Intel’s RealSense developer kit is up for pre-order, featuring 3D vision capabilities and support for the RealSense Camera and Google’s Project Tango.
Priced at $399, the Intel RealSense Smartphone Developer Kit is powered by the Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor, working alongside the RealSense Camera ZR300.
Last year, Intel first revealed the smartphone kit, which includes a 6-inch screen, a 2560 x 1440 display and 2GB of RAM, at its Developer Forum. The RealSense Camera works in harmony with an accelerometer and gyroscope to master motion tracking, depth sensing and indoor navigation.
Back in November, Google put together a list of the best Project Tango apps, with WeR Cubed taking home the top award. The app utilizes Project Tango’s spatial recognition abilities within a puzzle game, and players are tasked with flipping blocks around to make coloured matches. Users are also able to walk around the room they’re in with Tango to view different sides of the blocks, making for a truly immersive experience.
Other apps mentioned in the list included Ghostly Mansion and InnAR Wars, which transforms the player’s room into a simulated outer space environment.
Currently, the dev kit is only available in the US. We’re also waiting to hear when exactly Intel will be sending out the kits to app developers.
