Samsung is partnering with someone else to serve up immersive content on its phones. The plan to add the Galaxy S8 to the Daydream-ready family was put into motion at Google I/O 2017 in May. I really hope the iPhone 8 doesn’t have this hideous problem
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Remember that Essential Phone that Andy Rubin announced a few weeks ago? It’s supposed to be a high-end Android handset that will deliver a high-end Android experience, unlike anything we’ve seen so far. The phone has an all-screen design that matches this year’s smartphone design trend, but it does have one ugly trait: the front-facing camera bezel. Unfortunately, the design trend looks set to spread, as most of the iPhone 8 leaks we've seen so far have the same bezel. Well, it turns out that the design of the Essential (and, if we're unlucky, the next iPhone) comes with a hideous side-effect. Continue reading... Trending right now: Leaked photos show the iP…

Another Apple rival will reportedly help build the iPhone in 2018

Apple might compete with Samsung when it comes to selling smartphones, but the iPhone maker still depends on Samsung for supplies. In fact, Samsung is said to be the sole supplier of OLED displays for Apple's upcoming iPhone 8, but according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, another competitor could soon join the cause as Apple looks to boost production and diversify its supply chain. Impressively -- and perhaps somewhat surprisingly -- Tesla actually managed to begin early deliveries of its $35,000 car on time, a welcome change of pace given the delays that plagued both the Model S and the Model X. by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

The Galaxy Note 8 will be the first smartphone in the series to ship with a feature more interesting than what’s available on the Galaxy S model that preceded it, or the usual S Pen novelties each new Galaxy Note has to deliver. The phone will have a dual lens camera on the back, and a new leak reveals more details about the phone’s camera. Continue reading... Watch a stack of paper literally explode in a hydraulic press
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

If you were given access to an incredibly powerful 144-ton hydraulic press and could crush anything you could possibly dream of, a stack of paper probably wouldn't be at the top of your list. It doesn't seem like an interesting thing to crush, but paper does some very weird things when subjected to immense pressure, and as the highly popular YouTube stars of the Hydraulic Press Channel discovered, it can turn downright violent. That status bar on the Essential Phone is thick

Usually it’s a phone’s body we measure for thickness to judge. The Essential Phone, however, is making us question status bar thickness moving forward. No, the Essential Phone hasn’t been canceled. It’ll be released when the company finishes field testing on global networks. See, there’s been a bit of confusion surrounding Essential’s first consumer-ready device. NASA will get to test its planetary defense system way sooner than we thought
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

NASA is extremely interested in building a true astroid defense network that could spring into action as soon as a threat is detected, destroying or diverting a space rock before it can do any serious damage here on Earth. The actual development of a protection system is still in its infancy — with many proposed plans for dealing with troublesome astroids but no real-world testing to back any of them — but that won't stop NASA from testing its detection capabilities during an upcoming near-earth astroid flyby in October. Here's how it's going to work. Continue reading... Trending right now: Leaked photos show the iPhone 8 of our nightmares, and it better be fake…

Galaxy Note 8 leaks have been dominating the headlines of tech blogs for months now. We've seen renders, cases, release windows and rumored specs sheets, but it's easy to forget that the Note 8 likely won't be the only other phone Samsung releases in the second half of the year. Along with the S8 Active, Samsung is also reportedly working on two smart flip phones, both of which could launch in 2017. We highlighted the Samsung flip phone leaks last month, but over the weekend (via Slashleaks), photos of the SM-G9298 powered up and out in the wild appeared online for the very first time. Why we’re still waiting for the most important iPhone leak of all
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Apple is expected to launch three new iPhone models this fall, which we keep calling iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and iPhone 8. The latter is the most exciting of the three, and it’s also the most likely of them not to be called iPhone 8. There are various name versions that we’ve heard, including iPhone Pro or iPhone X, but they’re yet to be confirmed. Apple, meanwhile, did leak a bunch of things about the next-gen iPhones, but it hasn’t mentioned their names yet. And it’s likely that your usual suspects won’t deliver it until Apple actually launches it. Continue reading... Huge Apple leak confirms iPhone 8 design
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

With each new iPhone 8 leak that we've seen so far, it becomes increasingly obvious that the hottest iPhone that Apple will launch this year will also feature a design unlike anything we've seen on previous models. The iPhone 8 will not have a physical home button and its bezels will be smaller than ever. CAD drawings, 3D renders, and protective case designs have shown the same purported iPhone 8 design over and over. Well, it looks all the rumors are true, and we have Apple to thank for the biggest iPhone 8 leak to date. Continue reading... Rare leak comes directly from Apple, revealing key iPhone 8 features
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Unlike any iPhone before it, the iPhone 8 will feature several “signature” features, the kind of features that will be then available in more iOS products down the line. The list includes a bezel-less design with no home button, OLED display technology, wireless charging, and a 3D facial recognition mechanism more sophisticated than anything we've seen on other mobile devices. In one swoop, Apple managed to confirm the phone’s design as well as the "Face ID" unlock feature. Mind you, we're calling it Face ID because it makes sense, not because Apple coined this marketing term just yet. Continue reading... Trending right now: Huge Apple leak confirms iPhone 8 des…

Astronomers around the world continue to spot new planets outside of our Solar System on a regular basis, and some of those worlds look like they just might be good candidates for life, but spotting moons that aren't in our immediate neighborhood is a far more difficult challenge. Now, researchers led by David Kipping of Columbia University think they might be the first to actually confirm the presence of a moon in a distant planetary system — an "exomoon" — and it's an extremely exciting discovery.
