by Guest Alihassan Mahdi- 0 replies

According to a new rumor, Google Now will grasp events posted on other Google apps such as Gmail and Hangouts and then ask if you’d like the event to be added to your calendar. The information will be clearly displayed to the user as to where the event was taken from and if the user would like to edit the event prior to adding it to the calendar such that when a recipient tells you about a time and location, Google will take that information and allow you to edit it beforehand. The image at the top of the article is a dummy interface of this rumored feature. A few strings from the Search APK support this rumored feature. <string name=”inferred_event_q…

Apple is apparently considering launching an iTunes store for Android to combat declining music sales, according to a report from Billboard. The same report also says that Apple executives are in talks with record label executives about launching an on-demand music streaming service. Launching an on-demand service could make iTunes much more similar to platforms like Spotify. Currently the iTunes Store is available on OS X and iOS, as well as Microsoft’s Windows. In fact, Steve Jobs was asked about bringing iTunes to Android back in 2011. Hit the break to see what he had to say: “We thought about whether we should do a music client for Android. Video: Assassin’s Creed Unity officially revealed in teaser trailer
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
We got an early glimpse of the next Assassin's Creed courtesy of Kotaku earlier this week, and now Ubisoft has responded with an official teaser trailer of its own. It looks like the new generation game will be called Assassin's Creed Unity, as the leak suggested, and will be set in a ridiculously good looking digital recreation of France. Ubisoft has been working on Unity for over three years, and although the team hadn't planned on revealing footage this early in development, the leaked images apparently forced their hand. It might still be in alpha, but if this is truly in-game footage, we're in store for one stunning Assassin's Creed game on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC l…

In an extensive post, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings called for “strong net neutrality,” as opposed to the “weak net neutrality” that currently exists, and which allows ISPs to theoretically – if not actually – bully Internet businesses into paying fees in order for consumers to be able to enjoy their services at better speeds. by Guest Jeff Causey- 0 replies

Samsung has indicated in the past that it was ramping up production of larger AMOLED displays to be used in tablet devices. We are starting to see the results of that appearing in places like the GFXBench benchmark site. Earlier this week an 8.4-inch Samsung tablet equipped with an AMOLED screen running 2560 x 1600 resolution was spotted. Now, a second device with an AMOLED display running at the same 2560 x 1600 resolution has been spotted, but with a larger 10.5-inch screen. Apparently going by model number SM-T800 or SM-T805, depending on whether the device is WiFi only or LTE capable respectively, the new device is powered by a Samsung Exynos 5420 octa-core process…

Sprint to close 55 stores and lay off 330 employees
by Guest Christian de Looper- 0 replies
At the start of the year Sprint warned that the company was going to have to make some big changes in order to cut costs. Well today we learned exactly how they’re going to do that. Today the company told CNet that they’re going to close 55 stores, up to 150 service centers, and lay off up to 330 employees. The stores that are going to be closed down are the “worst performing” ones, meaning they weren’t really helping the company anyway, and actually could have been costing the company more than they were making. Those that will be losing their jobs will be primarily tech consultants, which may or may not affect the companies customer service standards. Source: Tech…

by Guest Robert Nazarian- 0 replies

As promised, Google is sending out Project Tango prototypes to developers as we speak. In fact one developer, Omar Soubra, already posted some pictures of the device along with videos. Being involved with 3D scanners in the past, Omar says that Project Tango “is a bit like magic.” Google is shipping the Tango prototype in a white cardboard box, along with a USB 3.0 cable, USB 2.0 cable, 2 chargers, and a quick-start instruction guide. The phone itself has both a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port for whatever reason. Remember, you can usually plug a USB 2.0 cable into one side of a USB 3.0 port. Interestingly enough, Project Tango already has another name….Project…

Lenovo spends $100 million on 3G and 4G technology patents to be used in new markets
by Guest Justin Herrick- 0 replies

Being that Lenovo is becoming a larger player in the mobile industry, it only makes sense that they acquire additional patents. While continuing to receive a license for Google’s patents, Lenovo has purchased 3G and 4G technology patents from Unwired Planet. The cost? A respectable $100 million. For that price, Lenovo is getting twenty-one families of patents that will allow the company to enter new markets. The stupidest thing anyone has said about Apple in a long time

Sometimes you just have to stop for a moment an breathe it all in... We recently lifted a longtime ban on an awful Apple analyst to share with readers one of the most ridiculous explanations imaginable for Apple's iPhone 5c flop. The ban was reinstated shortly thereafter. Now, clearly fighting for a spot on our black list, Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdry has managed to one-up Mean Gene with what could be the stupidest thing anyone has said about Apple so far this year. Several websites have chronicled the differences between Xbox One games and PlayStation 4 games, exhibiting a noticeable dip in visual quality on Microsoft's console. This divide shouldn't last forever though, as Xbox director of development Boyd Multerer tells Total Xbox. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

Placed is a new $2.99 iOS 7 application that aims to help users automate some of their various activities while at home with help of Bluetooth LE-based iBeacons. By placing iBeacons inside the house, an iPhone could automatically pick up a signal when in their proximity and automatically launch an appropriate application the user may want to access. Placed could trigger a remote app when the user is near an Apple TV, a timer app when a user is in the kitchen or a weather app when he or she is next to a closet, for example. Continue reading... Of course enthusiastic gamers continue to "flame" the PS4 if they opt to buy an Xbox One, and vice versa, but gamers discussing their own experiences have showered both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One with praise. Expert reviews have found some issues on both sides of the fence, however, and one recent piece on Forbes draws attention to what it calls a pretty huge flaw with the latest Xbox. Continue reading... Microsoft may be a long way from slashing prices on its newest console, but Walmart seems ready to offer buyers a much better Xbox One price. In fact, the retailer is selling the Xbox One Titanfall bundle online for just $449.99, or $50 off its regular price. For that price, users get both the console and the incredibly popular game, which retails separately for $59.99, in effect slashing the Xbox One's price even lower than Sony’s PlayStation 4, which retails for $399.99 without any games. Best Buy is also offering the same deal right now. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report
