T-Mobile and Major League Baseball have a pretty tight relationship. The carrier is an official sponsor of the league and hosts FanFest during All-Star Week. This year, the All-Star Game is being held in Minneapolis and T-Mobile is taking advantage of a large host city to showcase just how good of a carrier it is. To really prove the strength of its network at Target Field, T-Mobile has upgraded the surrounding area’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS). The carrier has done the same with ballparks across the country within the last year.
To keep everyone happy at FanFest and during the All-Star Game and its festivities, T-Mobile has deployed mobile charging stations in various locations. So if a fan is worried about snapping to many photos or tweeting each and every moment, they can always have a plays to recharge. But it would not be a true sponsored event without a little promotion. T-Mobile will have signups ready to go for the Test Drive program. Fans can easily signup and test an iPhone 5s for seven days without any cost being tacked on.

T-Mobile Puts Its Network on Show at Major League Baseball All-Star Week
The Un-carrier serves up T-Mobile Test Drives and its data-strong network — together with special All-Star experiences — to customers and fans at the game and throughout the week
BELLEVUE, Wash. & MINNEAPOLIS, Jul 11, 2014 (BUSINESS WIRE) — As the title sponsor of Major League Baseball’s T-Mobile All-Star FanFest, T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE: TMUS ) is painting host city Minneapolis magenta with an array of special experiences for customers throughout All-Star Week, and by treating fans and players to a ride on America’s fastest nationwide 4G LTE network at Target Field throughout the week and during the Midsummer Classic.
“We’re going all in to make All-Star Week a fantastic experience for players, fans and our customers,” said John Legere, president & CEO of T-Mobile. “This is also a perfect chance for us to show off what the Un-carrier’s data-strong network is capable of—because nothing puts a network to the test like a crush of baseball fans Instagraming, Tweeting, Facebooking and Snapchatting every amazing All-Star moment.”
T-Mobile has helped prepare Minneapolis for the crowds and media flocking to the host city, including rolling out T-Mobile Wideband LTE and Voice over LTE city-wide. As the official wireless sponsor of Major League Baseball, T-Mobile has also enhanced the fan experience in and around the All-Star Game’s host stadium, Target Field, with an upgraded network on the ballpark’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS).
In the past year, T-Mobile has upgraded its blazing-fast network at a number of Major League Baseball ballparks, including those in Arlington, Texas, Miami, New York, Seattle and Washington D.C. as well as Minneapolis – with more planned in the future.
T-MOBILE CUSTOMER & FAN EXPERIENCES
T-Mobile customers get treated like the smart people they are at FanFest. Just by showing their T-Mobile phone, they can get in exclusive JUMP!™ lanes to avoid lines at the main entrance to FanFest, and local customers were treated to discounted $10 FanFest tickets.
Starting today through July 15th, T-Mobile has lined up some other pretty amazing experiences for everyone at FanFest, including:
- The chance to meet some of their favorite players and legends—including Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins — at T-Mobile All-Star FanFest.
- The ability to sharpen their own game with pitching and hitting clinics or play a variety of games, including the children-versus-adults T-Mobile Data Strong Derby, at the T-Mobile Diamond in the convention center.
- The opportunity to sign up for T-Mobile breakthrough program, T-Mobile Test Drive , a revolutionary new way to try wireless service before you buy it. Fans can try out T-Mobile’s data-strong network for seven glorious days and nights with an iPhone 5s at absolutely no cost, no risk and no obligation.
- Mobile charging stations throughout FanFest and Target Field to ensure that fans don’t miss a moment of this incredible week.
Finally, the Un-carrier will be on-hand to cut the ribbon at T-Mobile All-Star FanFest’s opening ceremonies this morning, and the T-Mobile team will also be sporting magenta running shorts as they participate in this weekend’s Color Run MLB All-Star 5K, presented by Nike. And, because T-Mobile is a sponsor of the run, participants will get doused with magenta powder in the “Un-leash Your Magenta” leg of the race and be able to get a great photo souvenir at the T-Mobile Color Drums at the Finish Festival.
Outside of FanFest, former Minnesota Twins pitcher, Scott Erickson, will be at the T-Mobile store in Maple Grove at Elm Creek & Main from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday July 12th, and Glen Perkins, 2013 and 2014 All-Star closer for the Minnesota Twins, will be at the downtown Minneapolis T-Mobile store at Crystal Court from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday July 14th. Fans can meet and greet Erickson and Perkins and get an autograph.
T-MOBILE MLB GAME CHANGER
Earlier this year, T-Mobile and Major League Baseball teamed up to launch T-Mobile MLB Game Changer, a new fan-powered award honoring baseball’s biggest game-changing moments. Throughout the season, fan votes decide the most pivotal game-changing moments at mlb.com/t-mobile , culminating in honors awarded at the close of the season.
T-Mobile announced today that fans have cast more than 200,000 votes for game changing moments to date. And — incredibly – more than one-third of the players in the weekly winning moments are on this year’s exclusive All-Star roster.
