizarre iPhone wallpapers will make your folders disappear
by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

Apple's iOS platform has never been more capable and versatile as it is right now, but there are still some pretty big limitations in some areas. One of those areas, of course, is customization. Apple has a very specific vision of the mobile experience it wants to provide for its user base, and it has structured its mobile platform in such a way that users can't stray very far from that vision unless they choose to jailbreak their iPhones or iPads. For most people, that's fine, but some users want to stray from the pack a little bit and separate themselves from the crowd. For these users, there's a brand new series of special wallpapers that will let you do things to y…

Steal $120 per year out of your ISP’s pocket with this $45 cable modem
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

Pull out your cable bill right now. On second thought, keep it in your filing drawer — we don’t want to ruin your day. If you were going to whip out your cable and internet bill though, you’d see all sorts of ridiculous fees that tack a ridiculous amount of money onto your already pricey monthly bill. What you might not know, however, is that you can completely eliminate the modem rental fee on that bill, which amounts to between $8 and $10 each month depending on your provider. Just pick up a NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.0 340Mbps Cable Modem, activate it using the instructions in the manual, and return your old modem to your cable internet provider — you’ll start saving up to $120 …

Another sign that the Switch launch is Nintendo’s best ever
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

The Nintendo Switch is undeniably a flawed console, but that hasn't stopped it from flying off store shelves the world over. In fact, a recent report from Vandal reveals that the Switch had sold around 45,000 in Spain in its first three days of availability. That might not sound like much, but to put it into context, Vandal claims that Sony sold 8,000 fewer PlayStation 4 consoles in its first days on sale in Spain. Continue reading... T-Mobile adds more data to its unlimited plan before it starts throttling you
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
So far, 2017 has seen more changes to cellphone plans than the last five years before. In the space of a couple of weeks, all the big carriers suddenly started offering unlimited data plans for reasonable prices. AT&T even removed its ridiculous triple-play requirement for unlimited customers, which was generous. For T-Mobile, which started the unlimited data trend last year, it didn't seem like things could get much better. But the entry of Verizon and AT&T forced it to remove the last real restrictions on the data plan, meaning that you can use hotspot data or watch HD video. Continue reading... Apple’s iPhone 8 will likely feature an edgeless OLED display, but reports suggesting that the display might incorporate a curved design might be off the mark. According to fresh remarks from IHS Markit analyst Wayne Lam (via MacRumors), the iPhone 8’s display will essentially sport the same flat design as the iPhone 7. Continue reading... Street racing idiot gets exactly what all street racing idiots deserve
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

If you try to turn your local roadways into a makeshift raceway you're obviously a huge moron, but beyond that you're also endangering the lives of others. If you want to drive your car off the side of a cliff that's totally your business, but don't try to bring anyone else down with you. A group of idiots in Columbia recently learned just how dumb street racing is when one of their crew drove his Mercedes straight into a concrete wall, fulfilling his destiny but escaping with his life. Apple still destroys all other PC makers in one important way
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

It's been a lackluster few years for Apple's Mac lineup. The iconic MacBook Air has been put out to pasture, the new MacBook Pro distinctly underwhelmed creative types, and I can't even remember the last time anyone said anything about the Mac Pro. In the meantime, Chromebooks are taking off, and even Microsoft has started to do interesting things again. But hardware aside, there's still something that Apple does far better than competition: customer service. According to Laptop Mag's Tech Support Showdown list, Apple headily beats the competition for the quickest and best customer service of any major manufacturer. Continue reading... NASA just found a lost lunar probe hanging out around the Moon
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

NASA finding something orbiting around the moon that was created by intelligent life should be a huge announcement that sends shockwaves through the scientific community, right? Well NASA did exactly that, only the object they found wasn't built by some ancient alien species or race of reclusive Moon men; it was built by the Indian space program, who completely lost contact with their Chandrayaan-1 probe over seven years ago and had no way of locating exactly where it ended up. Needless to say, it makes the discovery slightly less Earth-shattering, but it's still pretty cool. Continue reading... Trending right now: Verizon is stealing Sprint’s customers with its…
