Giovanni Calabrese, the fellow who usually constructs Google’s software sculptures, recently sent out a post on Google+ hinting at Licorice being the name of the next major Android update. His post was cryptic at best, saying only, “I never had a great liking for Licorice, but damn! there are some great flavors out there !!!“
Although in the past it seemed that Lollipop, Lion, or Lemon Meringue Pie were the most likely options, we can now add Licorice to the list of potential names of the next OS.
Google has always been cryptic about its future OS names, sometimes even listing the software by a different name inside leaks, like last year when we thought 4.4 was called Key Lime Pie. For all we know, Google may have another option planned that we know nothing about at this point.
What do you think about 5.0 being Licorice? Are you hoping it will be called something else? Leave a comment below and let us know!
