The ASUS ZenWatch was one of the most attractive and functional smartwatches to hit the market in 2014, but it had a major flaw — poor battery life. It’s almost impossible to get just two full days of use on a single charge, which makes it a huge pain to use on a daily basis. Do you sacrifice power for functionality and carry a charger with your on your daily commute? Do you choose another brand of smartwatch that you find less inviting? Or do you go with a standard watch and risk not having important notifications displayed on your wrist?

Wait… Don’t answer those questions.

It appears that ASUS has heard the consumers cries for help and may be working on a ZenWatch sequel, which it hopes will offer up to 7 days of usage on a single charge. Yes, you read that correctly. One whole week.

ASUS Chairman, Jonney Shih, told press at a party last week that “the original ZenWatch is defined as a smartphone companion and that there’s still a lot of room for improvement on the wearable side of things”. He claimed that the device’s CPU and OS should be simplified to increase battery life and deliver up to 7 days on a single charge.

While no official plans have been announced, it’s pretty clear that the next ZenWatch is in development. It was only last month that the CEO divulged the company’s intentions to release a sequel in the 3rd quarter of 2015, and now that MediaTek and Qualcomm are almost ready to release their “simplified” System-on-Chip’s (SoC’s), it’s only a matter of time until the “ZenWatch 2” hits the market.

Needless to say, we’re extremely excited to see what ASUS comes up with. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
