NBC is giving cord cutters an easy way to watch the Super Bowl thanks to an 11 hour live stream of the entire game, plus pre-game coverage and the halftime show. You’ll be able to watch the big game on NBC’s Sports Live Extra app on your tablet, or on a desktop or laptop or computer, which goes live at noon on February 1st.
It’s important to note that yes, the app can only stream to your tablet, not your smartphone. Verizon still exclusively holds the rights to streaming the game to a smartphone, so you’ll have to work something out with Big Red if you want to get watch it on your Android phone.
This is also the first time NBC has gotten the rights to stream the halftime show, if you’re interested in the musical performances.
Expect to see plenty of advertisements for NBC’s TV Everywhere service during the stream, which NBC has been pushing very hard over the past year.
