Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile versions of Galaxy S 5 pass through FCC
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

Unlike many other manufacturers, Samsung managed to keep their Galaxy S 5 out of the FCC approval process until after the official announcement and unveiling, so these new FCC filings aren’t really surprising in any way. Still, it had to happen sooner or later, and now we have concrete evidence that there will be three different models of the S 5 to hit Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile this year, with the model numbers SM-G900V, SM-G900A, and SM-G900T, respectively. The Verizon variant looks like it’ll sport LTE bands 4 and 13 along with GSM bands 850 and 1900 for global roaming. The AT&T and T-Mobile versions will run on LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 17, which is typic…

A functional, fashionable smartwatch concept puts Samsung to shame
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
Although Samsung is making strides in the wearable market, the new Gear models are still sitting uncomfortably on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to form and function. The Gear 2 and Gear Neo watches are sleeker than the Galaxy Gear, but they haven't completely shed their bulky, boxy exteriors quite yet. The Gear Fit is much more practical and discreet, but lacks the functionality of its larger counterparts. What we need is a middle ground, and that's exactly what Gábor Balogh's concept design is hoping to bring to the table. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies

We’re getting a better look at Oppo’s anticipated Find 7 phone, including the full profile of the device. It looks extremely sleek and slim enough to be an excellent follow-up to the Find 5, although there’s no confirmation in the press render about whether or not the device will actually sport a 50 megapixel camera. Design aside, the Find 7 will have a 5.5 inch 2k screen, a Snapdragon CPU and a fantastic 4,000 mAh battery on board. We’ll know for certain whether the 50 megapixel camera makes it into the final device when Oppo officially announced it later this month. source: Arctablet via: Phone Arena Come comment on this article: More images of Oppo …

T-Mobile Simple Choice plans updated with double-data offerings and $80 unlimited tier
by Guest Jared Peters- 0 replies
T-Mobile is changing their Simple Choice plans for consumers, and in most cases, it’s looking like it’ll shape up to be a positive change. Originally, these Simple Choice plans had three tiers at $50, $60, and $70 offering 500 MB, 2.5 GB, and unlimited data, respectively. These new plans add in a fourth tier and alter some of the data allotments. Now customers can select either a $50, $60, $70, or $80 plan, and those plans will net them 1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, or unlimited data, respectively. Unfortunately, this means the unlimited tier is getting slightly more expensive. Before, $70 a month allowed a user unlimited data, while now new customers will have to pay $80 a mon…

Yahoo has become the graveyard for once-promising startups
by Guest Jacob Siegal- 0 replies
Yahoo's growth appears to be in some way dependent on the widespread acquisition and subsequent annihilation of some of the Internet's most promising startups, and no one can figure out why. ReadWrite reports that since Marissa Mayer took over in July 2012, 31 of 38 startup companies acquired by the search giant have had their services shut down, often to the detriment of users who had begun incorporating those services into their daily lives. Vizify, a data visualization company and recent acquisition of Yahoo, immediately notified users that all of its products and services will cease to exist in the near future once the deal was finalized. $100 million worth of ads are headed to your Instagram feed
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
You may not notice a lot of ads in your Instagram feed on a regular basis but that might be about to change. Unnamed sources tell Ad Age that Instagram has reached an advertising deal with ad agency Omnicom that will be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million. For anyone keeping track, this deal alone would account for 10% of the $1 billion that Facebook paid to acquire Instagram back in 2012. In other words, it won't take long at all for Facebook to recoup its investment in Instagram if it signs a few more deals like the one Ad Age says it's signed with Omnicom. To go against the many music-centric applications available, MTV has finally entered the arena. With MTV Artists, users can truly immerse themselves with their favorite artists in different ways. MTV has a massive catalog of performance photos, music videos (yes, they still have those), and songs to be explored. A comprehensive list of tour dates is available for artists and buying tickets can even be done from within MTV Artists, too. Like Google Sound Search or Shazam, users can use Sound ID with their smartphones to listen to a song and identify it. With MTV Artists, you can also do a lyrical search. Apps designed to help users stream content to their Chromecast devices continue to update on a fast pace and AllCast has been no exception. The latest update adds support for DLNA servers. Unlike some other apps that force content to be streamed via an Android devices, Koushik Dutta’s latest update enables content on a DLNA server to be delivered straight to the Chromecast device. If you already have AllCast or have been watching it, you may note that it has a new icon as well. This change comes after the app went through a couple versions based on the Chromecast icon. New patent application suggests Samsung might be working on a new device unlocking feature
by Guest Alihassan Mahdi- 0 replies
According to a new recent patent application with USPTO, Samsung might be working on a new feature related to device unlocking. The patent application suggests that the company is working on a feature, similar to LG’s Knock Code, that will allow users to unlock their device just by touching on the display and dragging around to draw a figure with at least one intersection. The description says that this feature will work even when your device’s display is off which means that users will no longer need to push the power key in order to turn on the display to use the feature. The shape, size or position of the drawing is not important given that there is at least one int…

Microsoft is getting ready to Scroogle Xbox owners
by Guest Brad Reed- 0 replies
We've said in the past that Microsoft's "Scroogled" campaign rings somewhat hollow to us because Microsoft has certainly not been above using its users' data to sell more targeted ads. Now The Washington Post informs us that Microsoft is going to cobble together Xbox Live user profiles from "Microsoft user IDs and other public data" that it will then use to deliver targeted political ads on the Xbox Live dashboard based on what it thinks are users' personal beliefs. Microsoft is also apparently pitching political campaigns to share their "own lists of voter e-mail addresses" so that "Microsoft can match the additional data with individual customer accounts for even more a…

Have you ever dropped copious amounts of LSD and then gone on a roller coaster all while sitting on top of a paint shaker? If so then you probably have a good understanding of what it's like to play Wave Wave, a new iOS game that looks something like Flappy Bird for the raver crowd. Essentially, Wave Wave makes you guide a black line through a series of brightly colored triangles that seem to get narrower and more difficult to navigate as the game progresses. Just watching the trailer for the game is enough to give you motion sickness and we're still seeing tiny little triangles flying in front of our eyes minutes after we've stopped watching it. After claiming in a recent report that the new Asus dual-booting Android/Windows tablet/laptop combo that was announced at CES 2014 may not actually hit stores, Digitimes is back with a second story that says the same thing. According to its research, the publication says Google is putting pressure on Asus not to go forward with such dual-booting devices. Similarly, “other PC vendors now also have intentions to stop plans for producing products featuring dual operating system features,” as “Google is trying hard to avoid its OS being combined with Windows.” Continue reading... It wasn't until last year that I finally took a chance on baseball. It was the outcome of a single, crazy, stressful game early in the season that pulled me in, and over 100 games later, I was hooked. However, I could do without the endless pitch counts, which is why MLB 14: The Show might be the first baseball game I pick up since middle school. Continue reading... Via BRG - Boy Genius Report
