by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

As if we needed any more proof that the Galaxy S8 Active would be one of Samsung's next releases, the company itself just revealed the phone's existence. Roland Quandt stumbled upon the phone's name on Samsung Knox on Monday morning, bearing the model number G892A. Curious about what model number accompanied the Galaxy S7 Active, released last year around this time? G891A. Continue reading... These are the states that actually care about internet companies screwing you over
by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

The FCC is currently in the middle of a fight between internet providers and state regulators over ads for internet service. In short, the telecoms industry wants to use an FCC rule about internet speeds claimed in adverts -- namely that advertising a "maximum" speed that isn't really achievable isn't false advertising -- to protect itself from lawsuits from individual US states. Two industry groups have already filed a petition with the FCC to this effect. As you'd expect, states aren't wild about giving up consumer protection powers to a decidedly non-consumer-friendly FCC, and 35 states have banded together to lobby the FCC to ignore the industry petition. The list …

With one day to go until one of the most exciting smartphones of the summer becomes official, there’s not much that we don’t know about it. And thanks to a new video that looks at OnePlus’s reasoning for designing the OnePlus 5, we now know why the handset looks like the iPhone 7 Plus but not the iPhone 8. We also know that it’s going to be more expensive than last year’s OnePlus flagships. Continue reading... Consider all the things that a phone offers. What’s the most important to you? Maybe it’s the display, or maybe it’s the battery life. But those areas can be very similar across a number of phones. The camera, however, differs greatly. Companies use different components and the software, too, is unique. Apple’s new iPad Pro is the innovation missing in the Android ecosystem
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

WWDC is Apple’s annual developer conference, which is fairly similar to Google I/O that we cover every year. It’s a multi-day event with one big keynote where Apple goes over tons of developer-related material and showcases upcoming software and changes, and very occasionally we get to see new hardware, too. by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Deep-sea researchers working off the coast of Australia continue to find some pretty stunning examples of never-before-seen ocean life. Late last month, the group showed one of their more impressive catches — a "faceless" fish which has a small mouth on the bottom of its body but no facial features of any kind — and the team has caught a number of new oddities since then, including what appears to be a... well, let's just take a look. Nearly a year after its introduction, the Galaxy Note 7 is preparing for a triumphant return. This time around, the phone will sport a non-exploding battery, and it’ll be more gentle to your wallet. That said, a brand new leak brings us a powerful reminder of why you should just skip the Note 7 and wait for the Note 8 instead. Continue reading... The Surface Laptop got iFixit’s lowest possible reparability score
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Microsoft's Surface Laptop has gotten plenty of attention since its reveal early last month. The device is Microsoft's first true laptop in the Surface line, and with its fabric-covered keyboard, and streamlined Windows 10 S installed, it's most certainly an acquired taste. As always, repairability is an important aspect to consider when dropping a thousand bucks on a piece of electronics, so we turn to iFixit's brand new teardown video to get an idea of just where it stands. The results are truly abysmal. Continue reading... Trending right now: An Apple supplier may have just leaked iPhone 8 launch timing Look what researchers found in the ocean off Australia …

If you're a fan of video games and you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, you know that the best Prime perk has nothing to do with free shipping or unlimited photo storage. But guess what, Amazon is still offering 20% off ARMS for the Nintendo Switch even though the game launched on Friday! Hurry up and grab a copy before it's too late. It’s the best-selling mesh networking solution on Amazon, and people absolutely love it. It’s also discounted right now on Amazon at its lowest price of 2017, which just so happens to be within $1 of the system's all-time low during Black Friday last year. With WWDC now long behind us, the next big event on Apple's schedule is the introduction of the highly anticipated iPhone 8. If history is any indication, Apple's iPhone 8 unveiling will take place sometime in September with a massive launch set to take place shortly thereafter. This year, Apple will reportedly introduce three new iPhone models; an iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and the iPhone 8. Nonetheless, it goes without saying that the iPhone 8 will be the star of the show. Over the last few weeks and months, we've seen a number of conflicting reports surrounding the iPhone 8's final design. While some reports have suggested that the iPhone 8's Touch ID sensor will be…

Video: This iOS 11 mockup running on the iPhone 8 is blowing my mind
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies

A few months ago, designer Vianney le Masne put together an absolutely stunning concept video depicting what Dark Mode on iOS 11 might look like. While iOS 11 mockups are certainly a dime a dozen these days, Masne's effort was so elegant and thoughtfully designed that it easily stood out from the rest of the pack. Of course, Apple at WWDC did not introduce an official Dark Mode option for iOS 11, though a "Smart Invert Colors" toggle is certainly a step in the right direction. That notwithstanding, Masne recently put together an intriguing collection of photos which help illustrate what iOS 11 may look like on Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 8. Though we already have…

by Guest Chris Mills- 0 replies

A report from ZDNet cites sources inside the British National Cyber Security Centre, who claim that North Korea was behind the recent WannaCry ransomware attack that hit millions of users worldwide. The ransomware software spread like wildfire between infected Windows machines, and hit the UK particularly hard. A number of hospitals and regional health services were taken offline by the attack, and some officials have suggested that the attack was directly responsible for a number of deaths as a result. This smartphone controlled paper airplane is so much more fun than a drone

Drones? Pfffff, quadcopters are old news. They’re great if you want to spend thousands of dollars on a professional-grade model that you use for high-resolution aerial video recording or something. But if you’re just looking to have some fun, we’ve got a great alternative to your run-of-the-mill drones that you’ll definitely want to check out. The PowerUp 3.0 Smartphone Controlled Paper Airplane is exactly what it sounds like, a motor-powered paper airplane that you can actually fly around and control with your phone! It’s a ton of fun, and it can fly for up to 10 minutes per charge, which is comparable to similarly priced quadcopters. Here are some key details from th…
