New iPhone 8 renders show off a more artsy take on Apple’s next-gen smartphone
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

Over the past few weeks, we've been inundated by a seemingly endless stream of iPhone 8 mockups and dummy units. While mockups of a pre-release iPhone should typically be taken with a grain of salt, there's a lot of evidence to suggest that the dummy units we've seen thus far are indeed accurate. Not only that, but data strings found buried in Apple's HomePod firmware have essentially confirmed what the iPhone 8's new form factor is going to look like. Continue reading... Evolution gave this ancient beast a weird face because it kept ramming into stuff
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Moschops capensis was a weird looking animal. When it roamed the Earth some 260 million years ago its goofy stance and wide body would have caught your eye from a distance, and that's even before you noticed its almost comical face. Scientists have been working hard to determine why its tiny brain was protected by such a thick, flat, elongated skull, and new research seems to point to the answer: Maschops capensis really, really loved slamming its head into stuff. ‘Destiny 2’ PC beta: Everything Bungie changed since the console beta
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
A few years ago, when Bungie rolled out the first public beta for Destiny, nobody really knew that the game was going to look like. Bungie packed the beta with a massive amount of content, including access to one of four open world areas that would be available in the retail release. For the Destiny 2 beta, the developer didn't have to prove anything -- the goal was just to make sure the game would run. But just because the Destiny 2 console beta was a technical test doesn't mean that Bungie isn't changing content and balancing combat as well. In fact, on Thursday, Bungie community manager DeeJ took to the Bungie blog to highlight some of the changes that are being mad…

Hubble snaps gorgeous photo of a pint-sized galaxy
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Size is entirely relative, so to say that the galaxy named NGC 5949 is "small" is a bit of a joke, especially once you've gotten an eyeful of this truly stunning snapshot taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The swirling mass of gas, stars, and planets is larger than anything you could really imagine, but when compared to other galaxies — including our own relatively small Milky Way — it's downright adorable. South Carolina warns citizens of ‘Lizard Man’ sightings during solar eclipse
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
The South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) is warning citizens in several of its counties to be vigilant of paranormal activity associated with the upcoming total solar eclipse. Considering that the eclipse is a space event, you might think the warning is simply an amusing alert to keep an eye out for UFOs, but that's really not the cast. SCEMD is being quite specific about its advice, and it's asking citizens to be wary of... Lizardmen. Continue reading... Installing Ikea’s Trådfri was a breeze. I just followed the handy instructions, and a few minutes later my home was slightly smarter. But as soon as I finished, I realized there’s one critical piece missing. Ikea’s intelligent home products were not compatible with Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Google’s Home. Thankfully, that all changes today. Continue reading... Retro typewriter keyboard is the MacBook antidote
by Guest FoxNews.com- 0 replies

Retro keyboards are becoming more popular and one startup has a promising design. Elretron's Penna keyboard appears to have legs, outweighing the competition, thanks to its stunning design that comes amid a retro feel. The keyboard’s appeal lies in its combination of old-time typewriter aesthetics with modern keyboard technology. And it promises to offer the opposite of the experience you get on Apple’s newest “Butterfly” MacBook keyboards, which have shallow key strokes to accommodate Apple’s thin designs. It’s official: Uber is in crisis
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

Literally hours after we published a (very long!) list of all the execs who have jumped ship from Uber this year, more bad news landed about Uber's management situation. Benchmark Capital, a venture capital firm that was an early investor in Uber and holds a seat on the board, has sued Travis Kalanick, Uber's founder and recently-ousted CEO. The suit, scooped by Axios, alleges breach of contract and fiduciary duty by Kalanick. Basically, Benchmark is accusing Kalanick of pulling strings to try and stack the board in his favor, and eventually orchestrate a triumphant return as Uber's CEO. Continue reading... Earnings season upon us and Snap Inc., formerly known as Snapchat, released its earnings report for the quarter that just ended. Suffice it to say, the recent June quarter was an important one for Snap Inc., especially as Facebook continues to steal features from Snapchat and implement them with great success. Indeed, Snap Inc. for some time has been actively exploring various ways to increase revenue, boost users, and diversify their business. To this point, recent rumors claim that the company may have recently acquired Zero Zero Robotics, a selfie-taking drone company. Continue reading... Samsung’s next big thing is just around the corner. The Galaxy Note 8 is said to ship with a built-in stylus and accompanying software tricks, a dual rear camera with new photo features and a display that does 3D Touch like the iPhone. It’s also a huge phone, and not everyone wants to carry a phablet around in their pocket. So if you’re looking to buy a brand new Android flagship, it might be time to revisit the Galaxy S8. Uber’s first employee is the latest high-profile exec to jump ship
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

As of right now, Uber is a $60 billion company with no CEO, no CFO, and no chief operating officer. Ryan Graves, Uber's first employee who has served as the company's senior vice president of global operations, has stepped down from his role. Uber has had no COO for years, which has left Graves to take on much of the workload that the C-suite exec would normally handle. In a letter to employees, Graves said "I'll be embracing another big change on my journey with Uber and will transition out of a full-time operating role to focus on my role as a Board Director." Graves was known to be one of former CEO Travis Kalanick's most loyal supporters, which may explain his move…

Whether you have a tiny little 32-inch TV with 720p resolution or a gigantic 75-inch 4K UHD TV, there’s one simple $15 accessory that will completely change the way you watch TV. Honestly, I don’t even remember what life was like before I got an EveShine Neon Accent LED Backlight Kit for my big-screen. While you watch TV, it casts a beautiful glow onto the wall behind your TV, easing the strain on your eyes in the process. More importantly, it looks friggin awesome. I leave mine on the white color, but it comes with a remote that lets you change …

A house-sized asteroid will come ‘damn close’ to Earth in October
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Asteroid TC4 is a name you're going to hear a lot of in the coming weeks, and its remarkably close flyby of Earth will be a historic event in more ways than one. Like many other groups, including NASA, the European Space Agency has been paying particularly close attention to TC4 as it approaches its October flyby date, and thanks to Chile's (very well-named) Very Large Telescope, the group now knows a bit more about exactly how close it's going to be when it waves hello to our little planet.
