by Guest Jack Holt- 0 replies

LG is rumored to working on a homemade SoC that is based on the ARM architecture. Odin, as it’s being called, is rumored to come with four 2.2 GHz Cortex-A15s and four Cortex-A7s clocked at 1.7GHz. They will use a 28nm manufacturing process. Rumors started back in the original Optimus G days but didn’t even make it into the G, G2, or G Pad 8.3. Even though it’s rumored to enter mass production soon, the SoC probably won’t be in the G3 either. LG looks to be having issues with the final design. It wanted to internalize the development and didn’t want to base the new SoC on Qualcomm Snapdragon processing that it was going to do initially. It’s rumored that LG wants to…

T-Mobile is in the middle of a three day onslaught of big announcements that are likely to stir the pot. They are so good at it. Yesterday brought the Simple Starter Plan, which is perfect for those new to smartphones. Today, day 2, brings something entirely different….Operation Tablet Freedom. This program aims at getting you a tablet that goes “beyond the Wi-Fi zone.” Traditionally, tablets with cellular connectivity are a lot more money than Wi-Fi-only versions, plus you have the added monthly cost for data. T-Mobile is eliminating both with Operation Tablet Freedom. The first thing they are doing is reducing the cost of cellular enabled (specifically LTE) tabl…

by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies

If you are in possession of any old cell phones, you know how difficult it can be to find a proper way to dispose of them. Certain electronics retailers will accept donated devices, a family member might need a loaner and it never hurts to have a spare, but once a phone, or any other electronic device for that matter, has reached the end of its life, it could end up sitting in a dump for decades without any signs of decomposition. Heartbleed is one of the most widespread vulnerabilities we have seen in recent years — it impacted an estimated 66% of the entire Internet at the time of its discovery. The bug affects OpenSSL, which is a popular security protocol used to encrypt sensitive data sent to and from websites. Major sites such as Yahoo, Flickr and Imgur are among the sites that were affected by Heartbleed, potentially exposing users' passwords and other data to hackers. While many have patched the bug and others continue to do so, it will be months or even years before every site addresses the issue. In the meantime, a simple free Chrome browser plugin will alert users when they visit a web…

Is North Carolina about to become a major battleground in the fight to bring 1Gbps Internet service to fiber-hungry Americans? AT&T on Thursday announced that it's in "advanced discussions with the North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) to deliver AT&T U-verse with GigaPower" to six cities in North Carolina: Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh and Winston-Salem. For those of you who don't recall, Google said earlier this year that it's also considering expanding its Google Fiber network to the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area in North Carolina, which means that lucky residents in those cities could conceivably have a choice between two different I…

Billittier Jr. dumped his fiancee with a terse text message, breaking off the engagement. Apparently trying to calm down the situation, he then sent a fateful text: "Plus you get a $50,000 parting ring. Enough for a down payment on a house." by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
- 82 views
The upcoming LG G3 has had a few leaks, but really nothing compared to some other devices. Despite this, a screenshot of the device allegedly leaked today, showing off a flatter design and overall UI. So far we know that the device will have a 5.5 inch qHD display, will be water resistant and dust-proof. A few other speculations are out there, but nothing really solid. This new leak adds new information to the growing list, and shows off what is supposed to be LG‘s new enhanced UI. The flat design follows the trend that’s being set by Apple and Samsung, and it will be interesting to see what other changes are made to the design. Source: LGG3Kopen Via: PhoneArena …

Apple is planning a major iTunes overhaul to stop it from getting crushed by Pandora
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
Back in the days when MP3s were all the rage, Apple's iTunes Store was the go-to place to pick up music for your iPod. But now that streaming services such as Pandora and Spotify have made it cheaper than ever to just stream music to our devices, people have stopped shelling out money for MP3s. This is a problem for Apple, which has seen digital music sales steadily decline even after it launched its iTunes Radio streaming service last year in an effort to get more people to buy music they like. Berlin-based developer Diego Araos was able to connect an Oculus Rift headset to a Parrot AR drone and actually control it by simply moving his head. The whole thing was recorded and posted , where interested users can check out the experience of flying a drone using the Oculus virtual reality gear. According to the developer, the whole project is “really fun,” and most importantly, the latency is “very low.” Parrot AR owners that want to try to fly a drone using Oculus Rift – assuming they have access to the headset – can get the source code needed to make it happen from GitHub, as Araos is sharing his project. by Guest Zach Epstein- 0 replies

Apple's iMac computer lineup is gorgeous, sleek and powerful, but the models that make up the iMac family are very pricey. The MacBook Air lineup is thin, well-designed and quite capable, but there is no ultra-high resolution option like there is in the MacBook Pro family. According to a new report from an extremely reliable source, Apple is righting both of those wrongs in 2014. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Dropbox releases Mailbox onto Google Play
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
Not too long ago, Dropbox acquired Mailbox, an app designed for iOS devices. Of course, Dropbox is pretty friendly on all platforms, so it was pretty obvious that they were eventually going to look at bringing the app to Android at some point in the future. Today, that finally happened. The app currently only works with Gmail (and iCloud, if you happen to have any iOS devices) but it arguably manages Gmail better than Google’s own client. The interface is extremely clean and flat, and uses swiping gestures to manage emails. Swipe to the right and you’ll either mark a message as read or delete it, and swiping it left either saves the email for later or archives it. T…
