Features on iOS we want to see on Android
by Guest Brad Ward- 0 replies

Google’s Android has a lot of great phones in the ecosystem, as well as plenty of excellent features from phone-to-phone; however, there are a handful of features that I, and many others, would no doubt like to see become official Android features. This isn’t speaking in terms of one OS is better than the other, […] Come comment on this article: Features on iOS we want to see on Android Visit TalkAndroid News via TalkAndroid

Apple may introduce new Siri speaker and edgeless 10.5-inch iPad Pro at WWDC
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
With rumors regarding some new Apple hardware swirling overhead, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo put out a new research note reaffirming his belief that Apple will introduce a new piece of Siri-based hardware next month at WWDC. As for the design, Kuo maintains that the device will offer a premium auditory experience and will include a "touch panel", a design tidbit that Apple executive Phil Schiller seemingly suggested was in the works during an interview last week. It remains unclear, though, if said "touch panel" will be a full-fledged display a'la the Amazon Echo Show or if it will be more minimalistic. Price wise, Kuo anticipates that Apple's upcoming Siri speake…

The first trip to Mars will include the longest layover ever
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
Nobody likes layovers, but the first astronauts heading to Mars will get to experience one of the longest such experiences of their lives. They’ll have to spend one year going around the moon, which will probably be a very annoying wait for the first people heading to the red planet. It’s not all bad news, however, as they won’t just wait for time to pass by. NASA actually wants to make sure that the round trip to Mars, a 1,000-day endeavor, is carefully planned during the time. AirPods have drop-in charging, and the AirPods case can too with this $14 accessory
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies

Apple’s new AirPods are cool for so many reasons. The fact that they’re truly wireless is the most obvious one, but there’s an awesome feature of the AirPods’ design that most people don’t ever think about. The AirPods don’t feature wireless charging, but they do support drop-in charging thanks to the exposed charging contacts at the bottom of each AirPod stem. It’s a very smart design, and you can actually do something similar with the AirPods case itself. Instead of fumbling with a Lightning cable, pick up a Spigen Compact Airpods Stand, which lets you simply place your AirPods case on top to charge it up. Here are some highlights from the product page: Convenien…

This online tool lets you check if your iPhone is stolen
by Guest Chris Smith- 0 replies
The best way to avoid buying a stolen iPhone is getting it from Apple, an electronics store, or a carrier. But because the iPhone comes with a rather high price tag, some people choose to purchase second-hand iPhone. These are still expensive, but the price is lower than what you’d pay in stores. In many cases, you can score a great iPhone deal, if you know what to look for. But there’s always the risk that seller stole the phone and it’s now looking to flip it. Thankfully, there’s now a simple service that tells you instantly whether the iPhone you want to buy or any other smartphone, has been stolen. Continue reading... Introducing the most absurd virtual reality headset of them all
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies
Virtual reality tech has endured some serious growing pains already, and still hasn't fully reached mainstream acceptance among consumers. Plenty of people still see VR headsets as too complicated, clunky, and simply not worth the investment or hassle. A new VR headset concept is making its big debut at the ACM CHI 2017 event and, well, it's probably not going to help matters. It's called FaceDisplay, and it might be the most ridiculous VR headset ever conceived. Continue reading... Multiple retailers are now selling the U.S. unlocked model of LG’s 2017 flagship. The G6 arrived in the United States last month with limited availability. Rather than following an industry trend, LG decided to let major carriers be the exclusive sellers of the phone. HTC has been quietly hyping up the ability to squeeze the sides of its upcoming flagship device, but they haven’t really told us what that does. 360-degree video capture was teased as a function just a few days ago, but otherwise, we don’t know anything about it. Today is the last day you can get the Amazon Echo at its lowest price of 2017
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
Amazon is now a key player in the consumer electronics industry, with products spanning eBook readers, tablets, set-top boxes, and of course, smart speakers. That last category is the latest one that Amazon is solely responsible for popularizing, and the smart speaker that started it all is on sale right now at its lowest price of the year so far. The bad news is that the Amazon Echo discount you can enjoy right now is part of a Mother's Day sale, and tomorrow is Mother's Day 2017. That means today is your last day to take advantage of this special deal, because the price goes back up to $180 beginning tomorrow. Here's what you need to know, from Amazon's Echo page: …

How a security researcher miraculously and accidentally killed the ‘WannaCry’ ransomware
by Guest Yoni Heisler- 0 replies
The massive ransomware hack targeting Windows machines across the globe was stopped dead in its tracks by a security expert who inadvertently activated a "kill switch" built into the malware's code. The ransomware, dubbed "WannaCry", made headlines on Friday after infecting computers in nearly 100 countries across the world, with Russia and England reportedly seeing the highest number of infections. The ransomware effectively locks users out of their machines, encrypts their files, and instructs them to send $300 worth of Bitcoin in order to reclaim them. The ransomware also states that the $300 payout will increase if a prompt payment isn't made. Continue reading... …

Scientists finally have a decent guess as to why Earth exists
by Guest Mike Wehner- 0 replies

Earth is a pretty nifty place. I mean, I've spent my entire life here and I'm guessing you have, too, and there's plenty to see and do, but why is it here at all? For a long time, researchers have tried to answer that question with varying degrees of success, but a new theory of how Earth formed is gaining traction, and it might be the explanation we've been looking for. MacMall’s new sale slashes up to 30% off everything you can think of… except Macs
by Guest Maren Estrada- 0 replies
The name "MacMall" obviously hearkens back to the retailer's origins, when it primarily sold... you guessed it... Macs. Apple computers and other Apple products are still a core part of the company's business, of course, and you'll always find prices on Apple gear that are lower than what you would pay even if you buy directly from Apple. But MacMall has grown a lot in the past few years, and the company's weekend-long sale on new arrivals is a perfect reminder of the wide range of products MacMall now sells. This weekend only, MacMall is slashing prices up to 30% on a wide range of new arrivals. From Chromebooks and Windows laptops to desktops, monitors, projectors, e…

Huawei wants to dethrone the Galaxy Note 7 with exploding wall chargers

Phones, accessories, and pretty much all electronics ever are bound to have issues, however small.
