August is a big month for skywatchers in the US thanks to the highly anticipated total solar eclipse slated to occur on August 21st. A late Friday scoop from Bloomberg and its star Apple reporter, Mark Gurman, suggests that Apple is going to release a cellular version of the Apple Watch before the end of the year. The report -- which features the investigative work of three separate Bloomberg reporters, something that's rare for a tech rumor -- cites "people familiar with the matter" as saying Apple is "planning to release a version of its smartwatch later this year that can connect directly to cellular networks." Early on Friday, we learned that the fourth episode of the current Game of Thrones season leaked online. The leak turned out to be legitimate, and we all assumed it had to be the work of the same hackers behind the recent massive HBO cyber attack. On Monday, the script for the same episode and episodes of other HBO shows leaked online, while subsequent reports told us that as much as 1.5TB of data was stolen during the heist. Yesterday, we reported on a real-world trial that Verizon conducted in Florida, which used a mix of licensed and unlicensed spectrum to achieve gigabit speeds over existing LTE technology. Thanks to an RCR Wireless interview with Mike Haberman, Verizon's VP of network support, we now know that the same gigabit technology is going to be popping up on cell sites "all across the country." Haberman said that hardware upgrades would be happening over the next couple of months, although it's likely going to be a little longer than that until you see a difference on your smartphone. Following a massive security breach at HBO earlier this week, the fourth episode of Game of Thrones season 7 has leaked online in full. In a statement earlier this week, the network confirmed that it had been the victim of a hacking incident "which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information." Scripts of upcoming shows and full episodes of Ballers and Room 104 made their way online, with the hackers promising that more leaks would be "coming soon."
