The Walt Disney Company has been slapped with a lawsuit claiming that more than 40 of its smartphone apps are illegally spying on children. The class-action lawsuit alleges that Disney is violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The law, passed in 1998, was designed to protect the privacy of children online. This week, following a unanimous vote from the U.N. Security Council to impose strict new sanctions on North Korea, Kim Jong Un and the North Korean military responded by announcing that they are looking into the possibility of targeting US military bases in Guam with ballistic missile strikes. This news arrived hours after Trump declared that North Korea would be "met with fire and fury" were it to continue threatening the United States. Needless to say, it's been a rough week, but Stephen Colbert is doing everything he can to help us get through it without losing our minds. Continue reading... by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

Apple over the years has steadily expanded the number of color options for the iPhone. Whereas early iPhone models were only available in black and white, the more recent iPhone 7 is available in five different colors: rose gold, gold, silver, jet black, and black. With the upcoming iPhone 8, Apple will reportedly scale back the number of available color options, likely in the interest of streamlining production. According to a recent research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 8 will only be available in three colors: black, silver, and a brand new "copper gold." Continue reading... New iPhone 8 leak points to huge jump in video quality

Apple's HomePod firmware is the gift that keeps on giving. Since Apple inadvertently made the firmware available to the public more than a week ago, developers have combed through mountains of code and have unearthed a number of interesting details regarding Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 8. For as much as Apple does to keep upcoming product details under wraps, it's simultaneously embarrassing and comical that the most significant iPhone 8 leaks haven't come from murky sources within the supply chain, but from Apple itself. August’s insanely popular smart lock is even smarter when it’s discounted on Amazon
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
We can think of a dozen reasons why the August Smart Lock is one of the most popular products the category has ever seen. It’s ridiculously easy to install, with easy to follow instructions detailing a procedure that should take most people about 10 minutes. The August lock also works with your current deadbolt, so you don’t have to get new keys. Auto-lock ensures that your door locks behind you as you leave, and auto-unlock unlocks your door for you when you get home. You can even give house guests or workers temporary e-keys using the August app so they can access your home for a limited amount of time. All these features and more are a bargain at $230, but you won’t pa…

T-Mobile is selling a $125 smartphone with a fingerprint sensor
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
T-Mobile is getting into the smartphone game. The T-Mobile REVVL is the carrier's first own-brand smartphone in years, and on paper, it's a good deal. The device costs just $125, and for that, you get a 5.5-inch screen, unnamed quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, and even a fingerprint sensor. The specs are nearly identical to every other budget Android phone out there -- and for good reason, as the phone is likely made by ZTE or one of the other Chinses companies that pumps out smartphones for someone else to put their brand on. Elon Musk is predicting ridiculous Model 3 demand in the future
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

For as popular as Tesla's Model 3 already is, Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that demand for the company's mass market EV may increase dramatically in the near future. While speaking with investors during a conference call hosted by Goldman Sachs this week, Musk articulated that annual demand for the Model 3 could eventually surpass 700,000 units. As a point of reference, the cumulative number of Model 3 reservations currently checks in at more than 500,000, an impressive figure to say the least, “We anti-sell the Model 3,” Musk said just two months ago. “But our net reservations continue to climb week after week. No advertising, anti-selling, nothing to test drive, stil…

Throughout the year, most iPhone 8 reports said that Apple is launching three handsets this year, including the natural successors of last year’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and an iPhone flagship that will propose buyers features that were never available on an iPhone. Why Google can’t compete with what Apple is doing with ARKit
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
While everyone is understandably excited about the iPhone 8 and its edgeless OLED display, hardware won't be the only compelling new offering from Apple this year. At WWDC this year, Apple introduced ARKit, a new suite of tools and frameworks that allows developers to create absolutely mind boggling augmented reality experiences with relative ease. Ever since Apple rolled out the first beta of iOS 11, developers have been busy putting together a seemingly endless stream of ARKit powered demos, each one more impressive than the last. What makes Apple's AR play all the more compelling and strategic is that users won't need Apple's top of the line iPhone in order to enjoy…

T-Mobile isn’t messing around with making its network better
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies
T-Mobile, for all its cheeky promotions and positive speed tests, still has a coverage problem. Compared to AT&T and Verizon, T-Mobile's network mostly runs on higher-band spectrum that's bad at penertrating buildings or giving coverage over rural areas. To address the issue, T-Mobile spent $8 billion on new low-band spectrum earlier this year. The new 600MHz frequnecy that it bought is being freed up by moving analog TV stations onto different channels, a process that the FCC suggested would take about four years. But for T-Mobile, that's three years too long. Continue reading... Trending right now: Google’s Pixel has an awesome storage trick the iPhone …
