Apple refuses to confirm Trump’s wild claims
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

We’re used to seeing Donald Trump make all sorts of wild statements, and on Tuesday he delivered. Again. He said in an interview that Apple CEO Tim Cook called him to tell him that Apple is going forward with plans to make three “big, big, big” plans. Before you get excited about Apple bringing iPhone manufacturing jobs to the States, you should remember who made these claims. And that Apple is yet to comment on the matter. Continue reading... by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies

Wonder Woman is definitely one movie that you simply have to see this year, and you still have time to catch it in a theater near you if you haven’t watched it yet. It’s by far the best movie in the DC Comics universe, and the kind of movie that deserves a sequel. Luckily for superhero movie fans, Warner Bros. confirmed that part two is in the works, and we now have a firm release for Wonder Woman 2. Continue reading... This $59 home security camera has one of the $300 Nest Cam IQ’s best features
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

The brand new Nest Cam IQ is a streaming home security camera that has a very cool new feature. Using facial recognition, the camera can spot a person in your home and then follow him or her around by locking in on the face. Then it also has an awesome smart zoom feature thanks to its 4K sensor, so it can zoom in for a crystal clear look at the person it’s tracking. The significantly more affordable Lynx Indoor 1080P Wifi Home Security Camera doesn’t have a smart zoom feature or 4K resolution, but it does offer very cool facial recognition features that can recognize your family and then alert you when someone else enters your home. by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

Nintendo on Tuesday morning released its financial results for the fiscal first quarter, which ended in June. As expected, strong Switch console and game sales helped the company record an operating profit of 16.21 billion yen ($145 million), a huge swing from the 5.13 billion yen loss Nintendo posted in the year-ago quarter. The company also confirmed that it sold 1.97 million Switch consoles during the last quarter, pushing the cumulative total of Switch sales to date up to 4.7 million units. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching and Nintendo promising on multiple occasions to ramp up Switch production, that figure should ascend quickly. Nintendo maintained …

To call the past few days in the world of Pokemon Go chaotic would be an understatement. Pokemon Go Fest was an unmitigated disaster, as players were unable to connect to the game and long lines formed just to leave the event. At the same time, Legendary Pokemon were finally introduced, appearing in the form of Legendary Raid Bosses that have to be defeated before they can be caught. Continue reading... Science says money does buy happiness, but not in the way you think
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

You've probably heard it a million times, but the old adage that "money can't buy happiness" might actually be completely false. A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences suggests that money really can make you happy, but not by buying yourself gifts or fancy possessions. As it turns out, the easiest way to turn your hard-earned cash into warm and fuzzy feelings is to pay someone else to do something that you normally do yourself. Continue reading... Augmented reality is one of the main features of iOS 11, Apple confirmed at its WWDC event last month. The iPhone maker already released the tools developers need to come up with various AR apps that will work on a variety of supported devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and we already saw a bunch of impressive demos of ARKit apps. A short video shows us what it’ll be possible for games when AR is included, and the iPhone 8 might offer us a gaming experience that’ll have no rivals. Continue reading... Volkswagen pleads guilty to diesel cheating, as if it had a choice
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

It's been nearly two years since news of Volkswagen's diesel emissions cheating first broke, and the months since have been filled with recalls, buybacks, and lots and lots of money flying out of the company's bank account and into the pockets of affected customers. But despite the company's swift and appropriate response to being caught red-handed, there's still the little matter of answering for the laws that were broken. Today, the US Justice Department revealed that Volkswagen won't push back against the charges it's been hit with, and has agreed to plead guilty to a trio of criminal charges. Continue reading... This massive fish species was somehow only just discovered
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Researchers regularly remind us that the world's oceans are still hiding some truly remarkable secrets, but when we imagine new species of ocean life it's usually tucked away in the crushing depths, or so tiny that we somehow didn't notice it up until now. An all-new species of ocean sunfish was just discovered that throws those expectations completely out of the window, weighing in at over two tons and making regular trips near the surface in order to keep warm, but it's a remarkable find nonetheless. Putting a computer completely in charge of any type of vehicle is a concept that still doesn't sit well with a lot of people. That's totally understandable, especially with so many questions of reliability and safety still unanswered, but if the idea of a driverless car cruising the streets of your fair city gives you anxiety, you should probably just stop reading this story right now. For the brave souls still here, allow me to introduce you to a colossal seafaring beast that will cruise along the coast of Norway, weighing as much as 4,500 metric tons, and completing its regular journeys without a single crew member. It's called the Yara Birkeland, and it could be the fu…

MetroPCS just gave you another great reason to lose your contract
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

There's fewer and fewer reasons for anyone to tie themselves to a postpaid monthly cell contract. It used to be that postpaid customers got all the good perks, better pricing, and higher-tier plans, but that just isn't true any more. This week's example: MetroPCS, T-Mobile's prepaid arm, will roll out spam call identification and blocking services that T-Mobile currently offers to its postpaid customers. The features -- which, by the way, are identical to anti-spam features Verizon charges $3 for -- will be free for all MetroPCS customers starting tomorrow. Continue reading... New nanomaterial promises batteries that charge in seconds
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Despite often annoying us with shorter-than-ideal lifespans and the occasional explosion, modern rechargeable batteries are actually quite remarkable, especially when you consider the power they're able to hold in very small footprints. That said, they could always be better, and while capacity is always a hot topic for those building the batteries of tomorrow, researchers at Drexel's College of Engineering believe they've discovered a way to make modern batteries a whole lot better by reducing recharge times to mere seconds.
