http://test.androidforum.us/index.php?app=downloads&module=display§ion=screenshot&id=1 File Name: Outgoing Call Confirm File Submitter: AWS File Submitted: 05 Aug 2011 File Updated: 06 Aug 2011 File Category: Applications No more purse-dialing or accidental calls! This app gives you a chance to confirm any outgoing calls before they are dialed. Shows you the contact name (if a contact) and the number being called. For support and/or ideas, suggestions (flames!) etc. please email me at: mekdroid@gmail.com I am always happy to implement new stuff and help with problems ... enjoy your app! -Joe Features: - Setting to Vibrate and/or play a tone when making an outgoing call. - App can be disabled temporarily without the need to uninstall and re-install. - Auto-detect bluetooth headset devices. When a BT Headset is connected the confirm dialog does not come up. - Intercepted calls are recorded in a separate call log (press Menu to clear the log). - 30-Second Timeout (the call will be aborted automatically if you do not confirm within 30 seconds) - Option to exclude selected contacts - Option to show only the phone number (works faster if you have many contacts) - Option to confirm the call by shaking the phone (instead of Ye or No) About the Permissions This app requires these permissions to operate (and why): - Process Outgoing Calls. Needed to intercept the outgoing call before it is dialed - Calling a number. This permission, together with reading and modifying the phone state, are needed because the only way to implement the Call Intercept feature is to actually abort the outgoing call first, then ask for your permission, and then re-dial the same number (if approved). - Internet Access. Needed because the app is ad-supported. - Read Contacts. This permission is used to check the phone number being dialed against your contact list. If the number is a contact the message will tell you the name of the person you are calling. Your contacts are not used for any other purpose. - Bluetooth. Needed to auto-detect when a bluetooth device is in use. Click here to download this file

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference this afternoon, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo told investors that Verizon Wireless plans to move to tiered data plans in the near future. The plans, which could roll out as early as this summer, may be based on consumption, speed, or a combination of the two. “We are still working on the models,” said Mr. Shammo. The CFO mentioned that Verizon Wireless consciously decided against a tiered data option with the recently launched iPhone 4, noting that the company did not want to dissuade any potential buyers. When asked about the unlimited $30 data plan currently being offered for smartphones, Mr. Shammo quipped, “Everyone knows that isn’t long-term. We will move to tiered pricing in the mid-summer time frame.” What do you think Big Red customers? Sound off in the comments. Read Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

If 9to5Mac is correct, the photo you see above, that originally appeared on a Chinese reseller of Apple’s parts’ website, is the front digitizer panel for the next generation iPhone. Set to be announced in June, the iPhone 5 has been rumored to include a larger display in the 4-inch range, bumping up from the 3.5-inch size that Apple has used since the handset’s original introduction and features an edge-to-edge screen. In addition to the larger display, the new iPhone is said to be completely redesigned even though the iPhone 4 introduced just six months ago was a radical departure from the previous models. According to information acquired by WinRumors, Verizon Wireless will begin to sell Windows Phone handsets towards the end of March. Citing “people familiar with the company’s plans,” the blog goes on to note that the HTC 7 Trophy — the same CDMA, WP7 handset to be carried by Sprint — could be announced as early as February 28th. The device will have Microsoft’s “NoDo” update (also known as the copy and paste update) and should retail for $199.99 with a signed two-year contract. Sprint subscribers may have just been driven further into a frenzy by Samsung’s botched Froyo update for the Epic 4G, but Galaxy S users subscribed to AT&T will still be next to have a crack at the update they’ve been waiting for. Time will only tell, however, if this update will roll out smoothly or if it will suffer the same fate as its Epic counterpart. Samsung lists the following as key changes in the update: USB TetheringMobile HotspotFlash 10.1 SupportEnhanced Microsoft Exchange Support (Auto-Discovery, Global Address list look-up, Increased Security Features, and Exchange Calendars)Speed and Performance OptimizationsAbility to Install Apps Directly to SDcardMore information and instructions on how to obtain and install the update can be found via the read link below. Yesterday, we told you about an issue being experience by Samsung Windows Phone owners that was causing a recently released update to fail — or in the worst cases render a handset unusable. Late last night, Microsoft took to the web to explain exactly what it’s discovered about the missteps of its first Windows Phone update. “90 percent of people who’ve received an update notification have installed the new software patch successfully,” writes Microsoft’s Michael Stroh. “Of the 10 percent who did experience a problem, nearly half failed for two basic reasons—a bad Internet connection or insufficient computer storage space.” Mr. Stroh goes on to concede that the update has not gone perfectly, and that a “technical issue” with the update process “impacts a small number” of Samsung devices. But he reinforces that Microsoft is “committed to learning from our first update and improving the process.” The article concludes with a handful of frequently asked questions. If you want to know more about the Redmond company’s first Windows Phone update, hit the read link and have a look for yourself. Read Via BRG - Boy Genius Report

In a move that smacks convention right in the face with the back of its hand, T-Mobile has raised the prices of two old smartphones. Rumors of such a move have been circulating for a while but logic and reason made it hard for us to believe such a move would ever be carried out. But alas. The gray-haired T-Mobile myTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 have both been bumped from $199.99 to $249.99 on contract. $250 is a steep price for last year’s gear, especially considering how fast Android evolves. We’re now looking at dual-core demons and T-Mobile wants a premium for old wares? Luckily, some other phones have seen price adjustments in the proper direction, including the myTouch 4G Slide ($99.99), the Samsung Gravity T ($29.99), the Gravity 3 ($19.99) and the Smiley (free).
