Google has been slowly but surely updating each of its Android apps to the new Material Design layout, the benefits of which are a simpler design, a fresh, new look to the applications, and hopefully a little more stability. However, Hangouts, the popular Google+ Messaging application, has yet to see the love that Google’s other applications have. This is unusual for an application of Hangouts’ popularity. The update will do a revamp and bring Hangouts more in line with the rest of Google’s apps, bringing a more intuitive layout, flatter themes, and a new app icon.
The update is not complete, but we have a screenshot below of the work in progress.
